I am truly impressed with what they are trying to do with this game. It really shows they are listening and trying to put a complete package together. I know everything will not be perfect with all the changes but atleast they tried. No sad excuse about data showing them people don't play long franchises. If only all developers took this approach it could truly be great for gaming. I hope all companies are taking notes and seeing how to treat loyal fans and not put out the same stuff for multiple years.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Developer Insights: Association
The lock-out for that season was only 32 games i believe. And if i can recall it correctly it was a few days maybe weeks away from going the entire season if the sides didn't agree on terms. That'd be weird to play A game if they canceled the entire season. I'd still do it though.Last edited by endandout; 09-22-2010, 08:51 PM.Comment

Holy crap I CANNOT WAIT FOR OCT 5, it cannot come fast enough. 2k11 has the potential to be the greatest sports game ever created. Nothing Madden or NCAA has done in the past 8 years tops this... 2k is going for the NBA knockout punch right here.Comment

The lockout wont happen for an entire season. The players always cave because they live above their means.
In 2000, Live released in November and the only reason that it released that late is because EA decided to use a extra month to work on the game .
I'm right with you though. In 2000, I still played the heck out of Live even during the lockout.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Developer Insights: Association
I mean actually yea for me personally it is kind of a deal breaker. I find minimal entertainment in playing against the CPU so offline association rarely gets any playtime from me. ive run it a couple of times with my bros as other users in the association but thats very limited since we only end up with about 4 user teams. The new features and stuff are great but at the end of the day most of these features are geared towards improving CPU Logic and making the CPU be as realistic as possible. No matter how many features and logic you add at the end of the day you will never completely replicate the thrill and entertainment that comes with actually competing and running a team against other actual users. Theres just an immense sense of satisfaction in pulling off a trade with another user and negotiating that will never really feel like wash rinse and repeat. the Competition, the fact that users can get better, the satisfaction cant really be replicated with a CPU.
I only brought up madden because its practically a huge example of how even a bare bones franchise mode online can be that much more exciting to run because of user interaction. NCAA takes it a step further, have you tried their online dynasty mode? it has recruiting, etc, the whole nine yards.
I know that 2k is capable of implementing something of the sort, resources are not an issue because they can use the same type of system. you simply host the association on a server and let people run it online and it all becomes simple data input. make a trade, sign a player, etc. and the information goes to the server.
Hopefully they actually do have something like this in the works and will be announced in the Online Insight. It was disappointing enough that Madden didnt implement a more fleshed out version like the one in NCAA but for a sports game to not have it at all is just a huge omission in an industry that is mostly dominated by online gaming.
Once again not trying to hate, but its close to a deal breaker for me and disappointing for many people. Some will not care and thats fine. just wanted to voice my concern so that its taken into account next year.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Developer Insights: Association
Nobody knew it would be barely playable until the retail dropped for 2k9 and 2k10. Not saying it will be as bad this year. Just that I remember that the draft combine played one way and then the retail version jumped out of the box with a butcher knife and hockey mask and killed our offline sim.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters.
