The way Elite is getting bagged on here i would not be surprised if EA tried to lock down the NBA license...There are so many players in the NBA that prefer 2k though I can't see them signing off on it. No more exclusivity for anyone.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

If EA bought the license it would cause a major calamity, the banks would crash, there would be earthquakes, floods, disease. It might be interesting to live through if you just cant wait for the next Fallout game.

no. exclusive rights are the worst thing to ever happen to sports games. i bought madden yearly and when they got the exclusive rights, i didnt care about 2k. fast forward to today and now i'm praying for another nfl game. just imagine all of the new enhancements in the nba game implemented in the nfl game. nfl 2k5 was already ahead of its time.

              No. 2K shouldn't and Stern likely wouldn't.

No because I think stomping the competition makes it fun for them and makes them work hard to give us a great NBA game year in and year out.

Competition makes things better in many ways.

I'm really sad that Elite is not as good as I expected this year, it's always nice to have an alternative.

I don't care how much I may dislike the other game but these 2 companies need each other to continue to push one another to make good b-ball games. One is holding up there end and the other? Sales in 2 weeks will answer that.

It's ironic OP poses this question in a year 2k used a lot of concepts from EA. Competition is always good for the consumer.

Nah don't do it. As other said I like them to continue to push themselves to stay ahead of their competition. Look what happened when EA took rights to NFL.

Yeah I think Madden has gotten lazy because of something like this and I'd like to see somebody make their own NFL title if EA didn't own the rights. 2K needs the competition IMO so they can continue to improve their game and laugh at the competition...

I think it's pretty insulting to the 2k team to say that if they got exclusive rights, they would all of a sudden get "lazy." Not every company works that way. While competition brings out the best in everyone, 2k has honestly been competing with themselves for the last 10 years. If 2k ever got exclusive rights ( which they don't need after what ea has done with elite) I doubt much would change.

In my opinion theres no reason for 2k to do this. They are light years ahead right now. They really dont need to buy out the competition IMO.
