Has anyone seen the other way. Where you have a bad release and the ball goes in? I've seen it severally times.....But they were with great freethrow shooters few times with Ray Allen and Kevin Durant.

I can't remember if I've seen one. I want to say yes. But I can't remember the situation.

I do remember one free throw missing with a perfect release. I think it was with Shaq.

Of course there is a learning curve. Well, there isn't if you do know all players where to take shots from and do know what kind of shots they take. I think this is another step to simulation. No more 75% Dwight Howards. I hope...

I hated in this years game when the guy I usually play against rained it on me with Hinrich. He stacked up the shooters in the association who he felt good shooting with and scored a lot of threes with Demar Derozan, Rudy Gay and Kenyon Martin was a midrange shooter... I hated their quick release animations. Now it won't depend on animations.

I think the main problem is free throws. Why does a perfect release jumper miss but free throws don't?

Ratings should matter more even for perfect free throws

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?

I don't understand why people are saying that manual shooting is not realistic. It's not like manual shooting doesn't take into consideration the player's ACTUAL IRL attributes. Of course they do. It's not soley based upon the user's ability to time the release. That's like saying if you have a wide open three pointer with Andrew Bynum, with manual shooting if your release is perfect he'll make it. That's complete BS. Manual shooting's only difference is that it takes into consideration the player's release just like it is in real life when the player shoots...You think Kobe does a perfect shot approach and release everytime in real life? why do you think you see star players accidentally over shoot, shoot short, air balls, hard shots off the backboard in games? Their release or shot approach wasn't right, and this happens IRL on a regular basis. Just like if your shot stick isn't right you get punished. Also, on manual, even if you make a minor mistake with your shot approach, it doesn't mean you'll miss the shot. I've mis-timed my releases before and the shot still goes in because the player's natural ability that's been rated in the videogame.

Coming from a person who has played basketball ever since i could walk, I'll be using manual.

This is because they factoring the release more for free throws. They were smart about that part. 2K9 had this problem. If you had a perfect release...your shot would most likely go in 95% of the time. Thats why you could pick up a free agent and kill with him.

edit :I've also been leaning towards putting real player ft%. Because I certain don't want to see Shaq and Howard having "freethrow dreams".

But another nice option I just thought of is free throw difficulty slider. Turning that up would lower the window for a successful shot. So turning it up would make shooting with Shaq harder.

Re: Will You Use Real Player % Or Shot Stick Timing?

After three solid days using Real Player Shot % along side the Simulation game setting and this is easily the best basketball video game experience I honestly have ever had. And I've been playing on the Pro difficulty setting.

I've been fooling around with a variety of teams and it's refreshing being able to hit an appropriate shot based on that players skill, rather than learning his signature shot.

For instance, I started an association with the 76ers and since they're certainly not a good shooting team, I'm finding every game to be very challenging. A good example was my first game against the Miami Heat. During the 1st QTR I was running my sets and playing sound defense, but Miami's offense and defense was too much for the length of a full game.

Overall I'm just loving the feel that real shot percentage brings to the game. Add this with the Simulation game style and NBA 2K11 feels like a good honest game of basketball.
