Re: NBA 2K11 IGN Review
Holy Crap this is from IGN??!
"Honestly, the stuff with Michael Jordan is reason enough to pick up NBA 2K11. The fact that 2K Sports did so much more with this game and improved it so greatly over last year's title is stunning. This isn't just the best basketball game ever; it's the best sports game of this generation."
Or maybe you don't know because you might be 360.....
But with that said, I do expect to love this game. The Lord is my shepard.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 IGN Review
Good review up until the My player part. This guy really has no clue.
"And lastly, there's My Player. And I say lastly because it's really the only mode that isn't up to snuff. There have been a number of improvements this year, including tracking of fan support for your created player, but there's a lot of work to be done to make My Player great. It takes far too long to get your player to the NBA and even longer still to get him some decent skills. I want to play as a young stud in the NBA, not as a desperate D-Leaguer hoping for a shot. The path should not be getting to the NBA, but where I take my career from there.
I doubt many will bother to stick it out with the slow-paced My Player mode. It's too bad, because once you do make it, a lot of cool things happen. You get press conferences where reporters ask valid questions like "How do you feel about Kobe taking the last shot?" or asking you to comment on rumors that you demanded a trade. You choose the type of response you want to give and that affects how your teammates feel about you, how the fans around the League view you, and if your home crowd supports you. This can lead to teammates refusing to pass you the ball if you're a jerk and fans chanting "Trade him!" if you seem ungrateful."
What I bolded is what i don't agree with.
He says after you get to the NBA its really cool. So what the hell is he complaining about?
We want the game to be hard and to feel rewarding when you actually do make it to the NBA and become a star."I'm addicted to Video Games, and i chase it with a little OS." -Winston ChurchillComment

Re: NBA 2K11 IGN Review
Honestly, even for the best sports games I'd expect about an 9, maybe a tad lower (MLB: The Show '10 got an 8.9). But a tenth of a point less than Mass Effect 2 & Fallout 3, higher than Assassin's Creed 2 & Left for Dead 2, and even with Modern Warfare 2, Gears of War 2 & Halo 3? Flat out caling it "the best sports game of this generation"? That's, just... wow.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 IGN Review
Now let me say I am as giddy as the rest of you and this review certainly didn't help my anticipation at all, but I'm trying to take this review with a grain of salt.
For me, a primarily online player(leagues, crew, teamup) I really need to get my hands on the retail product with lots of people online to really know how I feel about the game.
Not saying that it would ruin the experience, but I really want to be able to dive into my favorite gametypes without the same issues as previous years.
Anyway, my player and association are going to be just ridiculous this year. Give me classic teams in team up and online......game over.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 IGN Review
Honestly the game is a 9+ without the Jordan stuff.
Glad IGN actually got something right for once.

It's an incredible score for a sports game - that much is clear. But I don't think it should be taken to mean the game is better or worse than the other titles you mentioned.
Edit: I'm looking for the article describing the scoring system change, I'll post a link if I find it.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 IGN Review
and to think it's Hilary doing the review...
He'd try some ridiculous stunt in the past then match the tone of the review against it.

Re: NBA 2K11 IGN Review
I was thinking the same thing. When I saw the opening sentence about My Player I was ready to be disappointed, but his reasoning actually made me more excited. One of my main gripes with the mode last season was how quickly my 60 OVR SF was starting over established players.Comment
