    Re: 2k and Relationships

27 now, been with my girl since high school & thru college. Now we live together and never once argued over games. We do of course have "misunderstandings" about several other things though, so I can't get at the OP for having this issue.

Although it's a lil concerning that she wants to stop something that she clearly knows you enjoy.

My girl will sometimes watch, like when I first got PS3 & Uncharted 2 this yr, she actually seemed to be in awe of it. And she always tried to buy me 2K but I'd beat her to it, getting it early these last few years lol.

More than anything, I think it amuses her the sheer amount of time I'll play. Like, I'll be off one day, she'll leave for work like 11 & I'm playing COD or 2K. She'll get back and I'll be in the same spot, just with maybe a pizza box and soda on the table. Immediately starts chuckling at me "I bet you didn't even move!"

And last year, when I bought 2K10, Live 10, NCAA 10 and CH2K8 in a week span, she found that hilarious, like "how can you possibly want four of the "same" game?!?!"

But we just had a "misunderstanding" about why when I drive her car, I re-arrange everything. So, the argument is going to be over *something* regardless lol
    NOW PLAYING:
    NBA 2K16, MGS5

    WAITING FOR:
    Fallout 4

Wife: "Of course he's going out to get his 2K game at 12am, like he can't wait til tomorrow."
Wife's mom: "Be grateful that's what he's running out at midnight for."

      OP,

Get the game or tell her you will take up smoking. Much dearer habit, much worse for your health.

My teams: Leeds United, Central Coast Mariners, Denver Broncos, Florida Gators, Florida Marlins, Miami Heat, Brisbane Broncos.
My screen-name is a combination of my favourite college football player in Tim Tebow and my favourite ever Bronco, Terrell Davis (30).

          Re: 2k and Relationships

My wife is understanding about my gaming and has come to accept it....I think the main key for me was to get her involved in gaming and see that it's something she and I can do together. Now she loves to play the Wii, Rock Band, Left 4 Dead, etc. so that's made it a lot easier.

Also she came to realize that gaming is my only real true hobby and means of escape...she likes to cook and clean (yes you read that right lol) so I had to make her see that gaming to me was what those and other things are to her.

We're responsible and thankfully we both have good jobs so she doesn't really hassle much about gaming or game purchases...I'm more selective than I used to be but I can still pretty much get whatever game I want.

Like others, she just thinks I'm a complete nerd about it and bags on me for it...all in good fun though.

I can honestly say I'm pretty lucky when it comes to my wife, gaming, etc.

I work in the video game industry, so my wife knows there's no escape from there being game consoles around the house. I probably couldn't maintain a committed relationship with someone who doesn't like games or thinks they're just for kids, so I'm lucky to have found someone like her.

She's no hardcore gamer, but she loves some of the casual stuff, and sometimes I'll catch her spending hours playing Puzzle Quest, Tap Tap Revenge, or Plants vs Zombies. However, she knows a lot about the most hardcore titles though, just from occasionally watching me play them over my shoulder, so much so that we have inside jokes that include quotes from Mass Effect or Red Dead Redemption or even NBA 2K. Gosh, she used to hate when Kenny Smith commented about man-to-man D in some of the past 2K's. Surprisingly enough, I haven't been able to get her to play 2K with me, even though she understands basketball and is a big Spurs fan. She probably feels it's TOO realistic for her, and would prefer to play something like NBA Jam.

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Met my girl during my 2nd year at MSU and before we were together she used to come in my dorm room all the time and see me game. So shes cool with it. Like everyone else I get called the occasional nerd and I say so what go watch your stupid Top Model. With her I just make sure she gets her time and she gives me mine. We been together 4 years now both Grads and she staying with me basically. She supports me doing my music, going to play basketball and my gaming. I just make sure Im paying attention to her lol. We watch our Law and Order SVU on Netflix and we watch HGTV and Animal Planet, and yes I gotta sit back and eat a couple of Top Model Episodes, or 16 and pregnant and all those other reality shows a few times but I don't mind. We also get a few games in on the wii which is hers.

Funny thing is when I get on the PC to check my daily sites and she sees me on here she'll say "your on that stupid operation sportsmanship site" and I always laugh. I wouldn't trade her for the world tho, she's a huge sports fan, and knows more about football than most people I know even me lol. She'll tell me whats going on in the NFL and I tell her about the NBA. We
go see the Lakeshow when there at the palace and I try to catch her Saints games with her. Trick is just let em know, I tell my girl I'm bout to play the game or make music and she'll say OK Ima watch my shows I missed for the week on the internet or DVR and its all good.

To the OP nip it in the bud bro straight up, my girl will never say no u cant purchase a game. She'll give me real talk like bobby wait before u buy that but thats the relationship we got. We will tell each other like naw thats a impulse buy or I think that can wait, but to just say no hell naw and I wouldn't say that to her especially if its our own money lmao.
