Re: Official NBA 2K11 Impressions Thread (360, PS3)

To get a better feel for this game, try it out using the scrimmage mode in practice. You can call plays and there's no shot clock (or score tracking for that matter) and its good to get a feel on how plays work and such.

I haven't played that much, I'm just trying to find a camera angle to stick with. I used to use the ISO camera in the 2K8's, but they changed it the last few years. I'm currently using the drive camera now, but I may switch up.

Re: Official NBA 2K11 Impressions Thread (360, PS3)

As I posted in the Aussie release thread I am in love with this game.

I played quite a few games last night with different teams and the personnel make a huge difference to the outcome of the games (just like IRL). I'm playing on pro / sim and I lost by 12 to the Lakers with the Bulls and killed the Knicks by 16 with the Heat so i'm getting some nice variety. I'm a big association guy so after i got the hang of things i jumped into an association with the Nets on 12 min quarters.

My first game was me at home vs the Trailblazers and wow what a game! First qrt I jumped out of the gates fast and Outlaw was playing great ball (he ended up with 11 points in the qrt and held Roy scoreless) and I was up 23-10 after one qrt. I was thinking 'maybe pro is too easy and i'll have to bump it to all star next game'. No sooner had i thought that and Wes Matthews comes off the Portland bench and sparks a huge run (sick posterization of Troy Murphy down the middle of the lane plus the foul!) with me only leading by 3 going into half time. Aldridge was beastly hitting mid range J's and going to work on the blocks. For me Lopez was struggling with his shooting (The 3 headed monster of Camby, Oden and Pryz didn't help) but was rebounding an blocking shots well and after starting on fire Outlaw struggled in the 2nd and had 13 at the half.

3rd quarter the Blazers took control. Camby was shutting down Lopez and Roy was starting to Heat up and Batum had some nice plays on both ends. Luckily for me I had Terrance Williams playing great off my bench and hit some nice mid range step back jumpers and had a beautiful oop from Devin Harris that he finished with Authority.

I made a slight run in the 4th qrt to keep in close but just when i thought i might be able to take control BRoy would step up and hit a big shot and keep them in front. One play in the 4th qrt blew my mind: They threw it down into Roy on the block against an overmatched Morrow so i sent the double team leaving Batum free. No sooner did the double come then Roy turned baseline away from the double and lobbed up a perfect oop pass to Batum who came down the lane and smashed it down with two hands. Final stats were:

        Blazers 99 - Nets 92

FG % - both in the low 40's

Player of the game: Marcus Camby. How's this for a Camby like stat line - 10 points, 17 rebounds, 4 blocks, 4 steals, 3 assists. I loved that despite the fact he didn't score as many points as Aldridge (20) or Roy (18) he really was the difference maker and deserved the POTG award.

        For me:
Outlaw 23 points (barely scored after going off in the first qrt)
Williams 20 points off the bench (this guy is going to be a stud in my association and IRL imo)
Lopez 12 points, 15 boards, 5 blocks and only shot 31% from the floor
        Harris 17 points, 8 assists

Overall it was the single most realistic game of nba basketball i had ever played on any game ever. I never felt cheated and truly felt like i lost because a. the cpu overall had more talented players than i did and b. they ran their plays better and stuck to a game plan whereas I often tried to freestyle too much if my play's weren't getting me good looks.

Sorry for the long post but as you can probably see I'm kinda pumped with how awesome this game is!!! Thankyou to the 2k team!

          First game:
          5min qrts. pro default
CLEV cpu vs. OKC user. Lost by 5. 33-28. Both teams shot in the 40% range

          Second game:
          10 min qrts pro SIM
LAC cpu @ HOU user.. Won by 28. CPu shot 25%. 3 of 28 threes. They were just terrible. I took advantage. You should see games like that. I shot 42%, made 3 of 12 three.s 19/19 fts (real ft% on).

Ill get a few more games in before I make any other crazy assumptions.

BTW, that POTG interface is something SERIOUS. Just amazing presentation in that regard. Combine some 360 POTG sounds and its

game plays good to me...played my first game on sim/allstar...i picked cleveland and played against miami for a challenge to start...i took it to overtime with a buzzer beater by anthony parker but couldn't win in overtime. game seems good so far.

Re: Official NBA 2K11 Impressions Thread (360, PS3)

Ok. So I get home, rip the shrink rap off my PS3 copy and pop her in.

Intro - Amazing. I got so pumped up it was not even funny. The Bulls intro song...Michael turning to me and saying "you ready?". Classic.

So I go to practice mode to re-aquaint myself with 2K's control scheme. I only have played 2K9 on next gen and it was alright. Well after working out hard core for an hour I scrimmage with the Heat to get a feel for my squad run ton's of plays etc.

I am all about franchise mode so I jump into Association.

                Pro-Sim 12 minute quarters
                Real FT/FG%

                I don't touch a single slider.

Set my rotations, set my practice drills for the week then jump into opening night at Boston.

WOW!!!!!! Led at the half 40-34. Boston goes on a 16 -5 run to start the 3rd period. 10 minutes left in the 4th I go on a 14-2 run. I got as close as 2 points before Boston pulled away and won by 8.

                Bottom line.

This is without question the best sports game I have ever played.

                Period.

This and The Show are the gold standard for all sports games to strive for. NHL 2011 is right there too.

Just amazing detail, realisim. Everything felt and played right. I am just blown away. As I play more I will post the things I love....but for now I can see myself playing this game for years to come. It is a game that will be in my PS3 for a very very long time.

Outstanding work Visual Concepts. This is the game of the year in any genre.

                Bravo!!!!!

                  this game is difficult.

half time I'm in every game... then 3rd quarter comes and my team never makes a shot, even misses point blank layups while the CPU never misses. frustrating but I love the game so far..

CP3 played like CP3. Melo is so nasty on the game too..

nope I win about 65% and never waste the time to call a play no ne to.

dammit! I finally got the game, went home to play and realized I left my hard drive at my buddy's house! The game is still playable but there are no half time or player of the game highlights cause they can't be stored anywhere lol!

Anyways, what is really blowing me away is the highlights after a nice play (G Moment or whatever). Especially the behind-the-glass camera highlights, honestly look AMAZING. Just like real life. Just like every nba 2k I play for the first time, at first I was not super impressed, it seemed like 2k10... but after a few minutes I realized i was wrong haha... this game is too sick

I've already played about 5 hours worth of scrimmages using the T-Wolves working through all my sets. I'm playing against the classic teams, getting toughened up against many of the all time greats of the modern era. I'll probably put in at least another 20 hours before I even think about starting up my Association.
