I have seen that as well. What I have done is to go back to Gamplay settings and toggle back and forth from Sim to Arcade(or whatever it is), then go back to the silders and it seems to get them back to what ever the Sim settings are. Mine stick after that and save to my profile, but I have noticed that when you change from Sim to Arcade and back to Sim, it seems to level everything to default. Kind of odd.

As far as impressions, I am not good at this, but man this game is really good. The AI is awesome, and right now I am just on Sim Pro mode until I get better. So many little things going on, it does really feel like you are watching a live game.

I had to bump up the shooting sliders for both user and CPU, and I took down blocks a little bit. Besides that, I am not going to touch much. Playing with the Pistons was tough, big difference once you control Miami. Differentiation between teams is evident. You can go one on one and "freestyle" a bit without calling plays, but success depends on your team. With Miami, I had an easier time obviously, not so much with the Pistons. I had to call plays to get things going.

This game is so deep, Association is going to be awesome. It isn't perfect, no game is. Just so much packed into one game, really quite remarkable.

Has anyone gotten the online manual from the website listed on the game manual? It keeps saying there is no such page, is it released once the street date passes?

      Re: Official NBA2k11 Impressions Thread

I've made the switch to All Star/Sim and no other changes and maybe, just maybe the fouls need to be tweaked slightly but then again I've only sampled one game.

Out the box I find this game pretty damn good with no changes. I can promise you this and I think others will agree on All Star/Simulation 12 qtrs is a must. Offense must be ran I would say 75-80% of the time.

2K simply nailed it and I am ready to say with all the different modes/features that this is the best sports game ever made. Taking nothing away from MLB The Show, but this game has takin that title this year.

      Get ready to enjoy fellows

MY Player mode is no joke this year. I'm still playing in the draft combine and on Superstar/ Simulation difficulty and it is definitely a challenge. Some people might not like that it is harder, like that guy who reviewed 2k11 on IGN, but I absolutely love it. Like I said before, I'm not sure if it is because my guy is garbage..lol. but you definitely cannot use that baseline dunk and lay up move this year whenever you want. I personally have no problem with that because I shoot mostly mid range jumpers but the defense inside the paint is serious this year.

            Re: Official NBA2k11 Impressions Thread

Just got my game early today in Hong Kong..

I don't know if it's just me, I was almost in tears when i saw the opening, with MJ running into the stadium and the music and everything else, it's so touching... best opening in video game ever...

I play Allstar on default settings, working pretty well for me.

The biggest change this year i think is that you really have to take every offensive chance seriously.. If you do run and gun every single time you are going to have a very tough time, because nothing will go in. You need to spend 24 seconds wisely and use every chance to get your players open to make shots. Superstars like KB24 and Wade and LBJ can work on their own and score lots of points, but you can't use them too much, otherwise they can get really bad and simply waste your chances.I played the first 2 games with the Lakers and just using Kobe scoring all the points like i did in NBA 2K10, and ended up lost miserably. The next 2 games I played with a lot of planning and patience, using the picks and passes carefully and most of my players get to score, I started to win the game. Somehow i felt that although Kobe has a ridiculous amount of ridiculous shots you can use, but the crazy ones are difficult to make UNLESS you use them when the shot clock is going to expire. It seems like those shots only work under clutch factors.

One thing i noticed: when you substitute manually, you actually see the coach standing up from his chair and calling the player to get ready... Very nice

And mind u, I'm playing the PS3 version which I was told is an older build than the XBox version with a few more bugs.
                Surely this cannot be true.

I played 3 games with Lakers against Thunders, all star sim, almost every single position, they would run the same play for Duran where he comes of screens and shoot a mid range or a 3pter, 1st game, he was draining every single shots, cuz the man covering him is always a step late, 2nd game I turned on ball to play tight and off ball to deny ball, same thing, defender is always late and he was draining shots......3rd game I turned play tight on both on and off ball, defender still was late but I decided to switch to the defender once he gets the pass and do the best I can to jump in front of him, it seems like it's working cuz he was 12 - 40 for the game, but I literally have to switch every single time although I set the coaching profile to play tight.......

one other thing I noticed on the 3rd game is that although he was missing all his shot, computer still do the smae play over and over and over??

anyone have a good way to play thunders or is that really what real thunder does.....

I was playing playoff btw, 1st round 3 game series....

                    Thanks

I'm not attacking you at all man, but why do people call OKC the Thunders? LOL. It's the Thunder. A lot of people say that and it always sounds weird.

But back on subject, in real life, if you are defending a play and you aren't able to guard them then the opposition should most definitely run that play to death..lol. When I played the Thunder they didn't run the same plays all the time but they do like to run off of turnovers. That team is a beast in the open floor.

                        Re: Official NBA2k11 Impressions Thread

I have played a couple games online so far. The last game i played i was orl playing against the heat. the score was only 37-33 but its only 5min quarters. I was down 33-32 with 1 min left. I gave the ball to howard in the post going against big z. i backed him down did a step through towards the paint and lebron came to help and as i went up big z blocked my shot. The heat got the ball but i got a stop and came back and gave the ball to howard in the same spot. Did the same move and all but when i did step through i pump faked and got big z and lebron in the air and after that it was all over with howard putting the ball in. so after that he gave the ball to lebron with an iso against pietrus at the top of the key. He did what lebron does and drove to the basket but howard came off of big z and sent the ball into the stands while lebron was trying to dunk it.

I gotta say 2k11 this is the best late game close scored situation (if that makes sense) that i have ever. Every thing seemed to pick up when whiten the last couple of minutes and everything seemed much more important then it did in the 1st and 2nd quarters

But their is a lag to online shooting. i went 0-12 from 3pt range and 0-7 with rashard lewis. And most of these shot were wide open shots because the person i was playing against was kind of a cheeser. He was full court pressing me the whole game. Offline i was making 3pt shots but they just dont go in online and i use the shot stick for offline fyi. The short delay is my only complaint about online

Also about half the games i played online people were full court pressing me the entire game and at first i couldnt do anything. They were basically already trying to find ways to cheese but when i played the game the i was describing in the first paragraph i had finally found a way to beat it. First of all dont let the defender body you up or dribble into them. You have to crossover, use iso, or just blow by them if it is a slower defender, second just like in real life dont dribble with your head down but in 2k's case dont dribble down court looking at your man and the defender the whole time. Look up at people running down court and make smart passes because it will get picked off. As long as you make smart passes you can easily pass your way out of a full court press. So i believe this year you will be easily able to beat cheesing methods with good smart basketball.

In the heat game again the other user must have turn his offensive tempo or fast break slider up alot because everytime i missed a shot his guards at the top of the key was zooming back the other way and he was throwing them the ball trying to get fastbreaks and my guards werent running back with them. Let me tell you this, if you dont make adjustments to your opponents you will get burned. he was buring me that way but i turned down crash boards a lot because orl has d12 and thats all you need and after that everytime has guards took of the other way may guards right behind them.

And one more thing. In the multiple games againt the heat online i can tell you to be prepared for the iso with lebron mostly then wade secondly. The other players were taking jumpshots but for the most part the are isoing me and driving to the hoop. Bosh is almost a nobody in each game i have played. He have not hurt me at all mainly because everyone use lebron mostly then followed by wade. Bosh only gets his when he is open from me helping against wade and lebron. This is just a helpful tip on playing against the heat

Also, I remember seeing in one of the Czar videos, that the thunder run several plays that start off the exact same way. They can try different options for that play based on how you defend them. In the video it shows several of these plays.

I am pretty new at all of this, but that might help.

                            ADG24's NBA 2K11 Review

                            Presentation

I must say 2K really stepped it up this year in the Presentation department. Earlier we heard how they hired a TNT employee to help them make the game feel more like you are watching a game on TV and man they got it down to perfection. It truly feels like you are watching a game on TNT and the commentary is much more improved this year.

                            Graphics

Graphics are a bit better than year's past in my opinion the major difference is how bright and clear the game is. You can clearly see how each player now looks like it's real life counterpart and each arena looks simply amazing.

                            Sounds

2K did a great job this year providing us with a great soundtrack, so when you pop in the game for the first time and as you continue to play you will not get tired of the songs you will hear in the background... even though as you play this game a lot it will get repetitive, but a tremendous job by 2K this year.

As I mentioned previously commentary is much more improved and the arena sounds are a whole lot better than in years past. 2K gives us the option to play our own Arena Sounds, but out of the box the arena sounds are pretty close to what you hear in each arena.

                            Gameplay

I cannot emphasize enough how great this game is and when it comes down to it the major improvement this year was done to gameplay. In my case I have been playing 2K for years and years (since 2K3), but this is by far the best experience I've had playing a basketball video game. I tell you, EA made a huge mistake letting Wang go as he has brought over the things that Live (Elite) had going on their advantage.

When you first play this game it's going to feel like 2K and Live (Elite) had a baby and this is the result. 2K really did a great job this year getting it all down the defense, the iso-motion controls, the shot sticks... everything is near perfection. I have spent hours in practice mode trying to master all the iso-moves and all the features that the shot stick now features and man I don't get tired of it.

The only negative things I can say about the gameplay is the rebound animation and the wide open looks that do not go down IF you do not adjust the sliders. I have not played one bit with the sliders as FOR NOW I don't think is necessary I've been playing on Simulation, Pro and it's playing great, but it is hard to hit wide open looks, so a little slider adjustment should take care of this.

The rebounding animation is probably the one thing that will bother you when you play the game as big men jump just as high as Vince Carter or JR Smith, so their jump looks a bit unrealistic when going for blocks or rebounds... not a game killer as you get used to it.

                            Final Thoughts

This game will keep you busy for a while as you try to rebuild a franchise in the association mode, try to relieve some of Jordan greatest moments in The Jordan Chalenge, try to become the next NBA MVP in My Player mode or jump online to compete against the best in pick up games or in league play... 2K has really, really take care of all of your basketball needs with NBA 2K11 now it's time to sit back, relax and play some basketball!

                            FINAL SCORE: 9.6/10
