    Too many trades...

Looking back I should've moved Igoudala to someone in the Western Conf and not the Nets, and I should've moved Granger to someone like the Mavericks in a 3-team deal that brought cap relief to Indiana.

I traded Melo to the Bulls but don't really like what was done to Denver's make up in return; having to take on Luol Deng and Ben Gordon to make the deal go through.

Since Artest was unhappy in LA I had moved him to Milwaukee in exchange for Corey Maggette, but the Lakers are so cap strapped now as a result of this deal that I can't get them anything because they're over the hard cap.

Hopefully my save is at the beginning of the off-season...otherwise I might just restart a new association.
Season #2: All 30 Teams Association / "Defending the Mavs Title"

Thank the lord I had saved a file from my first offseason that puts me right before the Draft. I just couldn't live with some of the trades I made, and FA signings that I carried out for my all 30 teams association.

    Spoiler

So to update...last night I was able to work my way through all the offseason tasks, and am prepared to play game 1 of season # 2 tonight.

Since in season #1 I played as the Mavs and won the NBA Championship, I am this time going to stick with them, and defend that title. They are a slightly more equipped, et al younger, Mavs team in season #2. No Caron Butler... More on that to follow. . .

Since I re-signed Thaddeus Young to the 76ers instead of letting him walk I had to find minutes for Evan Turner somehow since there was now a logjam at G/F, and that meant it was time to deal Igoudala and his contract that runs through 2014...

Who... other than Dallas, would be a perfect fit?

Here's how it went down in a 3-Team Deal between PHI, DAL, & CHA:

Dallas sends: the expiring $6.5Mil contract of F James Posey (acquired by Dallas from Indy in season #1) to Philly, plus a 2012 1st Rd Pick, and a 2013 1st Rd Pick. To meet cap constraints Dallas then shipped disgruntled Center Brendan Haywood to the Charlotte Bobcats.

Charlotte sends: Center DeSegana Diop and a 2nd rounder to Philly; Diop has a 1yr player option remaining for about $7Mil so it will be a "delayed" savings for Philly.

    Philly sends: Andre Iguodala.

Philly now has a minutes to spare for Turner and Young, and also has 2 first round picks. Only problem is that the picks will likely not be lotto picks since Dallas is poised to continue their winning ways. What I will try and do is package them both to perhaps move up in the draft should the opportunity arise. Also decided it best to just ride out the Elton Brand contract too. In my "old" season #2 I traded Brand and Evan Turner to Indy for Danny Granger, but Elton's contract is virtually untradeable and will likely die in Philly or not be realistically moved until the yr it expires.

For Dallas they get a solid option who can defend, and bolsters their youth. Caron Butler played well during the regular season, but seemed to run out of gas during the Mavs playoff run and it was Shawn Marion who really made the difference. In my "old" season #2 I just slotted in Matt Barnes into the backup SF role, and allowed Caron Butler to sign in Toronto. Not this time around, as I made a move to bring in some youth, and keep the championship repeat hopes alive.

As well, in my "old" season #2 I had sent Iguodala to the Nets, which signaled Carmelo Anthony's trade to the Bulls. However, in hindsight I felt that this deal greatly hampered the Nuggets who by result of moving Carmelo in a fictitious sign and trade, had to take on Luol Deng and Ben Gordon's contracts.

So with Iggy now situated in Dallas and not New Jersey it was time to make this Melo to NJ thing happen.

Denver sends: Carmelo Anthony and 2012 2nd rd pick to the Nets.

NJ sends: Derrick Favors, Travis Outlaw, Stephen Graham, and 2012 and 2013 First Rd picks to the Nuggets; and Damion James to Utah.

Utah sends: 2nd rd 2012 pick to Denver.

So I'm really liking how these two deals help shape the landscape on what will be my REAL 2nd season. There were a few other moves that I made too during the offseason, but none that are in regret.

    Thoughts?

Still at the deadline trying to do something with Green. I hit the button expecting an offer but didn't get anything. However Orlando traded Jameer Nelson and Earl Clark for Steve Nash.

Anyone know why the deadline is a week ahead in game?

I started up an association with the heat and simmer the first season but lost to the bucks in the first round 2-4 Idk how. Lebron was MVP and wade and bosh were 2nd and 3rd respectivly. I will win atleast 70 games in 2012

I made some trades to get:
              Wesley Mathews
Trailblazers 11' and 12' second round pick
              Kings first round pick
              Gave up:
              Arroyo
              miller
              chalmers
11' and 12' first round picks

At the all star break I traded Mathews and dampier and my 2nd round pick for lamar idol cuz he wasn't happy in LA

The kings first round pick turned into the #1 pick and I got kyrie irving

I got 2 d leaguers that really helped out

                [TOR year 2/All-Star/82gm/10min]

Polished off the finishing touches on the offseason and here's the rundown.

Accepted Derozan and Randolph's options, Barbosa exercised his option. Re-upped Weems 2yr/$2.84mil.

                Trades:
                Kleiza >> CLE 2012 2nd rnd
Barbosa >> DET 2011 #8 pick [DET had no SG, traded Gordon & Rip last season, smart!]
                W.Bynum >> CLE 2011 2nd rnd

                Draft[auto-generated]: #8 Anton Clancy [72 defensive minded C] & #39 Dana Kelly [63 defensive minded SF]

I went in to the FA signing with $15.88mil of cap room. Signed Battier 3yr/$10.92mil, Jamal Crawford 2yr/$10.48mil, and JJ Barea 2yr/$8.53mil. So i still have about $3mil of cap room and some flexibility this season.

                Notable signings:
                PHO Shan.Brown, Hawes, Josh Howard
                POR Iverson, Dalembert, Livingston
                GS Aaron Brooks, Vinsanity, Dudley
                PHI Zach Randolph, Redd, Diaw
CLE JR Smith, M.Barnes, Troy Murphy
                BOS Grant Hill
                SAC Nick Young
                DAL Elton Brand
                NJ Caron Butler
                DEN Jamison
                IND T-Mac

Hopefully the computer will be friendlier to me when i sim, team overall of 73 up from 65 last year.

Roster entering the 2012 season is as follows:

                PG Bayless(73rtg) | Barea(71rtg)
                SG Derozan(72rtg) | Jamal Crawford(73rtg) | Weems(63rtg)
                SF Battier(75rtg) | D.Greene(65rtg) | D.Kelly(rookie 63rtg)
                PF Odom(77rtg) | A.Randolph(75rtg) | Amir(63rtg)
                C Bargnani(78rtg) | A.Clancy(72rtg)
                Lakers | Michigan | Dodgers

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Won the NBA Championship in my first season with Orlando going through Charlotte, Boston, Miami and the Lakers. Hedo Turkoglu had a huge playoffs especially against the Lakers capping it off with a 40 point night in Game #6. The Heat gave me the toughest time with a 7 game series where I won three games by under 5 points.

Now comes the off-season. Without giving all the details of the trades yet, I have to choose one of these two paths that give me the following starting lineups for 2011-12.

                  PG: Jameer Nelson, Brandon Knight*
                  SG: DeMar Derozan, JJ Redick
SF: Hedo Turkoglu, Kyle Singler*, Earl Clark
                  PF: Brandon Bass, Ryan Anderson
                  C: Dwight Howard, Semih Erden

                  or

                  PG: Jameer Nelson, Jose Calderon
                  SG: DeMar Derozan, JJ Redick
                  SF: Hedo Turkoglu, Earl Clark
PF: Brandon Bass, Donatas Motiejunas* or Enes Kanter*, Ryan Anderson
                  C: Dwight Howard, Free Agent

*'s are drafted players that I haven't 100% decided on.

Which would you go with? Each roster gives me the flexibility to easily clear out space to go after Chris Paul after the season if I feel like it. So far with all the good shooters I have, there really doesn't seem to be a need to go after a dominant point guard but that's a question for next season.

Like how you simplified it for us there, very simple this roster or this roster instead of random suggestions.

Anyways, I would go with the second option provided you get a quality defensive-minded center in free agency. I love my bigs is why I'm going with the second option as opposed to the first. Plus, you would have a logjam at PG and SF if you get Knight and Singler, because in my opinion they both deserve starting spots, while Motiejunas and Kanter might deserve starting spots in the future but don't necessarily have to have one now. Also, if one of them does get a whole lot better, you can move Bass to the bench for one of them, while you can't really move Jameer Nelson to the bench for Brandon Knight. Good luck with it bud.

I started a new association with just about every player on the classic teams, including Jordan, Magic, Bird, Ewing, Malone, Stockton, Wilkins, Thomas, Pippen, Rodman, and pretty much every other classic player. What I did was dump them all into free agency and did a fantasy draft. With a couple trades I ended up with a team that looks like this.

PG: Magic Johnson (classic)/Steve Kerr (classic)/Eddie House
SG: Michael Jordan (classic)/Craig Hodges (classic)/Thabo Sefolosha/Kyle Korver
                    SF: Larry Bird (classic)/Jared Dudley
                    PF: Dennis Rodman (classic)/Ryan Anderson
                    C: Ben Wallace/Joel Pryzbillia/Brad Miller/Joel Anthony

I played with this team and beat Miami in game 1 119-91. Miami, with the fantasy draft, had a lineup that looked like this.

                    PG: Rodney Stuckey
                    SG: Andre Igoudala
                    SF: Tayshaun Prince
                    PF: Carmelo Anthony
                    C: Yao Ming

Was easy from point one because I had mismatches at PG, SG, and SF as Magic, Jordan, and Bird all combined to score 86 of my 119 points. I also out-rebounded them by a ton in the first half but it balanced out later on in the game. In the end we combined for about 120 rebounds, that right there tells you how stifling each defense was though as I held them to about 34% shooting and they held me to about 42% shooting.

I think this idea was pretty cool because now every single team has at least one star player and is very deep with all of the classic players in there.

I'm thinking about making one last trade though, to get Ron Artest and dump Korver, Anderson, and Hodges for him. Those guys aren't defensive minded players at all, and I really want this to be a defensive-minded team.

                    Hopefully this association works out.

I actually like the first roster you listed with Brandon Knight and Kyle Singler better than the Motiejunas and Kanter picks. The reason why is both Knight and Singler can make a contribution from day one on that team. I project IRL Knight has the better chance than Singler to become a star in the NBA because of his athleticism paired with his shooting ability. Also Knight in my mind could use some time on the bench when he gets to the NBA to mature his game, and who better to learn from than Jameer Nelson who's been a solid point guard in the league for quite a few years.

The detractors of the Magic say they can't win the championship because they really don't have a player who can break down the defense or draw double teams like Howard can to free up their shooters, which sometimes can make their offense stagnant. With Knight you get a player who can break down the defense and could be an instant offense six man or could be a capable point guard directing the offense. You get a more dynamic option than Nelson off the bench with Knight. In regards to Singler, you kind of get a Hedo clone, so the offense really won't lose a step when Turkoglu has to come to the bench for a rest. Most importantly you don't have a log jam at power forward with two project draftees looking for playing time with two vets Anderson and Bass who are both vital role players.

I really don't see a problem with drafting Knight or Singler. Singler in my mind won't be a draft pick IRL who demands large blocks of playing time in his first year. With Knight, yeah your going to have to give him playing time, but you'll get good productive returns from him in regards to scoring and playmaking ability. Competition is always good on a team contending for a title and with Knight you'll have a role player for the short term, and a star for the long-term.

Id go with the second team. Knight is overhyped. He has free fallen on ESPN's draft board to 23rd. Knight is a bit of a tweener and isnt a true PG. Great scorer though. Singler could be a decent player but you take away minutes from Earl Clark and stunt his growth. Kanter has alot of potential and could be a very good C or PF in the league. I dont know much about Montiejunas but both him and Kanter are in the Top 10 of the draft and it addresses your lack of depth in the frontcourt. An injury to a big with that 1st squad would really hurt your chances of repeating whereas the solid depth with the rookie bigs would help alleviate an absence of Dwight or Bass for a short period.

Started a association with my Cavs. Gonna play every game on a 29 game and only make trades if they happen in real life. The only thing I did was edit a few players. I made Sessions a 75, & Hickson a 76 and edited his potential and increased his dunks and mid range, and I edited Eyengas dunk rating and his potential so here is my rotation.

                            Sessions / Williams
                            Parker / Gibson
                            Eyenga / Moon
                            Jamison / Hickson
                            Varejo / Hollins

I can do a lot of things with this lineup. In my firs game I beat the Wizards by like ten. I think I need to lower the shooting cuz I shot 14-19 from deep. I like putting JJ at the 5 and going small. I have a lot of shooters on the team and am money with mostly everybodys jumper. Should be fun and a challenge to beat the better teams. I play on allstar 8 min quarters with sim sliders with increased shooting

                              OH DEAR LAWD NO!
See now if the deadline was where it's supposed to be I could've done something. Harden healed too.

                                RP Nenad Kirstic (18 mpg)
                                BW Brian Cardinal
                                Pp Dominque Jones
                                Pp Ed Jacobs

                                IR Ian Mahinmi
                                IR Mo Givens
                                IR Cole Burgess

                                * denotes D-League sign; signed Jacobs in season 1.

I played game 1 last night... The season opener, opening on my homecourt against the Hawks. They came in and trounced me...beat me by 27pts; 112-85.

I saw quickly what my weaknesses are...shooting.

Dirk was off for most the 1st half. Jason Terry came off the bench to go 0-4 in the 1st half, and I just did not have the shooting stroke.

I loved using Iguodala, I was attacking with him, and he ended up going 9/9 from the FT line for the game. But he couldn't carry the offense w/ Dirk not knocking down shots, and Kidd missing layups, and Beaubois missing 3's.

It was like a perfect storm that showcased my offenses weaknesses.

So with that...I'm gonna be scouting what's left in Free Agency for a swingman w/ a nice touch. I still have a good amount of my MLE I could use to sign someone. I'll likely send Mo Givens to the D-League, he was my 2nd Rd pick in the previous draft.

Free Agents available of interest are: Kelenna Azubuike, CJ Miles, Reggie Williams, Peja, Mike Dunleavy, Anthony Parker (Waived by CLE), Sonny Weems, Vujacic, Marco Belinelli, and Willie Green.

Any suggestions on who you guys like to use from that list of availables?
