Re: Whats the deal with My Player???

once you get into the NBA and find out what the grading system wants and the systems flaws you can get around it. I think for next year the user should have a choice on what career path they want to start out with for example:
Superstar: start at a 75 overall ish.
starter: start at a 60 overall ish
bench player: start at a 40-50 overall

HOWEVER whichever path you choose dictates who you play with in pick up games like lobbies.
i think this would please everyone ( i may be mistaken though)

Playing against Wall in the combine, as soon as he gets within a step of me my player just stops and picks up his dribble, saw the same happen to my CPU teammate; he had the ball, Wall got close to him and he just stopped and picked up his dribble.

Is this because my dribbling stats are too low ?

      It's happening a LOT

Just let you choose what type of player you want to start out as, without limitations, instead of condensing a player's development into an attribute building mini-game.

I mean, the OP's player started out as a 37? He wouldn't be at the combine if he were a 37.

Instead they should just draw from real life, and let you create whatever...

A small school guy with high pro potential...

A big time college performer who might not have the athleticism for the NBA...

A young European player... A stud lottery pick... Anything...

Then let your play at the combine influence your stock accordingly, like maybe moving up or down by 5-10 slots...

        Just make it realistic.
        All ties severed...

            This is harsh!

Passed to a teammate who was wide open under the basket! Didn't take the shot instead passed it to a player wide open on the perimeter. He passed up the shot and passed the ball to me as the shot clock was at 3. I try to quickly pass it to an open player since I was being guarded. Bad pass. Lost 90% of the bar.

Spent the whole game getting to an A grade and it wiped out the A and most of the B+ part in one situation where the CPU passed up two wide open shots!

I also got good defence, gained about 5% of the bar, but for the same play which I apparently defended well I lost about 20% of the bar to allow man to score!

Really want to get my stats up so my Player is decent! This trudging part at the start isn't fun at all!

Stop trying to be like Kobe when you are rated 37 overall, that is probably your problem.
Im not trying to be like Kobe at all. Your post is exactly the problem. The indicator tells me to guard Bledsoe, but every time Evan Turner scores, I get docked saying that my man scored. Seriously??? Can anyone say broken. Cant figure out which one is my match up when either one of them can score and I get docked. First play of the game was a turnover by my SG and Turner went right down and dunked.

I was nowhere near the play and Turner is NOT my guy. So whats the deal here??

Yeah the CPU can screw and somehow cost you half a bar. I cant stand that.

If people are saying that ratings are irrelevant, then why cant I just start out in the 60s overall like the guys im playing against.

This is an amazing game mode. Im not saying its not. Im just saying the way teammate grades are working is extremely petty and sometimes suprising. Getting docked for allowing a man to score thats not my guy is BS. Especially when I didnt cause the turnover and im nowhere near the play.

What im seeing is that it may be easier to play as a big man.

Re: Whats the deal with My Player???

Other than the grading system, I dont really have any problem with the my player stuff.

Though it sucks at the tasks I have to do. I have to hit 3pters though my guy is a dunker and has a 50 rating for 3 pointers which is annoying because I keep getting that same task when it's impossible for me to get it.

And my guy always turnsover the ball despite his ball handling ratings being over 60. I usually finish in the D's in terms of grades which costs me about 200 points and by time everything is done, on average I lose about 300 points a game which is just impossible for me to improve.

                      @Maj

If your ball-handling is in the 60's you shouldn't be trying to break your man down. Either use the hesitation and drive to the rim or pass back to the PG. If your're not careful your defender may body you up, causing you to stop your dribble or even lose the ball.

If the game gives you objectives that are dumb (I've gotten quite a few) ignore them. Trying to follow them will make your grade worse because that may not be what your character does best.

For grading help, take smart shots. No attempting threes, and no shooting with your defender smothering you. Make sure you box out your man on the defensive side of the ball. Play sound defense. You know the bar that shows up beneath the CPU player? If it's full or half full when your defensive assignment is at the 3 point line give him some room, but not too much to where you can't recover if he tries to pull up. If he only has a single lone bar and he's at the 3 point line, give him space. You want him to take an ill-advised jumper.

                      @blok

Are you sticking to your guy like glue? Stay as close as possible as possible to your man. If he runs a pick n roll either switch up or stick with him depending on what your AI teammates decide to do.

Otherwise I don't know what to tell you except.....be careful while playing as a big man. You'll get dominated. A lot.

Once I found how the grading scale this was my adjustment. When I had shorter quarters, I found myself trying to force the issue to compensate for any mistakes that were made. Once I lengthened the quarters I found myself just playing basketball and I rarely finish with a grade of less than an A. Take it slow. It never fails.. everytime I start to worry about the grade... stuff hits the fan.

I hate how I lose points on my grade cause I call for a pass even though I'm wide open or I pass to a guy who's wide open. I can be wide open by the basket, call for a pass, lose points and still not get the pass.

Sucks how one time I had an easy chance at a basket, the PG passes it to the outside so my guy was forced to leap out of bounce to grab the ball, wasn't able to bring it back in bound and I lost an entire bar due to a turnover!

Is it just me, or are other ppl having a hard time on the drills? Other than rebounding and stealing, I can't get even a bronze in anything else. Maybe its just cause my guys a 44 overall so his shooting, defense and other stats suck?
