Re: Did something change in this game?
I am really against changing gameplay via a patch, but I have to say the amount of passes that get picked off is insane, unrealistic and really makes the game unplayable for me. This is the first 2K bball game I have picked up in several years, and it truly makes me not want to pick one up again for several more years. I know you shouldn't make stupid passes, but even trying to take your time, you're going to slip up - especially in a basketball game where it's hard to pass to the player you intend, unless you use "precision passing" which is cumbersome IMO. And in real life, not ALL bad passes are picked off and taken back the other way. Even if the CPU just knocked a bad pass out of bounds, that would be more realistic. Having said all that, messin' with gameplay via a patch should be forbidden!Run or join free baseball sim leagues at pennantchase.com!Comment

Re: Did something change in this game?
I retested this theory and had friends try it and it was a placebo effect
The game is not easier or dumb down with the new rostes
2K has a new update today and i tried those and the game was back to being challenging.

Patience my friend. At first I was getting picked off left and right but you must be smart and slow down the tempo. Know which teams have a good defense and against those you have to only pass when the player is open and not being smthered. Against teams like my Knicks, they play off the offensive player and it is easier to complete a pass to them.
I have lowered my huge amount of turnovers since I started to play smarter. It makes the game challenging because you cannot just abuse the cpu with uncharacteristic passes and makes you play basketball instead of video game basketball. (For what it's worth)Comment

Re: Did something change in this game?
^ Nah man, it's DEFINITELY a whole new experience pre-patch. I've been wondering why i was able to beat the CPU so easily the past few days and why they weren't really running any plays like they use to. I tested with the Celtics POST-PATCH, and all they were doing was running KG to the foul line for a jumper. Pierce, Ray , Rondo was pretty much invisible. So I decided to make a new account and try what some of you guys suggested and NOT download the roster update. Guess what? I got beat by at least 15. The whole Celtics team was involved and the ball movement was pretty crazy. Sooo yeah, there's definitely something up. After the roster update, like you guys said, was pretty much 2k10.5Comment

Re: Did something change in this game?
Good comments, but I have to agree with those who feel the game got easier - I just cruised through Jordan Challenge #1 and beat the Celtics by 2 points, whereas I was getting CRUSHED on pro and getting nowhere close to reaching 63 points or 6 assists. I now feel that if 2K did patch something, they absolutely had to do it, because there are a ton of casual gamers out there who would love this game if it wasn't so hard on pro level. Honestly, this game out of the box was broken simply because casual gamers need a level they can enjoy, and pro was far too difficult. I also get the concept of patience, but I still argue the game was unrealistic as it was out of the box. For example, with the "patch" the Celtics couldn't ally-opp to McHale over and over. They completed one, but tried a couple others and failed. That's far more realistic. Parrish and McHale still dominated inside, which makes complete sense against the '85 Bulls. I love a challenging game, but 2K did need to find a better balance for this game, at least on the Pro setting.Patience my friend. Re: Did something change in this game?
Honestly, I think the game has definitely changed after the latest Roster Update.
I've reverted back to the Stock Roster (Reset Roster) and created a new Profile, and the game seems to be back to the one I love. Although the game is not as hard as I first felt it was when I first played 2K11 (b/c I've been playing it everyday) the game play feels more authentic now that I have reverted back to the Stock Roster (to make sure you are using the Stock Roster, check if Don Nelson is still the GS coach).
It's no longer a dunk fest even tho I did not change the game sliders after the Roster Reset (and actually I bumped it back to 50 where it was 25 when I was playing with the newest 2K roster). Before the Roster Reset, I was able to drive by Dwayne Wade using Demar Derozan and dunk it often, but now there is alot more contact and it is harder to penetrate your defender, I haven't beaten Wade off the dribble with Derozan after the change. Also when Lebron (cpu) went up for a dunk, Amir Johnson went up to contest and there was contact in mid-air which resulted in a foul. This would have easily been a dunk before the Roster Reset.
So indeed, Reset your Roster and Create a new Profile to see the changes. I feel it's definitely a better game w/o the new/living Roster and probably going to start an Association with these Stock Roster with manual edits by me for players instead of relying on the Official 2K Roster which in my mind made the game alot easier with less contact and more dunks.2018-2019 NBA Champions!Comment

Re: Did something change in this game?
The reason why the game was harder with the default roster is because the passing mechanics were flawed when the game ship (thus leading to the numerous complaints about turnovers). The gamespeed was also slower on the default rosters.
I downloaded the rosters that came out today, and immediately saw the difference in the passing game; passes are more crisps and passer ratings definitely make an impact before. On the default rosters, passer ratings didn't translate (I talk about this more detail in my part 2 blog).
There is also more offball movement with the newest rosters where offball movement was absent before on the default rosters.
So if the game seems easier to you guys than at launch, that's because the default rosters flawed the game and gave the user a handicap. Now the latest rosters have fixed those handicaps it seems. You guys may have to bump things up to Superstar or Hall of Fame if you want to feel that same level of a hopeless challenge you felt in the beginning (or just play with the default rosters).
So why gamers feel that their patience and stuff was paying off at them making lesser mistakes. No, it's just that some abilities that were taken away have finally been given back to the user. Hate to burst your bubbles LOL.According to my old marketing professor, satisfaction is when product performance meets or exceeds consumer expectation.Comment
