There is a trick to getting the "pump-fake to hop-step spin" move. It's really simple.

-Wait until the receiving post player has initiated the "post up" animation. The post player will lock (or lean) onto the defender and wait to receive the pass. Once this animation is triggered, the pass can then be sent into the post player.

Now the post player has the ball (without dribbling), hold LT and hit/hold (RS) for a quick second to trigger the "pump-fake" animation. When the "pump-fake" animation starts immediately hit the triangle button (PS3) and the "pump-fake to hop-step spin" move will be completed.

-another trick is once you hit (triangle) then you can immediately hit your shot stick to trigger a shot once the animation is complete.

-last trick is to pump-fake to the side you want to finish on. (towards baseline, into the paint). You have to guess where the help D will be coming from and trigger the "pump-fake to hop-step spin" animation accordingly.

Can someone please tell me how to do a true hopstep dunk??? I cannot do this move to save my life!!!

Basically I want to do the big hopstep into the paint, like when you press (Y) going towards the basket, then do a dunk right after (in most cases a 2 handed power dunk).

im pretty sure you would need a great dunker with a high standing dunk...there is no secret way.

R trigger and R stick pushed left (relative to the basket).

I think he means from the post.

You need high Standing Dunk. Even with that you'll usually get a contact shot unless you mess with the sliders.

The dunk in traffic slider may have something to do with it, too.

Re: Demystifying the Post Game (feel free to add on)

I'm not exactly sure what I did, that caused me to perform the move I did, but it was awesome, and I was wondering if someone else would know.

I did a spin move to go around my defender, and ended up doing a pump fake, I then spun back around in the other direction, and put up a shot (I'm pretty sure it was my spin-move post shot or whatever that I did), and got fouled. It ended up looking like I had just done Hakeem's dream-shake.

I'm not sure if it was an animation that occurred because of the foul, or it was actually something that I did.

The best I can tell, below is the button input, but I can't get the same result repeating it, so there has to be something wrong with what I'm pressing, or the timing.

                -
Left stick towards the baseline, plus LT
                -
Tap right stick towards basket, plus LT
                -
Right stick in the opposite direction, causing the spin-shot animation
                -

Any suggestions. I wouldn't mind being able to do this consistently.

I think that's the correct input.

I know what move he did. We all saw it in the first gameplay video released. Dwight Howard did what he is talking about. I still haven't seen that move since that video. Been trying all year long.

Re: Demystifying the Post Game (feel free to add on)

I've gotten the move once or twice in practice, but never in the fashion that I want. I think the defender actually has to stop the spin from being successful, and get your player into the face-up post. Then if you do the LT + Right Stick away from the basket(I think, it's still spotty). I also think it can only be done on the low block, right on the edge of the paint, which also limits its usefulness.

I've tried it with absolute shot stick, and camera relative, and I still haven't been able to get it anywhere near consistent. I think I can get it once ever 30 attempts or so. I think a lot of it's me, but I would love to get this move down, and I think half the problem is trying to experiment to find the right input.

I hope they improve it in the next game. If they're going to have The Dream in your game, you ought to be able to perform the Dream Shake.

Beyond that, it's a pretty solid addition to the spin move out of the post which right now is kind of boom or bust. Either you get by your defender for an easy dunk, or you get stuck behind the backboard, taking a contested fade-away jump shot.

Did it in a game again, and it was not very useful. CPU defender didn't go for the spin, and just blocked the second spin-shot thing. There was no fake beforehand, though, so that may have been part of it.

Again I'm left with very little clue is to how I did it.

Hmm can you maybe try to find or post up a video of it? You're not talking about the "dream shake" that Rondo and Curry do in real life right?

You can pull the dream shake off most of the time with a good post player. As seen in the video, this move is definitely possible to pull off in the game. Post up, spin with LT, then a flick flick move.
