I play as the Heat in my association.
I have it on Sim/All-Star with Clutch turned OFF
12 min qtrs, 82 games, I play all the games...no simming.
Shot stick timing on shots, and real player FT% for free throws

The Miami starting five was officially announced today, it goes like this.

PG - Carlos Arroyo
SG - Dwayne Wade
SF - LeBron James
PF - Chris Bosh
C - Joel Anthony

If you want it realistic, play it like that but be sure to give Chalmers, Miller, Stackhouse, Z, and Haslem some big minutes off of the bench, mostly just switching those out with the PG and SG and putting Wade or LeBron at PG a good amount of the time. That's what I'm going to do when the season opening rosters are released, which will hopefully be tomorrow morning.

Eddie House is going to net some decent minutes too. Especially until January when the Heat get their true 6th man back in Mike Miller.

The team is deep enough that you can't go too wrong with any lineup. For starting PG, well, I only know what I'd do in real-life. Arroyo has his little mid-range shot, he's a smart passer, and doesn't turnover often, but he actually gets the nod for his awareness and presence, which don't translate well to video games at all. Chalmers is faster, hits open 3s and gets steals. He's actually more valuable in-game than his real life counterpart, so I usually go that route.

So Just so anyone reading this thread knows:

I play 12 minute quarters
Pro/Custom
Real FG/FT%
82 game season
So far playing all games (and probably will stick to it).

Big Z and Haslem are first off the bench around 3 minute mark towards end of the 1st quarter (also Miller when healthy). With Miller out Stackhouse in as well

When that happens lineup shifts to:

Wade
Stackhouse
Lebron
Haslem
Big Z

Start of the second generally

Arroyo
Wade
Stackhouse
Bosh
Big Z

Going 4 deep on the bench right now. But matchups dictates who and when. Also foul trouble can change things of course.

House gets like 5-7 minutes to give Wade a breather, but I'm basically doing the same. I almost feel bad not giving Jones and Howard some minutes because they can produce, but I'm more about keeping at least 2 of the "3" on the court at all times. It's a ton of easy offense, blocks and steals when they're all together.

Whats the diff btween Season mode and Association.

I dont want Wade to get traded to the Timberwolves on some fake stuff.

But starting my season today i noticed i didnt have control over other team rotations.

Do i have to deal w/ a disgruntled T.J. Ford in Association.

I would like to alter the rotations of other teams if they look way off compared to the real NBA.

Is Season too limited?

Yeah it is. And don't worry, D Wade doesn't get traded to the Timberwolves, that kind of stuff doesn't happen anymore with the much improved AI trading logic, association mode is where it's at.

LeBron at the PG isnt "realistic" to me. LeBron works the offense like Pippen,Anthony Mason, or Lamar Odom.

They don't, and you can if you want. Also, LeBron at PG is very realistic, seeing as how Coach Spo said LeBron will run the point at times throughout the game.

I'll be curious to see if they run him at Point guard w/ Wade, more 2 forwards and a Center.

Defensively I dont know if that would hold up against the Brandon Jennings, Chris Pauls, and Aaron Brooks of the L.

I always thought there was always a smaller guard/PG alongside him even if he ran the Point in Cleveland.
