How do you get calls in this game?

I've reached a point where I'm sick and tired of getting hit and bumped while going to the basket and not getting anything while watching the CPU get every single call possible no matter how little contact there is.

How do you get calls in your favour in this game? I've sofar discovered that you can't.

Go into the game sliders and turn the shooting fouls up.

Playing Create a Legend and no slider options in the pause menu.
