I was thinking this might be the source of the problem, but haven't looked into it. Whatever the case, it seems like it would be an easy thing for 2K to fix, unless they're done tweaking things.

Someone mentioned boosting the "Fast Break" in the coaching settings earlier in this thread... I think also boosting "Crash Boards" would help...

Yeah, more offensive rebounds... But there's probably a balance point... Maybe using sliders to offset any excessive offensive rebounding...

So you get guys out looking to break, with team that just shot all crashing in, but their rebounding is lowered through the new slider setting...

    Just a thought.

This is the meat of my argument.....this is next gen ps3......Fundamental Basketball....yet we have to tinker with sliders and icon passing to get a friggin fast break...this should come second nature.....point push rock, fill the lane....somebody said something about shooters.or guys being adept at lay ups and dunks..hey if you stop on fast break to pull up for 3....chances are you wont be on team long..& if you cant make a lay up...you don't need to be on the court...I don't even play half of these modes...i wish they would have focused on superior game play....imo

Exactly. Except in very special cases (exceptional 3-point shooters) all players filling the lanes should be sprinting on an angle towards the rim. This is kid's stuff, one of the first things you learn when playing the game. Because I'm so used to playing in real life, when I push the ball down the middle of the floor I'm expecting my wingmen to there, but instead they often pull to a stop and it either screws up the whole break or results in a turnover.

There is a hidden Fastbreak rating that may need to be adjusted by 2k..... seriously

There very well might be a fix. I know icon lead passing helps, but I'm still playing on lower level difficulties as I get used to this year's game, and I've read the fast break gets worse on higher difficulties.

I sent a guy out early during a shot to get a break going & his guy stuck go him like glue.

For players spotting up instead of continuing to the basket...

Has anyone tried simply reducing player's tendency to spot up?

I might try this with two teams... Go through each lineup and drop each player's tendency to spot up to zero.

It could be that the developers simply didn't distinguish a difference between spotting up during a break and spotting up during a half court set.

I totally agree with how the defense is able to just run faster when you do try to run a fast break, but on the other hand when they run one you barely can keep up with them. Also please get the reaction time fixed. I have easy rebounds or steals but when you hit the buttons, it's a delay before your player reacts

I never played this game on any level than other than All Star or higher. Here is what I notice:
                            • The CPU is able to fast break on us because they seem to have an acceleration and top speed boost, while the user does not have that same thing happen.
                            • We the user have a slow down gather animation on fast breaks. It was in last years game too. You will see your player gather then go down court . It is meant to slow you down so you can't well break fast pun intended. This does not occur for the cpu and it doesn't happen in a user vs. user game.
                            • Then to make matters worse you have some of your teammates stopping to pull up threes when you do manage to have a fast break opportunity. That would be ok if it wasn't your center lol.
                            • The CPU manages to have 1-2 players back almost all the time as soon as the shot goes up. If you think you can leak out on a 3pt shot you are defending Fagetaboutit! That same person that took the three will get back to defend your shot almost every time. The speed it took them to get back is just too fast. I know why 2K did this to cut back on cheesy long distance passes but this to me is not really cheese it is actually a gamble. You are betting that they will miss that shot and you can get the rebound to outlet.
                            • Passing the ball actually kills your fast breaks sometimes. Sometimes I can clearly see an open man but the way passing is implemented in this game is wrong for certain situations. What happens is the trajectory of the pass is low and it gets stolen.
So if you manage to get through all of this you may have an opportunity to get a fast break started. I really think IMO that 2K implemented some of this to cut down on easy baskets IE make the game harder.

Actually you can do this with just one team, and then play that team against itself...

Anyways, I tried this but only had time for two quarters... And it seemed to work, though obviously more time will reveal if it actually makes a big difference.

                              What I did:

                              1. reduce all player's spot up tendency to zero.
                              2. raise/lower the following coaching profile settings:

                              fast break - 100
                              crash boards - 100
                              offensive tempo - 100
                              defensive pressure - 0

I don't know if those last two are just in the half court or what... But like I say, this seemed to make a difference with the transition game and players spotting up for three on the break. More time will tell.

Sorry if this is a noob question (99% it is) but I am new to the game and I have some questions.

How come when I use my player and pass the ball he stops moving for a second? Is it because he is too low a rank or because of the hardcoded animation?

This makes my fast breaks almost always break up. Does icon passing help to get a smoother fast break transition?

Do the top players stop when they pass the ball or receive the ball on fast break? And I am not talking when they are near the basket which can trigger a layup or dunk. I am talking about when the receiver is at the centre of the court. Will he stop dead for a second when he receives the ball on a fast break, even if he is a top player?
