Re: NBA 2k12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360) Later Today For PS3

    My first impressions:

+ Loading screen transitioning from the main menu is improved (as it should)
+ The intros are beautiful, amazingly fresh
+ As stated earlier, controls, especially in the post, will take some time getting used to and can be intimidating at first, but I can tell the training camp is going to be a lot of people's best friend
+ Computer actually bites on post fakes this year giving them that human element, something it didn't have down there last year
+ Size-ups are more compact, allowing you to easily chain moves together better now.
+ Walking the ball up court feels as it should, very "relaxing"
+ Shot blocking, even by the CPU, is more of a threat, as I had Tyson Chandler near the edge of the paint a few Heat drives and the CPU controlled Chandler was able to block the shot. You will definitely feel the improvement here
+ On-ball defense modifiers will also take some practice but are great tools to use on star perimeter players
+ Quicker players on the perimeter are going to take team defense to contain
+ The graphic in the bottom corner of the screen featuring LeBron and Dirk is a nice touch. Assuming this is the "upcoming game" tidbit that's been talked about before.
+ Players feel like they have even more momentum this year, which is a good sign
+ Out of bounds really feels like out of bounds. Numerous occasions I or the CPU stepped out of bounds, but it wasn't problematic. Both times for the Heat from what I recall, Joel Anthony (lol) stepped out twice: once when grabbing a defensive rebound and landing and the other when grabbing an O board and trying to spin out of the paint. Very realistic.
+ The ball really is loose this year and players will lose the ball if you try to do too much. I actually got called for traveling on DIRK when trying just one up-and-under.
+ Adjusting shots feels natural now. Can't even tell if the animation is adjusted or not, good sign.

    - At first glance, the graphics only look slightly improved (which is saying something) but this isn't as much a problem as you'd think as the game is still beautiful on that front.

I wonder how many different animations there will be for that little TNT ad at the bottom.

Maybe if an upcoming game involves the Magic and the Celtics, Dwight Howard can poke Paul Pierce and he drops to the ground and fakes an injury. Then Dwight pulls him up a wheelchair.

Rudy Fernandez is a gd MONSTER. sharpshooting and just dunked on LeBron. Also, I can't even express how happy I am that everyone playing this demo HAS to play as my beloved Mavericks. Suck it haters. Don't think I've missed with Dirk yet in about a half-dozen plays either. His super awkward layups are still clutch.

Just played the demo a couple of times, and while it's hard to get real definitive from just a couple quarters, one thing did jump out at me: controls. For years, 2K has always felt a little.... I don't know, I guess "floaty" would be a good term. You'd only want to move a player a few steps, and would end up 15 feet from where you wanted.

This time, it felt alot tighter. I think I might have run into a tiny glitch though, Miami was called for a defensive 3 seconds, Dirk goes to the line, and then it's like he froze. The game was still running, but nothing would happen when I pulled the stick to shoot the FT.

off ball movement is sooo much better, game is so smooth. Loving the fact that LBJ and Wade look to attack when they get the ball.

LeBron doesn't have time to choke in this demo.

Many people on here seemed to have run into that defensive 3 sec glitch. Luckily it hasn't happened to me yet.

The devs weren't lying when they said shot blockers would track the ball in 2K12. I blocked LeBron using Dirk twice now, and on both occasions Dirk tracked the ball before swatting it.

Has anyone successfully triggered a spin jumper? I can't for the life of me get it to work on this camera angle unless they changed the way you do it.

Edit: And for the record, still think the help defense is god awful in this demo. I have to pretty much control Kidd the entire game or he'll just completely abandon Mario Chalmers on every play. Same thing is happening with whoever is matched up on Chris Bosh.

Edit x2: Just got a spin jumper to work with Dirk. I guess you have to push the stick in the opposite direction and then do a circle?

Yeah I've been draining them with Dirk. It's all basket relative, so just spin the shot stick back over the shoulder of your ball hand depending on what direction you're moving.
