My first impressions:
+ Loading screen transitioning from the main menu is improved (as it should)
+ The intros are beautiful, amazingly fresh
+ As stated earlier, controls, especially in the post, will take some time getting used to and can be intimidating at first, but I can tell the training camp is going to be a lot of people's best friend
+ Computer actually bites on post fakes this year giving them that human element, something it didn't have down there last year
+ Size-ups are more compact, allowing you to easily chain moves together better now.
+ Walking the ball up court feels as it should, very "relaxing"
+ Shot blocking, even by the CPU, is more of a threat, as I had Tyson Chandler near the edge of the paint a few Heat drives and the CPU controlled Chandler was able to block the shot. You will definitely feel the improvement here
+ On-ball defense modifiers will also take some practice but are great tools to use on star perimeter players
+ Quicker players on the perimeter are going to take team defense to contain
+ The graphic in the bottom corner of the screen featuring LeBron and Dirk is a nice touch. Assuming this is the "upcoming game" tidbit that's been talked about before.
+ Players feel like they have even more momentum this year, which is a good sign
+ Out of bounds really feels like out of bounds. Numerous occasions I or the CPU stepped out of bounds, but it wasn't problematic. Both times for the Heat from what I recall, Joel Anthony (lol) stepped out twice: once when grabbing a defensive rebound and landing and the other when grabbing an O board and trying to spin out of the paint. Very realistic.
+ The ball really is loose this year and players will lose the ball if you try to do too much. I actually got called for traveling on DIRK when trying just one up-and-under.
+ Adjusting shots feels natural now. Can't even tell if the animation is adjusted or not, good sign.
- At first glance, the graphics only look slightly improved (which is saying something) but this isn't as much a problem as you'd think as the game is still beautiful on that front.
