So how do you even throw a lead pass? I can't even remember.

Please i'm not directing my comment to anyone but seriously the cheese threads are getting old now. i think we have all established that there are flaws in video games some ppl choose to use them some don't. lead passing imo is far from cheese y because it's so easy to
      A) Anticipate pass
      B) Get in position to contest the shot

Now if your playing a expert lead passer yea it's tough but far from cheese just my opinion

        A) Sometimes, even if you do anticipate the pass, the player you're controlling will completely miss the ball as he tries to deflect it, because the game picked the wrong animation.

        B) There's very little you can do if the cheeser is fast enough, because the defender either won't get there in time to contest the shot, or the cheeser will initiate an unstoppable dunk that will at least lead to a shooting foul and 2 free throws.

I don't force Lead pass at all i just wanted to know because people were complaining about it... (I've probably lead passed once this week and that was by mistake.

I understand taking a pass and calling a pick and roll and lead pass into the paint is hella cheese but swinging the ball around looking for a open man and taking 15-18 foot jumpers is called lead pass perimeter cheese? WTF?? I got accused of that....That makes no sense, Funny the accuser plays off the ball defense....

I wish that this is the time that people wont consider lead passing towards the paint cheese. I wish we are penalized for lead passing like a dum**** so that there wont be guilt or shame in lead passing towards the paint.

Seriously I let the play develop, my guy comes off a screen or if Tayshaun Prince is on the wing and I have Rodney at the opposite side but I want Tay to catch it towards the top of the 3point line, I will hold the left stick to the left so he will run to catch it in the area and let the play happen or shoot a jumper from there...How the heck is that cheese???????????????

the reason lead passing has been considered cheesy in prior versions of 2k is that the game allowed it to be cheesy by not giving people adequate tools to stop it, such as: ineffective steal animations to tip the lead passes, inability to bump receivers during the lead pass. Another problem is that in prior versions, lead passing gave you the ability to make receivers turn on a dime to change their direction/momentum too quickly....these bad aspects of lead passing have been mostly removed in 2k12. but the act of throwing a pass in front of a player to lead him in a certain direction is not cheesy in itself.

That's just asinine, IMO. It isn't like you are bumping the other defender with the ball handler and then passing the ball to the open player every play. That has been an exploit in 2k for a while. You ran a play with 2 options (Prince and Stuckey) and chose to pass it to Tay for a jumper. No harm in that..lol.

The problem is, lead pass does not work how it should work in real life. You throw the ball and the recipient tries to follow and catch it. In a video game a lead pass will give a speed boost to the recipient so that the animation will work.

I agree Blues. It was cheesy, because 2k did not really allow your defenders to pick off passes and guard the player cutting to the basket efficiently. It is much difficult to execute lead passing and dunking in the paint in 2k12.

LOL. Good one. I love when people take mid range j's though. Never mind that ***** Rock
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.
