And no, that's also incorrect, because a few games back (2K9 I think?) the game were spamming you with punched ball violations every time you tried to steal the ball. So they should know what it is.
You may know stuff about the rules and the cba, but clearly you are dreaming if you thought punched ball violations were ever in 2k, or for any bball game. How the hell would they implement that????? Press "clench fist" button?

They were. Which is the only reason I actually know what a punched ball violation was, because I kept going "WTF?" every time it happened.

2K and a punched ball violation??? That's new to me, never seen that happen in any 2K game. Kick ball yes, reach in yes, punched ball never seen it happen in 2K.

Wow, looks like some people don't understand the 8 second violation.

I am fully aware that the 8 second violation is in the game, but the only time it is used in the game is if a player is dribbling and dribbling and getting bumped, etc. and he can't cross before 8 seconds. But the incident that I said in the OP would be an 8 second violation in real life, but 2k ignores it.

The only time the clock is reset is if a defender gets possession of the ball and it somehow goes out of bounds to the other team again. If he taps it out of bounds, the clock is not reset, therefore the 8 second violation is still in play

Timeouts also don't reset the clock and I totally forgot that I've seen that mistake by 2k in previous games as well. The clock is at 17 and the team calls timeout, yet they inbound it and dribble in the backcourt with like 14 on the clock, yet no 8 second violation.

2K does mess up the 8 seconds. It shouldn't reset on out of bounds or a deflection. Anytime the ball is deflected out of bounds in the real NBA during that situation, they just make sure they pass it into the front court. It's not really a big deal but it does put less pressure on the offense.
Exactly. Looks like some people here are more "2k" fans than NBA fans...

I understand the OP's reasoning for posting this, but aren't we jumping the gun with all these negative posts about a DEMO? This is not the game folks. Nobody has the actual GAME in their hands. Can't we wait until Oct. 4th to judge what NBA 2K12 does or doesn't have?

^^^ you are right, but for that matter it should go both ways. most all judgment should be absent not only negative but also unproven positives in the game.

how can someome argue nba official rules, just cuz 2k forgot to represent them right. its all good, as long as they learn something.

If you are going to use the "it is just a demo" comeback for negative comments, do the same thing for positive comments please. I hate that people are frowned upon for speaking negative about anything 2K here. Even if it is respectful and mature. It is like the entire OS has stock in 2K.

Why release a demo in the first place that doesn't represent the actual game. It's almost of no use because all issues on it are excused by the fact it's just a demo.

Yup, and I'll add to that too.

The topic of the post says "Once again," which implies that previous 2k games have had the same mistakes.

2k has a history of not fixing minor glitches in the game. So be prepared.

2k may be ignoring it since it rarely happens in real life. That doesn't mean they should ignore it, but to me, I'm fine with it.

I can see why you are annoyed with it though. Maybe 2k devs will see this.

this should be in the demo impressions...right?

Most demos have some sort of disclaimer letting you know this may not represent the final product. The reason they release demos is to A) Advertise their product B) So many people expect demos nowadays most devs will do them if their game allows it C) People like to get a general feeling of how a game is going to be

Would you rather there be no demos at all?

Ignored or dysfunctional, by and large the same thing though.

Disclaimers aside, we all know the game isn't going to be drastically different than the demo. That being said, if a minor mistake in the 8-second rule is the biggest issue with the game, I'm going to be very happy.
