Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

I lost a nail bitter to chicago. By 2 points in 2 qt I had 43 points 16 assists 4 blks 4 steals 8 boards. fouled out with 4 seconds left. Was down by 20 points with 5 minutes left than went on a run due to I caught fire and was knocking down everything and getting to line.

Instead of going for layup few feet from basketball. Decided to pass it to Roy Hibbert since he was right in front of me....wrong Agent Zero aka gunslingersteals ball forcing me to foul him.

We had a chance to tie but Collision instead of give it to granger wants to shoot a fadeaway 3pt shot.
Best game I had so far on this game.

All of us are up in the all-star voting except Turner, he was my favorite teammate since I showed up, my first play was an alley from the three point line to him. I'm starting to love our big men as I thought playing against Dwight and the Magic, we would get blocked trying to score on D12, since that opening tip-off we hit them with point after point nonstop. I almost had a trip-dub, 13 points, 31 assists, and 8 steals. I got my steals off ball, lead the handler to pass and jump in front, and when they tried going for a fastbreak I would hit the ball then steal it. We really put on a show in front of our home crowd.

Edit: And our big men dominated the paint, we won 117-102, I remember the last time I looked at points in the point we had 84 total points and 50 points in the paint.
May I ask? How you get most of your assists? (PnR? Run Play? Fast Break?)How many turnovers you got?

I try to lead the league in assists for the first time. I'm SG but currently 2nd in apg with 8.5-8.7, the 1st place is generated player at 9.2. I'm also 2nd in turnover/game with 3.3 right now. I just got my career hi at 19 asts but with 9 turnovers. I think if i play everygame, nit just key game I may be able to average 10+apg but my turnovers will be huge too.

Just wanna try to find the trick ti get easy assists without getting too may turnovers.

        Jazz losing streak continues.

Trade deadline come and gone, no moves . . . Fans booing me and chanting about trading me despite me not making any waves at all.

        Looks hopeless.

Then, Jazz fire head coach . . .

New guy comes in, has a Philly playbook.

Next game against lakers, EVERYONE plays AWESOME!

I had a career high in points and my team were hitting their shots and actually trying. I had no idea coaching had such a huge impact on a team. I'm also happy with this new play book as there are a lot more high screens for the guards.

We lost to the lakers mainly because Kobe dropped 40 something but, it was still the most fun I've had since draft day
Before I'd see him in Boulder, I'd see my son in Hell.

Just won a must win game against #4 or #5 HOU to stay in the playoff race. I had 23 points(58%), 14 rebs, 2 steals, 4 blocks. We have one game left against HOU again. It is a must win. We need help, though. If we can play like we did this game against HOU, we can repeat the results. I didnt take much shots(only 17). I need to repeat that. Top 7 spots are sealed. We are a half game back. The #8 seed is Mem and the are done. If we win against HOU, we will tie up with them. The Season matchup was a tie. We would have the higher conference record, but they will have the higher division record.
I maxed Ball Security and got Off Hand Dribble to 41. I will max that and then Stamina. I have 2 season milestone I will get after next game. I will get 35+ Double Doubles and 80+% FT.

After looking at real life playoff situations like ours, I dont think we will make the playoffs regardless of win to tie with Mem. Last year, NO and Mem had same record and series were tied like ours. But, NO finished higher, since they had a higher division record even though MEM had higher conference record. I wanted to make the playoffs for Jason Terry since he is retiring. I remember the HOU game where I had 21 pts and 8 rebs in the 3rd quarter, but my lack of effort and foul trouble caused 25+ pt blowout lose. Thats a game I would take back. I didnt mind not making it. We would have faced OKC in the 1st round again and probably wouldve loss. With Terry retiring and Beaubois(sp?) contract expiring, we will be under the cap. I hope we sign a SG and sign a backup SF.

Well I mostly get them, I know this works for me but idk if it will work with a sG as it may just be a PG thing but I drive the lane, pump fake, and when I pump one of my big men come in, i give them a nice little pass and they score, unless I have Turner or Granger open for a 3, sometimes Ibaka will hit a three for me, it's a split second decision for me though because I drive to score but if a big man gets in my way I stop, pump, pass. I used to call an Iso, then tell Turner to drive to the basket but then they changed where he went for iso, he used to be on the baseline now he's at the elbow and alleys are awkward from that angle for me. I had 5 turnovers that game which to me isn't bad since that's 6.2 assists for every turnover. I average 8.2 assists for every turnover on the season. One of the ways to not turn the ball over is I take my time, I become a court leader there, making smart passes, taking my time, waiting for people to get open, calling a number of plays to see how they work out in that particular game. It's a number of things that decide that to me and that's how I do it, currently 3rd in assists but still about 50 games left, plenty of time. Our lineup got a little shaken up, after a 2 day break, we have gotten rid of Farmar, White, and Tyrus Thomas and have gotten Toney Douglas, DeAndre Jordan, and Wilson Chandler, meaning Danny Granger is now on the bench.

We won our final game against HOU 86-82. I had 26 pts, 15 rebs, and 4 blocks. I wanted to finish the season hot, Terry is retiring. We finished the season on a 5-6 game win streak. We made the playoffs. So, it was important to win that game. We face OKC in 1st round.
              I end with a PER over 30+. I avged 17.8 pts, 9.4 rebs, 1.7 blocks, 49% FG, and 83% FT.
I got Off-Hand Dribble to 61. I will max that then Stamina.

Since Im not the starter and I am only playing 5 min quarters in the playoffs, I rushed through the playoffs. I finished the reg season early in the morning. We continued our hotstreak in the playoffs. We beat #1 OKC in 5 games, #4 HOU and #3 GS in 7 games. We are facing the Hawks in the Finals. We are tied 3-3 and we are on the road. I want to win because I think our window is closed after this year. Terry and his 4-5 mil cap is gone after this year. Dirk and Marion will be 35(I think). I think we can win it. The games we lose were because of poor mistakes that can be fixed. I like Beaubois(sp?), but wont be mad if he leaves. We might lose him, Terry(definitely), and our backup PG. PG isnt a huge need. I like rookies PGs. We definitely need some wingmen. Our Frontcourt is solid(led league in rebs). I am not sure If I will stay after next season. Dirk and Marion might retire or be on the verge on retiring after following season. Might look for a team that is in desperate need of a big man and has a good backcourt. Since Im wont be a starter when next season, I will only have rival games as key games. So, I will have about 16 key games next season.
I got Off-Hand Dribble to 64 and maxes at 75. If I win the finals and have a great game, I should be able to max it. Then Stamina, then Off and Def Awareness, then strength, then consistency.
I got my signature shoes/commercial/billboard. I was already using 5+ Vertical shoes and the custom shoes only gave 4+ vertical. But, it matches my jersey better.

Arg, the pass logic/trajectory in this game needs to be fixed. I am tired of having my lob pass go to the covered guy on the right wing instead of the wide open guy on the left wing. Besides that, why are Lob passes being delivered a foot under the rim when I have 90 pass? That needs to stop.

It makes it really hard to be a point guard when the game already charges you for turnovers when a pass goes through Channing Frye's hands then off Steve Nash's face, and then doesn't let you pass to open guys.

And I'm STILL averaging 15.2 assists through the playoffs. If only I could get the turnovers below 3 per game.

Don't ever try to force your own shots. I had this mistake when I started My Player. Let the offense come, and only shoot when you have a good look, or some sort of mismatch you can exploit. It helps to know the basic dribble moves (step-back, gather, fade, etc.) as well as some layups (spin, dropstep, eurostep, etc.) Learning moves in the post (up-and-under, fade, jump hook, dropstep, spin, etc.) is really helpful, and once you can master those in close oppurtunities, you'll see your % rise dramatically.

Also, running plays if you're a PG is good. Your MP coach or PG will run some plays for you, and that helps you get some higher % open looks, or, if you're a big man, Pick-and-Roll is very useful.

lol thanks. I play every game (I'm only 73 OVR). I really just focused on offense first: Shot Close, Inside, Mid Range, 3 Pointer, Layup, and Post Moves. My PG is sort of big, so I get around 30 MPG at point, and 10 MPG at shooting guard or small forward (6'5"). So I get more scoring oppurtunities at the 2 or 3. My MP is big, so the coach sometimes runs post isos for me, and playing in the post is really fun, and I draw lots of 3-point plays there. The set plays run for me are usually like 3-pointers, and I get out in transition a lot, so some easy points there. Otherwise, it's just knowing how to get inside, draw fouls, and create seperation to get more points. I started the season as a total ball-hog (limited MPG) and shot like 40%, but now, once you master the post, shot, and layup moves, and raise abilities, it's more fun and easier to score, even on HOF (I play superstar).

In terms of assists, I run plays, and the Knicks offense is based on:

                    -Isos (me, Carmelo, Amar'e)
                    -Pick Plays (open shots)
                    -Pick-and-Roll (open layups/dunks)
                    -Transition
                    -Open 3s

My asssists come mostly from these plays the auto coach runs, or the plays I call. Just finding the right plays to get guys good looks, or open looks is the key to getting my assists. Isos probably take up 55% of our plays, and like 75% of those isos are for Melo. Stoudemire's isos I'm fine with, because he's a high % shooter this season (.586%, 1st). So obviously no assists there.

The Pick plays are basically for me, but usually I'll call the play "NYK Horn Flex Cutter" or "Knicks 12 Over" which are for our shooters (Fields, Anthony, Walker, etc.) and that gives them open 3s, and that's a 1-pass possession so that's an assist. If you abuse those sorts of plays, the CPU will pick it up quickly. Pick and Roll is the most effective part of our offense (when I run it). It works for any big on our roster (Stoudemire, Chandler, etc.) even a guy like Derrick Brown does it well... You have to lead your man into the screener's body, and drive. The screener will be open, and anyone who can shoot inside 3 feet will make the shot if you run it right, so more assists. Others are easy things like in transition, finding someone open for 3, or easy buckets in the paint. When we run Isos for me, it helps to have a slider set with Backdoor Cuts 100, which makes your CPU team-mates cut and move around in Freelance. Finding guys under the basket is also more assists.

I didn't focus on crashing the boards early in my MP's season, so if I did, I'd probably be 5~6 RPG. That's just about awareness (shot clock, positioning, where your man is in relation to shooter etc.) I've said my PG is tall and big, so the blocks are just a result of timing and positioning in relation to man and basket. Using the aggessive block animation helps with chasedown blocks like LeBron lol.

I'm really bad at playing the passing lanes, and I usually get a lucky steal every game so that's how I get that 1 SPG.

                    ===

Basically, the key to those numbers is mastering the post, layup, and shot moves, when the use them, how to use them, etc. In terms of assists, just undersatand your plays, CPU team-mates and the most effective plays. Having a high team-mate chemistry (mine's 94) helps. Also, don't feel it's bad to run a play for yourself every once in a while, as long as it works. Having good positioning is key to blocks and rebounding. And I haven't figured out how to steal effectively yet lol. Just try and get as many high % looks as possible it my tip for anyone wanting to score more.

I use "The Boat's NBA 2k12 Slider Set" for Superstar, and it works amazing, with realistic team and player stats and %. Also, when you execute your post, layup and shot moves, it actually works, but you can't cheese, so it's a good balance.

Sorry for the essay, but I hope I helped people at the same time.

just wondering, why strength ? Also does vertical matter in layups ? Whenever i try and drive i get bumped all the time, and then i get shot quality of F. I cannot play this mode anymore :/ I get really annoyed

Just played the All Star game, didn't get many minutes as expected, and I finished with just 2 points on 1/1 shooting, 3 assists, and 1 rebound. I don't like how you're assigned objectives at the all star game because there's no way I'm going to get an A+ teammate grade and surprisingly I passed the 'Limit your matchup to 4 points' objective. I only got 500 skill points.

Strength allows your player to PUSH THRU/ABSORB hits while going thru the lane and at the basket (traffic).

Vertical gives your player height on his jump shot and finishing on layups/dunks. No vertical expect to get your shot blocked ALOT on layups from the "rotating" defense.

Make sure your Shoot in Traffic & Consistency skills are HIGH!!!

Yes sometimes its hard and can be very frustrating to tell when your shot is contested in this game!!! I was EXACTLY where you are with my first MyPlayer SG. I tried to shoot my way thru it and it was a disaster!!!

After about 30-35 games into the season, you can no longer just Hop & Pop jumpers! It is essential to include: pump fakes, fake passes and the use of simple dribble moves to get an "open look".

                          TIDBITS:

Your "hot shot" indicator is a little bigger than you think; instead of shooting at your EXACT favorite spots on the floor take a dribble to the left/right and drain it from there! Go wider off picks to give yourself a little more space.

You also want to make sure you are not becoming one dimensional once you get the ball!!! Drive to the basket; pass off a pick instead of shooting sometimes! YOU WILL GET THE BALL BACK OR ANOTHER OPP TO SCORE!

Slow it down and don't look to score the next 2-5 games; try to reduce your # of shots by half. Don't worry the AI will make sure you get close to your average with a few fastbreak scores and trips to the line if you play under control.

Watch how the AI responds to you when you get the ball. If they are in your face immediately then they KNOW (tendencies/shown in your player card) you are not going to Drive to the basket!!!

Listen to Steve Kerr & Clark Kellogg, as irritating as the criticism can be sometimes they are giving you TIPS on why you are struggling!!!!

Also remember some games are just not going to be your day. Take it in stride and make it a point to get open looks and it will all fall together for you sooner than you think.

                            CENTER/ATH/KINGS/ROOKIE/OVR: 78

                            Playoffs chance vanishes:

Kings (33-44): Just 8 games left and we are 5.5 games from the 8th seed in the Western Conference. This club rated at 79 is just not competitive enough to get in.

A blowout loss to the Spurs to begin a 4 game losing streak should have been a warning! As we then go on to lose to the Nets by 6; Blazers by 1 and Suns by 8 in OT enroute to a 4 game losing streak.

During a playoff push, you can't lose ANY games to average/lesser opponents and expect to get in!

The eternal optimism is now gone; my Center dropped 24-38 points in every game trying to get in, the effort was just not enough.

However, Shoot 50% from the Field milestone and the chance to Lead the League in Blocked Shots should keep me focused down the stretch.

On another note; my Center is finally dunking regularly in traffic; Dunk (76), Standing Dunk (80), Shoot in Traffic (85) and Vertical (82). At this point I will close out the season raising Dunk & Vertical with everything I get in the final games and put this former irritation behind me.

Only played 10 games with my PG/Knicks this week I think he is getting irritated!

How are you pulling off the Shot - Pass animation? I tried it last night on PS3 and it launched a brick off the back board. Are you using the shot stick or a button to shoot before passing?

i loaded up my PG who i have not played with for a while.

We(Knicks) traveled to Chicago to take on the Bulls. i had the best game of my career. it wasnt my highest scoring night, i only had 20 points. but i had 23 assists! setting the team record for single game assists.

Rose was doing great in the first half, he was unstoppable and had 36 points. but he finished with 42, scoring only 6 in the second half.

                                we won 119-98. Amare had 32, Melo 31, Chandler 17. i had 20 points, 23 assists.

this was by far the most fun and best game i have had in my career.
