The PF I really wanted got drafted #1. But, I was able to get the best Center of draft. 7' 286, A- Reb and Post D. Exactly what I wanted. I was going to sign a C in FA. I got a few trade offers for him after I drafted him. Since I dont have a need and there arent any defensive wings in this draft, I traded away Bogut and my 2 twos for a B POT SF. I dont know anything about him, but his B POT is the reason I got him. I didnt have a true SF behind my Starter. Depending on how good the SF is, I might not have to go do in any FA signing. We are even younger.

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
I got a defensive SF in FA. So, I got rid of the SF I got through a trade in this draft. My backup PF was a pain in the ***. He wouldnt sign at all, I even tried to overpay. but, he didnt sign anywhere else and I was easily able to sign in in Preseason. I also traded away Courtney Lee. Mainly because A) his age(30) and B) the signing of the defensive SF makes him replaceable. Loss of him, really puts pressure on my former D-League SG/SF to be my main scorer off bench.
I still have the tallest Team. Only 2 players under 6'6. I also have a great defensive team. I have 5 guys over 82 On-Ball D and 4 of them have 77+ Steal and 2 Centers with A- or better Post D. Having 5 out of 7 PGs-SFs on my team having 82+ On-Ball D gives us the ability to put any of them on any wing player. Heck my bench is very defensive. The rookie C I have has A- Post D. But, that is also a bad thing. Unless my bench sharpshooter is in with the bench, I dont have a scorer on my bench. I can probably find ways for them to score. It forces my offense to put up points.
Our roster is very young. We have noone over 27. I only have 2 players that I have to resign and they are my starters. Both of them says that are testing FA. It is my SF(Barnes) and my PF(Sullinger). I have about 18 mil in cap space. I want to extend them for a long contracts. If the PF I wanted to draft was there, Losing my PF wouldnt be a big deal. And since I lack Bench scorers now, Barnes is someone I want to keep.
I face LAL in the 1st game. With Kobe and Gasol being older, it should be alittle easier. I was able to shut down Kobe last game. I have to do a better job at Rebounding and getting my PG to score.Last edited by illwill10; 03-06-2012, 03:21 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
Andre Iguodala seems to want out of Philly after this year, as he says in his "Contract Thought" that he wants to test free agency. Totally unrealistic if you ask me, but now I'm thinking I might trade him but I dont want to do anything unrealistic like trade him for Monta and then leave the Warriors for FA. Any suggestions? Maybe I'll just let him walk and hope I can get him in FA & if not start Thad and tough it out? I mean, he is making roughly $16m next year. If you add that on top of our current cap, we'll have roughly around less than $24m after accepting paying players with backloaded contracts & accepting team options.
Im trying to avoid getting Lebron'd, but Iggy isn't exactly a star, so maybe the cap space will actually be better.
Opinions? Trade or FA?Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
So I decided to start up a Celtics association with a mission. I was determined to blow up the Big 3 but wanted to keep contending. I put Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen in the Trade Machine and got some interesting offers.
Kevin Garnett for Josh Smith and Zaza Pachulia
Ray Allen and '12 2nd Round pick for James Harden and Daequan Cook
Needless to say, I accepted these two offers and made a few other moves to strengthen my bench.
Pietrus, Jermaine O'Neal and '12 1st Round Pick for Serge Ibaka and Kendrick Perkins
Waived Pavlovic
Signed Terrico White (dude can dunk)
Chris Wilcox, Brandon Bass, Marquis Daniels, '13 2nd Round Pick for Trevor Ariza
Paul Pierce for Luol Deng
PG Rondo/Dooling/Bradley
SG Harden/White/Cook
SF Deng/Ariza
PF Smith/Ibaka/Johnson
C Perkins/Pachulia
So far we are 2-0 with close wins over Phily and Portland. Good depth, offensive rebounding, and clutch plays are what this team revolves around."Nastiness is required" - Sean Miller, Coach, University of ArizonaComment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
So I decided to start a new 30 team association in NBA 2k11. Because its NBA 2k11 I choose to start with the most updated rosters from the 2010-2011 season instead of the current season rosters. I simmed the first season making sure that the correct teams made the playoffs, the correct teams made it to the conference finals, and that Dallas won the championship. I also made sure the five worst teams were correct as well. I'm currently going through the offseason process, using online sources to make the correct resigning and draft the correct players. I'm gonna be taking over the Orlando Magic and I was originally just going to trade Howard and start a complete rebuilding process in Orlando, but I am starting to rethink that idea and maybe try to find away to compete and convince Howard to stay. I thought of a trade Idea and wanted to know what everyone thought. So here it is:
Magic receive:
Monta Ellis(from Warriors)
Steve Nash (from Suns)
Warriors receive:
Marcin Gortat (Suns)
1st round pick (Magic)
Jason Richardson (Magic)
Suns receive:
Future 2nd round pick (Magic)
Jameer Nelson (Magic)
Hedo Turkoglu or Justin Harper (Magic)
Also financially I have no idea if this would work, this was just off my head."Nastiness is required" - Sean Miller, Coach, University of ArizonaComment

How long are your games in association? Mine are 12minute qtrs but I don't really play any. For the people that play are your quarters on 12 mins? I would play more but a 12 minute game is so long. I like it on 12 minutes because the sim stats are realistic. But playing in a full 12 minute qtr game is long.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
I started an Association with the Cavs and traded away the whole team except for Kyrie Irving. I ended up getting 4 picks in the 1st round #1 #2 #7 #20. ALl of my trades were based around getting cap space and trading for guys with good trade value so I could get good draft picks.
I ended up having 40 million in cap space by the time free agency rolled around and I got JR Simth and Ryan Anderson in free agency along with some other guys. Still had 20 mil when free agency was over. My team looked like this going into the season:
Pg:Kyrie Irving (got his his outside game up to an A+)
Sg: Jr Smith
Sf: Jabari Parker ( reminds me of Lebron a little. Dropped 30 with him in my 1st game
PF: Ryan Anderson ( Wanted Kevin Love but couldn't get him and Anderson is a very similar player)
C: Nerloens Noel
Bench:
Omir Asik
Al Fuarq A Aminu
Chris Jennings
Tony Parker( Rookie)
Rasheed Saluimon(Rookie)
Kirk Hinrich
Earl Clark
I believe that is it.
My question is, Am i actually rebuilding by getting 4 1st round picks and getting the best 2 guys in the draft? I feel like I'm not really rebuilding I'm more of just stocking up my team. Then another part of me just feels like I am rebuilding because I'm bringing in young talent with a lot of potential.
Please leave your thoughts and comments I really want to know what other ppl think ThanksComment

Thanks man. My only issue was I felt ilke I was cheating because after 1 year I had the 2 best picks in the draft on my team. Like thats not realistic rebuilding.Comment

Yeah that doesn't really happen I mean it could but I doubt it. You're team should still be a success either way. It's a game , have fun with it.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
Game 2
Lakers play the Warriors at the Oracle Arena, Having came from a tough loss against Utah Jazz at the Staples Center, Lakers have to win this game.
First quarter was pretty dull, by the end of the first half, Lakers were leading 5 points but with the start of the 3rd quarter, the defence of the Lakers downhill and allowed Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis score at will.
With the game close by the end of 3rd quarter, if not for Shannon Brown, the game would probably be over by then. Thankfully in the 4th quarter, Kobe Bryant stepped up his game and the game ended in a 107-100 victory for the Lakers.
Kobe Bryant picked up Player of the Game with 43 points 4 rebounds 4 assist and single steal and block. While the Warriors had Ellis and Curry sharing 50 points and 12 assists between them.
Once again, another great performance by Kobe and Brown who looks like he could be a prime candidate for sixth man of the season. Gasol and Bynum also had great games with them having a double double with 14 points 12 rebounds and 11 points 12 rebounds respective. Things look to be turning well for the Lakers with new signing Jermaine O Neal gelling well with the team his he turned out 9 points and 6 rebounds while rookie PG Tony Wroten led the offense with 6 points and 4 assists.
With this victory at hand, the Lakers travel back to LA for an away game against the LA Clippers.
Game 3
Game 3 against the Clipper, the GM and Mike Brown both agree that they are letting the opponent score too easily from the mid range and 3 point zone. With a new defensive approach to this game, the Lakers found themselves with a 15 point lead at the end of the first half thanks to defensive efforts to force the turnover and missed shots.
However with the start of the 3rd quarter, Clippers' Blake Griffin and rookie SG Austin Rivers came out with fire to reduce the 15 points deficit to a close 7 points game. With the start of the 4th quarter, the Clippers led by veteran PG Chauncey Billups closed the gap and were even 5 points up at one time.
With 20 seconds remaining and the game tied at 88-88, Lakers rookie PG Wroten having a shot blocked by Griffin had themselves on the backfoot as Austin Rivers led the fastbreak against the Lakers. Thankfully for the Lakers, Bryant stole the ball from Rivers and dunked it in with only 13 seconds left. With the game at stake, the Clippers left the game winning 3 point for the on form rookie SG Rivers to fire it but evidently pressure from Bryant caused it to be nothing but air and Gasol picked up the ball with 3 seconds left to the buzzer.
Once again, Bryant picked up player of the game for the 2nd time in a row having a great scoring game of 34 points 4 rebounds 4 assists while Gasol had 17 points 6 rebounds 2 assists 3 steals and 3 blocks, a great defensive game.
Back up SG Shannon Brown came away with 14 points. Tayshaun Prince looked pretty solid for this game with 9 points and 5 rebounds in 3 quarters before being forced out by an injury. Bynum had a great game too with 7 points 9 rebounds and 2 steals and 4 blocks.
Lucky for the Lakers, Blake Griffins' 29 points 10 rebounds were not enough to take the victory against from the Lakers as they won 90-88. Noteworthy was perhaps rookie SG Austin Rivers who was instrumental in the Clippers come back as he had 14 points and 6 rebounds.
With game 3 behind them, the Lakers will play the Grizzlies at the Staples Center ending a 2 game roadtrip.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
I just started an association with the Cavs. I love Kyrie Irving so it will be fun playing with him. The difficulty is Superstar and the QTR lengths are 12 minutes.
Right off the bat I traded Anthony Parker and Ryan Hollins, to the Nets for Anthony Morrow and Shawne Williams. I'm a huge fan of Morrow and is 3-pt shot is deadly. The Cavs need a SG, too. Right now I have Alonzo Gee starting. I could have Morrow come off the bench or possibly start him over Gee later on in the season.
I currently have $4.03M Cap Room. The Cavs are about to play in their season opener against the Celtics. It should be a hard fought game, I'll be back with results and stats after the game.
All feedback and comments are welcomed about my team, thanks.Comment
