Those of you who ran/played in 2k11 LGs, how are you coping with online assoc?

Please don't move to the online forum. This isn't about people joining an online league but a discussion for folks who are struggling to duplicate the league experience in online association.

If you played in an league last year, you probably know by now that its virtually impossible to duplicate last year's experience. Its even worse for those who were in franchise leagues.

There are tons of issues with online association. Some of the bigger issues are that :

    - If you get out of league for whatever reason, you can never get back in
    - Admins can't :
    *Sim games
    *Advance the schedule
    *Approve trades
    *Reset games (huge huge issue)
    *Invite owners; drop owners
    *Change sliders

    - You can't play scrimmages vs others in your league (horrible)
    - The pre-rank system is trash. Somehow 2k has listed each player in order of their 'value'. Never-mind that you can't sort that list by position, name etc..

Now, folks are on their knees praying to the 2k god's that the NBA2k.com site will offer all of these features but let's be realistic. Most likely that site - if they ever get it done - will be for viewing stats, uploading stuff to twitter/youtube etc...

With that being said, please share your experience on how your leagues are fairing thus far. If you have any tips on how to get around some of the huge roadblocks that online association has to offer please share them here.

    It's just terribly frustrating, really.

The only truly enjoyable time is during the draft and immediately after, when you have 8 games available on your schedule.

I'm currently in an extremely active league (2 leagues merged their 15 most active players). We even have a chat room that consistently has 15-20 people in it during peak hours....yet it's still hard to find games thanks to the limited schedule. This isn't an acceptable scheduling system.

The lack of a "who's online" lobby is a massive blunder too. If you're going to leave that out, at least give us the option to select players names on our schedule and view their gamercard. Right now you have to send friend requests just to see who's online, it's a mess.

I would have been satisfied had they given us the exact same league format from last season, without a single upgrade.

Don't like it, only positive thing about is the fact that you have all 30 teams(I like how CPU controls teams that weren't picked) and free agency.

Being a hard core Online League player, I give Online Assoc a 5/10 rating. Every negative points given by the OP is legit.

As of now, we don't have a workaround with the shortcomings of this mode. We are just stuck to playing test leagues and hopelessly waiting for NBA2K.com to give the admins ability to reset games.

Hopefully when the patch comes, it will adjust the number of playable scheduled games. Make it at least 15 or 20.

I'm on the other side of the spectrum.

Hated the TERRIBLE unbalanced trades that I saw in leagues last year so I love the trade system in 2K12.I'm happy that Admins can't push thru all these stupid trades (Kobe for Eddie House) and that 2K has a say.

The speed at which games is played is fine for me though it is a bit of a chore now compared to last year. I like that everyone is on a similar pace like the real NBA. I didn't like that one person in a league could be 15-1 whereas another user was 3-1...you had no idea where teams ranked. I do miss knowing when different people are online.

It is definitely frustrating that games are summed and you may end up losing a game you more than likely were going to win but I guess it's to force the pace. I'm in an active 30 user league where about 20 users are active daily. Those 10 inactive users hold us back but we are currently replacing them. I wish maybe you can only sim/reset 5 games per season to balance things out a bit.

Overall I would give the Online Association a 7/10 with the potential to reach and 8/9 if certain things are worked out...

The season I am currently in is in mid Jan. A 29 game season so we haven't even touched the playoffs or offseason/2nd season yet. I think I may give a higher rating after we go thru all of that.

some things they added are good like trade system or advancing schedule. but they just took out WAY too many things from the leagues that made it work. WHO IS ONLINE! RESET GAMES! INVITE PEOPLE! my league was full and for some reason my friend got dropped out without him even quitting, HAD TO START THE ENTIRE LEAGUE OVER

I like the feature even as limited as it is (compared to offline and last year lg options) ... then again, the 5 things that are really bothering me are:

                  - The insane amount of Drops (network errors), even after the patch ... seems like that part of the game wasnt affected by it.

                  - The simmed games after drops (network errors) and not beeing able to manually reset/sim games on private associations.

                  - The limited playable games availables of the schedule, even with a 30 user OA is hard to play a game ... maybe increasing it to 2 weeks would suffice and would not affect the structure stability of having all teams with a similar amount of played games.

                  - Not having the option for custom sliders.

                  - Not beeing able to invite and "reinvite" users to private associations.

Don't get your hopes up, Ronnie tweeted a few weeks ago that NBA2K.com likely wouldn't have resets as an option.

@Nujerzze I'll ask about resetting simulated games but that might not be fixable because it wasn't built that way originally.

@StreetSweepaz I'm w/ you, we should let you reset games if you want for Online Association. But it's a new feature that'd have to be built

I just can't get into it. The lack of customizable sliders makes the game 3pt friendly. Playing the CPU on anything above All-Star is a lost cause because of the CPU's inherent cheating, and even All-Star you have to play damn near perfect and chuck 3s to even have a shot against the CPU. CPU's comeback AI and ability to score even when you play perfect D makes it frustrating as hell to play them.

This has just been a huge disappointment to me. Especially after the insight where they said Private Associations would let admins control every aspect, and we can't control the aspects listed by the OP. Just a huge blunder IMO. I don't think they should have rolled this out unless they had everything or at least half the customizable options that were available in 2K11 online leagues. The basic option to reset games is a must.
