now if you want to stop the cpu - you can play good defense and stop them. and if you want to score, you make good decisions and you will succeed. the outcome is in the hands of the user now.
      hey blues rocker,
what you just said is the feeling I am looking for! I still feel the cpu cheese anything above pro.
what difficulty and settings are you using? what do you have the defensive assist slider set at under my controller options?

I was playing on Superstar/sim and Hall of Fame/sim - even on Hall of Fame i didn't see too much cheese.

i don't mess with the defensive assist, so i guess mine is just at default.

maybe that's it then - I mostly tested with default sliders (AS and HOF) since 2k decided that we shall not change the slider set in online associations. we have to play with the default slider sets. thanks for the input. btw, how about clutch factor? on / off ? I feel like, although it should only affect the last two minutes of the game and end of quarters, it makes a difference on the cpu cheese thing. it might be placebo. idk.

i had clutch factor on, and even then the CPU was still missing shots when it should - there were a few cheese shots by the CPU in the 3rd and 4th quarter, but i think that could've been due to the clutch factor being on.

yea and those "cheese' shots by the cpu in the 3rd and 4th quarters don't even compare to the cheese of cpu pre-patch. I would say the cpu plays good as hell down the stretch. i really see star players trying to put the game away. I'm loving it.

When guys say the game is easier, we're saying that the cheapness factor is pretty much gone. Yes, there is still some mirroring and on-ball defense is still problematic, but the CPU isn't playing above itself anymore. You can now contest shots and actually affect the shot percentage. Your A.I. teammates also play smarter. To me, those things have nothing to do with some learning curve. Those are elements that should have been available to the user from the jump. All I wanted is that feeling that my actions impact the game. Some of us actually know the game of basketball and aren't complaining about the game pre-patch because we're sore losers. Saying the game is easier on the higher settings just means that the CPU is actually beatable with proper play and execution. Even Da Czar didn't play on that difficulty at launch. Are you going to say he doesn't know basketball either?
What I am saying, is the same thing I've said in my last several posts. I will reserve judgement for when I experience it myself, as I would imagine anyone of you would do also. I understand whats being said, but as my previous post should have communicated, all that is irrelevant because much of it is perception/opinion. The computer is beatable with proper play and execution out the box. I play on superstar/sim, have no cheese tactics in me and am able to win at a realistic clip. Were there AI favored imbalances? Absolutely. I don't think any basketball video game has ever been perfect or ever will be.

I appreciate you sharing your feedback and it is noted. I might agree with you when I experience the patch and I might not.

Is it perfect not at all. Has the playability been eased. . . feels like it has to me, but that's a good thing as it's still very challenging to play on pro/allstar. I haven't tried superstar yet.

Somethings I noticed right off the top that I wished where addressed are

                    1. Boxing out on rebounds.
                    2. Effective double teams.
                    3. Pick-and-roll play.
                    4. Fast break catch-up speed reduced.
                    5. Cpu recovery speed reduced.

I haven't touched Association, My Player or Online yet. I want to wait until the majority of the NBA transactions have been completed or a newly custom hex edited roster becomes available cough*(PP,Tomba and crew)

As for everyone making your BLIND impressions when you don't even have the patch or let alone the game. . . just stop-it. Stop with all the history repeats itself BS ok. Get it. . . and voice your own impression(s).

Thanks to 2K for the hook-up but I really who've been highly impressed if my 5 game-play issues above would've gotten addressed. NBA 2K12 is still a really good game of basketball.
I didn't make any blind impressions. I merely said I will reserve my opinion for when I experience the patch and that some of the impressions in the PS3 thread do not necessarily excite me. Funny how sensitive some guys are. It's simply how I feel about it. Doesn't mean the patch does or does not improve the game.

yeah man - last night (after patch) I saved at least 5 snapshots and 1-2 replays with the same thing happening. This is how they get the run going in the first place too. amazing how they went backwards on collision detection.
