Re: NBA 2K12 Patch 1.04 Details, Arrives Tomorrow

Any word on if this patch will address the "god-like" CPU and improve teammate AI? Or will it address how the CPU always seems to make a run in the 4th quarter that makes the games seem almost rigged?

I play My Player mode the most and I'm hoping someone can answe these...I hate playing the games and feeling like the game is rigged when I start missing everything and my opponent shoots 80% 3's to end the game

I'm not saying I'm right to assume their will be more patches, but its not right to assume this is it either, based off the their history I would believe there will be more patches. And if they don't fix the ball physics or collision system and the speed factor after this patch, then I will not be buying a 2k13.
That's the point I'm making: They have already released three patches. As my wife would say, I'm not being negative, I'm being realistic. I've been a member of OS for nine years. I've been active in the NBA 2K boards since this site's creation. I have never recalled a year when 2K released more than two patches for any given game. Now maybe they did so for their MLB or NHL games (back when they had one). I can't say because I don't play either of series, but I know for a fact they haven't released any patches for their basketball games following the "big" one.

For the record, I was asking an honest question because I thought maybe you knew something that I didn't.

LOL @ you calling me negative. I'm probably the most optimistic person I know

Yeah, that one sucks. My own needs are more selfish as I almost exclusively play offline classic associations and you really can't when all the legends retire prematurely due to their birth dates.

Try sliders, because they take out alot of the things you all are complaining about. We are lucky because they don't have to do anything after the game drops.
Patch 1.04 is the first patch? Hmmmm... I wonder what happened to 1.01, 1.02, 1.03. Seems odd... no?

If my memory serves me correct NBA 2k10 had 2 patches that addressed gameplay issues one came out in late Nov. and another one dropped mid Jan. Early Feb. I only remember one major patch for NBA 2K11 though

You didn't hear? Congress signed a new law making the numbers 1 - 3 illegal. Every count must start at 4 now.

WOW I thought this was the adult forum, what has happen to Operation Sports, why don't most of you wait to play the game post patch before overrating.

Yeah, I'm not saying that 2k doesn't release multiple patches for a single game. I'm saying that they typically don't release anymore after designated major patches. We're already three patches deep on 2K12, so I'm not expecting anymore patches after this one. Of course, I would welcome it if 2K wanted to prove otherwise.

The patch does have some good thing in it but the two biggest that this forum has seen mentioned, fastbreak defense (in general) and the headfakes/post moves by EVERYONE haven't been touched. A little concerning, that.

Granted I think the up and under thing seems to be a tendency issue everyone has a high post move up and under tendency and that kicks in when they're in the lane. Its whatever though I'm still enjoying the game it just annoys me the CPU plays the Spurs 02 finals fastbreak defense against the Nets against me all the time even on pro. I really have to make my decision on the break extremely early and in some cases not make the ideal play. Again, its whatever though won't stop me from enjoying NBA 2k.

Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised, but this doesn't look good at all. Not only did 2K11 play better overall out of the box and after the final patch, it got a better patch in half the time. I'm strongly suspecting a good portion of the team was working on the DLC instead of patching the game, hence the long wait and the pithy amount of fixes. It does seem really strange to me that the discussion Da_Czar started that dealt in depth with passing and hit heavily on fast break issues only resulted in a tweak to lob passes. I hope there's more than what's listed changed under the hood. Have any past fixes been left off the patch list before?

Anyway, it feels like 2K decided to gamble a lot of its good will from 2K11 to provide a questionable DLC to increase cash flow because of the lock out. It seems to me that they would have been better off focusing on delivering polish this year and set up a loyal customer base next year when EA returns. Before I wanted EA's Live to just die in a fire. Now I'm seeing that Live's existence is necessary to keep 2K on its toes. I believe 2K will still push themselves in terms of delivering gameplay enhancements even with no competition. It's in their DNA. But without a competitor, they are probably less motivated to make sure the overall package is tight, polisthed, and mostly bug and frustration free, and more prone to make player-unfriendly decisions.
