I've noticed ALOT more over the back calls. Stealing from behind isn't as easy. If you don't box out, you are screwed. LOL

Re: NBA 2K12 Patch 1.04 Available Now - Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
Okay just had another run against the Spurs on All-Star, Sim and later with toned down clutch and driving contact. Still haven't won, and lost in the last seconds partly due to CPU clutch shots twice.
3rd quarter boost seems much more toned down. I don't get blown out in the 3rd as much.
However, end of game superhuman clutch cheese is still in full effect. Spin layups and 3's that don't miss. Unfun.
Manu is also sinking low-graded buzzer beaters, and it seems like the CPU sinks a lot of C's and D's while I can struggle to make A's at times. I've also had the CPU get graded a A for shots where I have a defender contesting, and I've gotten C's and D's with space that the CPU would make shots regularly with.
I THINK passing issues have improved a bit-- I still turn the ball over plenty due to psychic defense, guys not going to the ball, and my own stupidity, but it doesn't seem quite as bad as it was pre-patch. I didn't encounter too many ridiculous pass selections. Overall, it felt a bit more like 2K11: a bit more steal happy, but only marginally frustrating. There was one ridiculous steal where Blair was on the opposite side of where the ball was being passed and launched himself across the receiver cutting to the basket to steal the pass. Ridiculous.
This is REALLY REALLY frustrating: Instead of an easy straight layup with the protected hand, baseline drives will lead to double clutch circus shots that expose the ball from the baseline to the defenders in the paint. This happens about 80% when you've beaten your man to the paint. You're rewarded with a block and if you're lucky, a foul. I used to live off these in 2K11. Now on the rare instances I beat the CPU to the paint, I set myself up for a block.
I saw one instance of a CPU double team when Ellis got hot for a brief moment. Really.
Dribble penetration is still nearly impossible-- unless you just lay off the turbo and casually dribble pass the defender. That makes absolutely no sense. I don't know who at 2K thought this was a good idea. It renders isomotion this year nearly useless, both because you can't readily get around the defender and because it's easier just to slowly dribble past them. I know Manu is moderately fast but would Monta Ellis really have that much trouble getting by him? He's also constantly warping to stay in front of me. What's the solution here, turn down on-ball defense? Isomotion last year was much more fun, because the CPU actually had significant momentum you can game. You could even drive by your defender at the right angle to avoid the bumping. Does that work this year? I haven't seen it much.
Not much boxing out, but it feels like I get more offensive rebounds.
Overall it doesn't feel too different from pre-patch. Perhaps it reduced the frustration factor a little bit in reducing 3rd quarter momentum and alleviating some passing issues, so sure, it's somewhat improved, but the game is still very frustrating at one difficulty notch above normal. What's the point of having so many difficulty levels if only one plays fairly and the rest are extremely difficult through rapidly rising levels of CPU cheese and difficulty achieving NBA staples? Maybe it's time to just play on Pro/Default.
This really needs one more patch before we can start considering its overall gameplay as approaching 2K11's patched. Most likely, this is what we're stuck with. Unfortunate, as it only needs a few tweaks to take advantage of all the work 2K has put into in individual areas, but it seems 2K was distracted by the DLC.
This brought up a thought-- is it too difficult if I have as much more or more difficulty with a team as the real Warriors do? Am I wrong to expect to be able to beat them with some effort? I don't mind losing-- I do kind of mind losing when I've worked hard and I'm up, and Manu and Parker start hitting 3's and spin-layuping their way to victory.Last edited by Sundown; 12-15-2011, 09:06 AM.Comment

Clutch Factor really messes this game up, why the hell would 2k add an abomination of a setting onto this game?
I keep keeping it on, and CPU always come back from a 15 point lead.
Note to you all, turn clutch factor / slider off.Comment

I find it way easier with it off. The problem with it on is that CPU automatically makes tough shots with the hands in your face, no matter what you do, and you start going cold from the field.
I've beaten the Bulls by 23 with it off.
Just played a game against the Wizards with the Lakers, i was up by 25, i had clutch factor on without even knowing it, and the CPU was all like "It's time" started hitting everything from the field.
I find clutch factor better off. Overall, this patch was alright, it wasn't anything special, but it did balance out the game a bit better.
Problems with the game:
- CPU still does those ****ty *** pump fake moves, take that out.
- Some lay-ups can't be defended.
- Morphing
- Overpowered Rebounding.
- CPU scores a lot in the paint
Take those four things out of this game, and this game could be something special, but those four things are pretty annoying. It isn't game killing for me, but it's very annoying.
Good things about the patch:
- CPU doesn't wait until the shot clock is at 5 to take a shot. They move the ball around, look for a good shot. Basically, the CPU is more smarter. You see the CPU actually running their plays better, throwing ally oops.
- The passes. The passes are way better post patch, it's a bit overpowered, but it's not that overpowered.
- Because of the passes, pick and roll is a bit better. That's if the person setting the pick actually rolls.
- My player mode feels more smooth. No more bull**** CPU trading. Once you become the star, you actually tell the ownership what / who to trade..
- Association trading logic improved. You still get ONE goofy trade. Like the trade i saw yesterday, Nuggets traded NENE for Joe Johnson. Other than that, the trades make sense.
- When you defend your opponent, and you push him in the back court, you get a foul called on you.
Overall, i'll give this patch a 3/5
It isn't spectacular, but it did improve a lot of things. Made the game more enjoyable then it has been..though there is still a bit of problems with the game, hopefully the next patch can settle those.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 Patch 1.04 Available Now - Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
The problem is that people say association is broken by the 3rd year because players start doing stupid things, stats are messed up, there is no double team, so I really don't know how people can seriously play this game as a simulation.
2k is a disgrace on so many levels.
And don't let me start about the fact that the game is never balanced. The community is actually doing their work...Comment
