Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion
Alright guys, I need some help with a trade. I'm closing in on the trade deadline in year one of my 30 team association. I'm primarily using the Wizards, and my goal is to begin a rebuilding process by getting rid of all the headcases, starting with Andray Blatche. What's everyone's opinion on the following 3 team trade:
Washington receives:
Channing Frye (from PHX)
Matt Carroll (from CHA)
Cory Higgins (from CHA)
1st round draft pick (from PHX - lottery protected in 2013, top 5 protected in 2014, top overall protected in 2015, unprotected in 2016)
Phoenix receives:
Andray Blatche (from WAS)
Kevin Seraphin (from WAS)
Maurice Evans (from WAS)
Desagna Diop (from CHA)
2012 2nd round draft pick (from CHA)
Charlotte receives:
Hakim Warrick (from PHX)
Shannon Brown (from PHX)
Robin Lopez (from PHX)
The Wizards have to take on a couple of bad contracts in Frye and Carroll and have to part ways with a young frontcourt prospect in Seraphin, but in return they get someone to take Blatche (and his not so great contract) off their hands and they get a first round draft pick.
Suns get a very skilled big man in Blatche and a nice young prospect in Seraphin, plus they get the bad contracts of Warrick and Frye off the books. They also get a 2nd round pick that could be pretty good depending on how Charlotte finishes. They have to part ways with a young center in Lopez, but Gortat is obviously their guy in the middle for years to come. They also have to give up a first rounder, but the pick is protected enough that it won't come back to haunt them assuming they improve over the next few years. They also take back a pretty bad contract in Diop, but it's worth it since they're losing the longer term deals of Frye and Warrick.
Charlotte gets rid of two bad contracts in Diop and Carroll, and they add a nice young center prospect in Robin Lopez and a good scoring combo guard in Brown. They have to take on Warrick's bad contract, but overall I think this trade makes them a more balanced team. They get rid of two non-factors in Carroll and Diop while taking on two guys who can step in and contribute right away in Lopez and Brown.
Mo Evans and Cory Higgins are merely filler to make the trade work.

Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion
From my perspective, I think if you run this trade you can leave out Phoenix's first rounder. Or at least do what the cavs/kings did where you lottery protect it for three years and then remove the Suns of their obligations if they don't make the playoffs. It just seems like they are giving up way too much. Maybe I am undervaluing Blatche and Seraphin though"You come at the King, you best not miss..."Comment

Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion
You guys are probably right about the pick. I think I'll do the lottery protection for 3 years and then absolve it if the Suns don't make the playoffs in that 3 year span.
Would it be better for the Suns if instead of Shannon Brown going to the Bobcats they send Josh Childress? Or is Childress' contract such that that would kill the deal for Charlotte?Comment

From what I saw on your assoc, I don't think you have the parts to trade just with NY for Lin...a 3rd team would def have to be involvedComment

Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion
I have to agree with MrPolo. From a Knicks fan's perspective, I just don't see anyone on your team I'd want besides your rookies. And even then we have those positions filled. Sorry, I couldn't be of more help.Comment

I'm sure there could be a trade there, but that's fine, any third team suggestions?Updates on Twitter: 2KstauffComment

Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion
Id find a team that could use one of those you listed, get at least a first from them and swing their pick as well as your first, maybe both firsts (depends on how Lin is doing in your assoc)...I dunno I just would assume trying to pry Lin away from NY at this point would be about impossibleComment

Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion
Here is the problem with trading Lin. He is on a minimum contract. New York has Anthony, STAT, and Chandler taking up nearly all their cap, then a bunch of guys making 2M or less. Most of the valueable players for Toronto make much more than that. It will be hard for the Knicks to get anything of value back, unless you just want to send picks. And even for an unprotected Raptors pick, I don't know that NY would do it. They want to win now and need a PG. NY has no bad contracts. Unless you just took every role player they had, its going to be hard to match salaries. NY would likely want a PG replacement, but it is hard to find one nearly as good as Lin on a similar salary.
If you can find a way to make the $ work, Bayless, Davis, and Calderon are the best assets you have. Bargnani's salary is too high for a guy off the bench and DeRozan doesn't fit the system in NY.Last edited by volstopfan14; 02-23-2012, 10:24 PM.Tennessee Volunteers

B.Eds is in the second year of his association though, so we really need to know what his contract is now in his assoc. before working out what will/will not work from a $ standpoint."You come at the King, you best not miss..."Comment
