    Re: Fumbling Passes

I think there should be a dedicated video thread for all these complaints. That way the legit issues dont't get buried with the garbage. People who just want to complain and bitch will have their true intentions more easily exposed this way as well.

pressing turbo while going up court and passing will lead to alot of fumbled passes. but that depends on who makes the pass.

its all about ball control- the more control you have the less bobbled passes there are.
post passes- I wait for my big man to establish position, make sure he looks in the direction of the pass, then execute the pass.

fast break its just big man rebounds, and passes out without hitting the turbo button. once you do that the pass will most likely be fumbled.

passing to a man running to the corner three-again ease off the turbo let the player get in posotion then pass.

I see the logic behind the system, it could use some fine tuning, but once you figure out the game situation it becomes a non issue. it seems like 2k implemented this like a qb leading his receiver.
once 2k implements dynamic passing like CH2k8 this issue will become really a non issue.

        Re: Fumbling Passes

I'm not sure how anyone can defend the way it's implemented now, or the ball movement as a whole.

It's damn near impossible to play a proper inside out game, since every big in this game has a horrible pass rating. Even if I'm kicking it out to a wide open shooter the reception is rarely ever clean. I was playing a friend the other day and I paused the game to replay a wide open kick out from Brand-Iguodala I attempted, in which the pass was directly thrown to the shooting pocket, but of course bounced off Iggy's arms(what's his hands rating, 99?), landed between his legs, and then was eventually picked up off the ground (though he struggled with that at first too). Cue the clown music, we had a good laugh. It was as if Brand threw a toddler a tennis ball.

Though I don't really play ranked games anymore, the reason 95% of users on their play zone defense all game is because ball movement is simply too slow to consistently beat a zone, largely due to the fumbled/slow receptions (it's not just the dropped passes that are an issue, receiving the ball in general takes far too long from catch to shoot on average).

Ball movement is one area in 2k12 that doesn't come close to mimicking real life, not even close. I'm convinced the touch pass feature isn't even there anymore, because I'm unable to get anything resembling a touch pass when swinging the ball on the perimeter. If you consider receiving the ball, turning your entire upper body, then throwing an overhead pass a touch pass, please don't respond.

Sure, I'll get the occasional great, quick pass followed by a smooth reception, but I shouldn't have to feel grateful that these supposed NBA players were able to complete such a simple fundamental task properly.

        Fix it!

I'm not shocked to see that people think this is used to cheat people.
Watch enough hoops like i do and then play this game and it seems about the same. But then again, i dont make bad passes when I control players.

I'm pretty sure 2k takes into account the players' pass rating, hands rating and what your pass accuracy slider is at. If you feel there is too many bobbles adjust the slider. I think the default is fine for bobbles.

you must clearly be talking about online.
cause off line the inside outside, swinging the ball around the perimeter is actually done well.
could the system be more responsive, yes, but its not overly out of whack.

I actually like the post up game. letting my big establish position, then passing the ball to him, backing the man down and waiting to see what the extra defender is going to do and having him pass out to the open cutter or shooter is a thing of beauty.

too bad the extra defender couldnt do a real double team, but the defender cheating/ sliding off his man gives the user enough info to figure out what to do next.

its a thing of beauty especially if your style of play is a half court game. I cant complain at all!!

I'm okay with random mistakes-- if they occured in same frequency as real life, under the same conditions, and IF THEY ALSO HAPPENED TO THE CPU. I rarely see the CPU bobble passes, but it happens to you with disturbing frequency especially when you are down. If you knew it was fair, you would appreciate the realism and know that things even out in the end. It's the fact that the CPU seems to cheat in a myriad of ways-- consistent comebacks, unstoppable spin moves, making difficult end of clock shots regularly while you brick A+'s and blow layups-- that makes bobbled passes at a key points in the game the straw that breaks the camel's back.

We rarely see the CPU blow open layups, miss uncontested dunks, bobble passes, overanticipate on steals, or get called for charging or travelling. I do like that it throws passes away sometimes, and it makes me feel a little bit better when it happens to me.

                Re: Fumbling Passes

In my offline experience, all that is needed is a bit toning down the frequency, and the ball handling ratings involved with passing (eg passing, hands) having more impact.

If the percentage of time it happens would be reduced by 10% I think the occurrences per game would feel about correct.

Where I cringe, is when guys like Steve Nash initiate passes that are within their capabilities to receivers who have decent "hands" ratings, and the "fumble" animations kick in ... it does happen, but the rarity of it doing so is not reflected in the game.
