Does Live shoot 3's fromt he corner? Is the comeback logic unrealistic?

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

He is right fella's...the CPU doesn't move the ball to the corners properly. There ARE corner three's, but it's normally pretty rare. It's dissapointing, as the game has never seemed to get this right.

Having said that...I am still really enjoying the game and looking forward to Jazz's edits

I've edited a fair bit myself, some of the ratings are ridiculous...

I guess the final words is...ESPN takes far too few corner J's, LIVE 04 absolutely has no offensive / defensive rebounding battles to speak of.

Having forked out my cash for both, I'd prefer BOTH got simple things like this correct...

Neither have though, and I can live without many corner 3's (even though it pisses me off). I'm not prepared to play a whole season if LIVE though and not see a decent rebounding war

JUST my opinion...but I saw a board, miss, board, miss, CPU got it again and threw it down in ESPN that just had me standing up and yelling.

LIVE just doesn't have that...and, while it's also very good, man do I love a rebounding battle.
I used to have Barkley and Rodman posters up and none of MJ or Larry...so maybe it's just me, but I love battling the baords!

From what I've played, Live does run an offense and shoot 3's from the corner. Things that ESPN NBA Basketball don't do.

By the way, even if I WANTED to return it, I wouldn't get full credit, so what's the point? I'd rather keep this game and use it to compare for the next. Besides, 24/7's not too bad, so for me, ESPN NBA Basketball is no longer the "sim" that it claimed to be but just a great arcade game. Disappointing, but I guess they knew that some fans would see right through their claims of a simulation and threw in a good arcade game to hook them in even though they might not get into the "sim". Of course, I'm being petty in trying to discern their motives for including 24/7 and I doubt that was their reasoning at all. However, I do doubt their knowledge of basketball if they think this game is the truest representation of the NBA.

As for whether I'd find good sliders that would fix the lack of corner 3-point shots or not, well, you never know. That's the whole point of sliders, to fix things that are wrong. Sometimes they can give you surprisingly good results (unfortunately not the case for ESPN NBA Basketball), other times they just fix minor flaws but the ones that are most glaring go unchecked and the game collects dust in the corner.

Neo...the question of 'best' representation of the NBA should be taken literally.

Ie, which of the games 'best' represents the NBA.

Even if both are crap and hardly like the NBA...one of them still will be closer.

IMO neither game is perfect, but ESPN is closer.

In ESPN the cpu doesn't set up it's offense properly. The only corner 3's are from post up's getting kicked out...or the shot clock ticking down and they jack it up...

In LIVE, Ben Wallace watches as the offensive boards drop. Stands there and watches. Shawn Bradley takes a D board, and without looking (or even landing ) turns and throws an outlet pass that hits a streaking Dirk on the chest.

            It's frustrating both ways...

This reminds me so much of something that happened the other day.

My brother recently split up from a girl he dated for 8 years. She was a stunner. Really great body, smile...the works. Personally, I never liked her much as she was a bit 'elitist' and I don't like that.

He just met a new girl about 6 months ago...and she's one of the coolest chicks I've met. Great personality, best heart you could wish to find, everythings great about her.

Except that she's about 5 kilos over weight.

She's not fat by any way...just a tiny bit of a belly.

Now, my brother got drunk with me the other night and said that he's thinking of splitting up with her because "she's a bit fat".

I said to him, it's up to you man...you can enjoy what you've got and think how farking lucky you are.

Or, you can let a small think bother you...and move on unhappy.

Like with my brother, it's up to you

Monkey - If you've been into player's rating menu you will know what part of the problems there are, and I presume you have. You see some Star guards are given a 97 close shot rating which during gameplay without adjustments, you will see ( and I know many of us has ) them take quick shots whether they're are open or not.

So, the idea of reducing player ratings is not to deviate them, it's just toning their tendencies for quick shots so on and so forth. That goes with all the players. I just kinda see who, what, when and where these players are doing during an actual NBA game. Then afterwards attempt to emulate as close as possible in the fine tuning dept, ala " slider settings".

Hey Jazz, it's a matter of getting the ratings and offensive awareness right. Personally, I tend to mix it around depending on teams (ie, I have it maxed for Dallas, and lower for the Knicks) to change the game pace.

Theres a guy over at gamefaq.com who is doing an EXTENSIVE ratings list. Check it out.
