Re: EXPLAINING THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SIZEUPS

Ironwood, I appreciate the help. I have been reading the posts in this forum for a while now, but I signed up just to post a reply to you. I'm a average player and only have been playing 2k for the past two years so I'm still learning the physics. I have a couple questions.

    1. When executing each individual sizeup, are you tapping LT each time, or are you holding LT and flicking the stick?

These next two are kind of tied together...

    2. At what point do you flick the left stick to string the animation together?

    3. What is the rhythm that you use to keep the sizeup animation continuous to the next level sizeup, or are you going from sizeup to crossover animation?

    4. How do you use the sizeup without the player fatigue level going to gatorade? Lol, but seriously.

    5. Lastly for forward sizeup, do you mean moving the left stick forward and tapping LT at the same time?

I'm pretty sure there are others who already understand a lot of this already so sorry if I sound stupid everyone. I'm a married guy with kids so my playtime is limited, so I usually just play ranked online but lately it had been acting weird with lag and play not corresponding with input I'm giving it. So any help would be greatly appreciated. And if anyone else may have answers to my questions please feel free to answer. Ironwood seems like a busy guy and he may not respond.

first off my wife is the only person that calls me ironwood but thats o.k lol
i am explaining this in the 2k camera. so up ....is up......back is back .......... left is left......... right is right.

ok here we go ill try to answer every question as best i can. if i miss something please ask again.
when i am doing any of these moves im holding LT at all times. the only time i let go off LT is to explode, change direction or go into a escape dribble pull up.
now when moveing foward you will get tired faster then moveing left to right.

each sizeup has a different follow up. depending on how fast you move the sticks.
you really have to find one your comfortable doing and practice. try out forward L3 17 and cross left to right L2 cross 7.
these are the ones that i started on. i have videos on utube crappy quality but its something for now. check it out and then come back and ill help you more if you need it.

now when you are doing a foward sizeup its all about rhythm. you will see him go into another animation. remember you have to watch the defender. act and react according to what space the defense gives you.

Re: EXPLAINING THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SIZEUPS

My bad on the name. Lol. I'll work on it tomorrow and let you know how it goes. I've only used the crosses and size ups available to me on my player to practice. I'm only at 81. I probably should use the real players to practice. When you explode out are you 'rolling' the left stick away from the defender and toward the basket like a ryu uppercut? Or do you move the stick directly and more straight forward. I get a lot of the contact animation after I beat the defender he's on my hip and I'm already in the layup animation. I hate that cause a lot of times I miss and it's a no call. But thanks again for the tips.

What I realised when I played with my MP that has sizeup Great and speed and quickness 99... I should be able to beat almost anybody anytime right? Wrong.. I was able to take Rose, Rondo and other great perimeter defenders(at least by 2K standards) when I picked my battles.. What I want to say is you can't iso yourself every attack and expect to drive and dunk/lay it up.. You aren't Kobe in his prime.. You have to take what defender gives you, and by that I mean when he is slightly out of position just drive..don't hesitate..

True, size up are great but sometimes the situation doesn't call for it. You can just walk, run, turbo or use that jab step or protect the ball/backdown explode when the defender is off balance or trying to come over to defend you. Sometime I'm able to beat a defender with just right stick movements. There is sort of a little size up mechanics, if you flick the right stick up,down, right, left which you can incorporate with the L2 size ups. 2k movement is deep.

he has sick side crosses bro. you control the speed of the cross like i said pressure sensitive bro. please go back and read my thread or hit me up on xbox and ill help you more. hope this help you.

Great video. I'm glad you highlighted the right stick movements in the vid for getting space. I sort of use it as a alternative size ups on defenders and able to have success with it. What I wish I could do on 2k is choosing which hand I want to initiate movement by walking instead running or turbo. I think we need to explore the aspects of walking on 2k.

correct what i try to do is shot mid range jumpers the whole fist period. reason being they will sag off you in the early quarters. so i take what the defense gives me. i enjoy playing chess with the CPU. EVENTUALLY THEY WILL START TO PLAY YOU TIGHT. that is the time to pounce lol.

So we can add you on XBL to learn in more detail about the sizeups? I'd love to learn more, I get the main stuff down like the left or right sizeups then leads to a spin on the opposite side (or the behind the back/crossover motion). I never really knew when to use the escape dribble besides desperate last sec shot situations lol.
