I do like my player but the logic needs to be addressed and before anyone says oh you need to keep passing, I do I look for the assit more than my scoring I try to play like Rajon Rondo; tight defense good passing and a few points. But it doesn't help when players start running around after receiving a wide open pass or my centers taking fadeaways when in the post.

Re: My Player teams are terrible
My fix for this was simple.....Don't play PG or SG. I moved to C or PF and some how the team became a train, guys were hitting shots left and right, utilizing picks, shooting from behind screens. The only flaw to the moving to C is that now on the flip side the CPU wont pass the ball inside, so im forced to work on the rebounds for the team grade, not a lot of points but Ive read that with team chemistry will come the inside passes.Maple Leafs ][ Blue Jays ][ Raptors ][ Bears

Re: My Player teams are terrible
1 ) listen you can call plays as a shooting guard you have to get your assists up
same as last year when people where crying about 2k taking away the option to call your own plays post patch. if you avg. 8 or more assist per game the 2k insider came and said the coach is now giving you the option to call plays. this year the same thing occurs minus the 2k insider.
2) get the ball inside to post players for easy baskets. my player is all about momentum. get assists steals blocks easy high percentage shots and your teammates will hit shots. i had a my player on the magic and it was very very fun. also learn your teammates individual plays. play with run plays on. and actually run the plays.
3) rebounding is soooo easy. if you are a PG dont shoot the ball unless your team is in position and boxed out. if you throw up bricks and theres nobody there to rebound what do you expect. box out people and you will rebound better.
4) the first 2 season on myplayer are supposed to be hard your teamate chemistry is not there and you are gonna lose. ive had 7 different myplayers and the same result everytime. either request a trade to a better team or tough it out ive done both.
2. I'm not a big post-up guy because it's a bit static. I prefer to run Pick and Rolls, and screens for shooters. Don't worry, I call plays. It's just that some players aren't very receptive to actually finishing them.
3. I'm not worried about the offensive rebounding, I'm used to that being low, like in every 2k game. I'm more frustrated with the defensive rebounding. I get about 6 boards a game because that's the only way to keep my team from getting completely destroyed on the board.
4. Played the first season on Pro difficulty, won the championship. I'm currently a 98 overall, and it's going pretty well. The only issue is that
A) Certain players just don't play properly when on your team
B) The computer can make teams much better in game than they are in simulation. (The Kings and the Wizards are great examples of this)Comment

Re: My Player teams are terrible
The OP is right, beyond the basics of basketball on defense and offense, those are the keys to winning consistently.
As the Knicks PG (Drafted 17th), we're tearing it up on Superstar Difficulty. I'm averaging 23/11/5 and averaging 2 SPG and 1.5 BPG on 53% shooting. We're 2nd in the East (Heat), and those things have been key to our success, especially when the play breaks down, ball movement, getting it into the post, and setting screens on the outside really lets your team-mates open themselves up for scores. Also, playing tight ball-hopping defense, especially on the perimeter does wonders for the flow of the opposition possessions, and gives them less time to score/make decisions. Getting steals is important, as it leads to run-outs and easy transition baskets/fouls.
I'm the leading candidate for MVP, 4th in DPOY.
Team Chemistry is important, and when I get the ball at the elbow to create my own shot, your bigs seem more willing to make cuts to the basket, even the benchwarmers. I love my team:
Carmelo: Ball-hogs a bit too much, but getting the right plays for him and he's shooting 48% on 23.2 PPG. He is a great rebounder (8 RPG) for his position, too. His chemistry with Stoudemire is so great on their backdoor cuts.
Amar'e: Plays unselfish, and can play a lick of defense; averaging 20-10. Typical Amar'e.
Ilgauskas: THe example of play unselfish gets a player like him at this point in his career to still average 10/7. With your team chemistry, he loves to cut to the basket.Canucks | Packers | Blue Jays | Lakers | Raptors

Re: My Player teams are terrible
without question it seems imbalanced at times. but i feel as if you can create momentum then you can effect the teams game. 2k wants you to share the ball work the ball around etc etc. and it will reward you for your efforts. i promise you if your haveing a bad game dish out some assits and take high percentage shots and the game opens up for you. also paul peice is right i have a roster on XBL under my user name ironwork. try it its very competitive and enjoyable imo. its basiclly the ostrifecta roster with some jerseys ive added and shoes. but i understand what you mean.
i stopped running plays because my team cant set screens or anything everyone clogs up the paint whenever i try to drive they waltz over by me every single time. but i agree when you play smart you have a good chance at winningHand Down,Man DownComment

Re: My Player teams are terrible
I'm a Slashing SG at 6'2 and I got drafted by the Knicks. Unfortunately, Linsanity didn't really have any type of impact during my 1st year and was traded away I believe by the end of the season. I became a starter about 2 months into the season and we eventually got knocked out by the Heat. Currently in my 2nd year in the 2nd round of the playoffs against the Bulls. During the Reg. season, I avg. 23 ppg, 6 apg, 5 rbg, and 46% FG pct.
I would say that My Player is a lot better this year than it was in 2k11, but there are a few things that annoy me such as the constant bumping into players and ridiculous automatic dunks and shots from players who don't even fit the criteria. What I've also noticed is that my player experiences "lag" too many times. I don't know if it's the game or if it's my controller on ps3 or what. For example, when the pg brings the ball up the court on offense, my player often stutter stops while staring at the pg too many times, which ends up slowing my player from getting into position for the set play. Another thing associated with this is my player responds very slow at times just to turn around and go in the opposite direction of where he's going. I often thought that the problem was Off or Def Awr, Speed, Quickness, or something like that but my Awr ratings are at 90, Speed is at 84, Quickness in the high 80s so I don't know what the problem is.
Sometimes my player lacks the fluidity of just moving around the court. On players like Bos Zip, Knicks Over 12, Phi Deuce, Dal Baseline Dbl - all plays coming off 1 or 2 picks, I have to hold down the turbo button to get around the picks; otherwise, the player defending me can easily catch up to me. I also can't stand the amount shots I have taken in the paint (even dunks) that have been blocked so easily or how a lot of my passes are easily deflected and considered "bad passes" when in truth the cpu can have that "psychic DB" effect that Madden and NCAA were plagued with. Anybody else have problems with this?Comment

I can't tell you how many times I've tried to start a break only to have the passed deflected by a man who didn't even have his head turned. It's an annoyance for sure.
My biggest problem now is watching the CPU get into the paint at will by doing either a spin layup, or just an old fashioned go to the hoop. They either get ALL my teammates into the air with the pump fake and then proceed to make it, or they get fouled. Conley of the Grizzlies made the first 9 points of the game for them doing this. He'd just dribble to the right or left block, get there without any resistance from Chris Paul and go into the animation. It's beyond frustrating to watch. And know you can't do anything about it.Comment

Re: My Player teams are terrible
Have you guys tried running actual plays for your best player and just getting the hell out the way? Often enough if they just hold the ball after the play is over that means they want an iso. Call the iso for them in that situation if they don't immediately make a move or shoot.
This works. If it's not your best player, then give it to your best playmaker on the team. You can usually see this by looking at the dribble ratings (Good and Great only) of your teammates. If I knew how to make and put videos on youtube I would gladly demonstrate.Comment
