I'm not sure he's saying the fans deserve a big "thank you". I think he was just referring to 2K's statement of how this pre-order special was their way of saying thank you to the fans. And admittedly, it's a funny thank you to offer a feature to only one set of fans (those who pre-order):
“The NBA All-Star package is our way saying ‘thank you’ to fans for their ongoing love of the NBA 2K series,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. “This content provides a ton of depth and value to our fans, and it’s just the beginning of a lot of big news about NBA® 2K13.”

It's nice to see that 2K is bringing this back, the bad part is that they make it available to pre-order customers. Kinda' says a lot about the confidence in your own product when you can't put something that is in the game in real ife into your video game and make it available to everyone. It suggests to me that the sales aren't there to keep 2K afloat for much longer and now they are desperate for any gimmick. Two things come to my mind immediately. What will 2K take out next (and then provide as something "new" in a year or two), and more importantly, how much longer is 2K going to be around? Judging their the decisions they've made with their other products, in addition to 2K, most likely gone within 2-3 years.

This has become a fairly standard practice nowadays. It's incentive for getting people to preorder. But you feel they should be giving some sort of "thank you for purchasing the game" to fans? I don't play those other games so that is why this bothers me so much. I really don't give a damn what they do because I don't play them. That would be like you telling me that my favorite cereal box shrunk their box years after every other cereal box on the market being shrunk as well. So because it happened to the other cereals I should just shutup and take it since everyone else did it? I think not.

I am pissed off and telling me who else has pre-order perks doesn't change my stance.

I've been playing NBA2K on the PC ever since 2K9, and I don't see myself moving away from the PC modding community anytime soon. So if 2K forgot about their loyal PC fanbase, and didn't include the All Star weekend add on for the PC version that is extremely upsetting to me. Hopefully it is in the PC version, and just not included in the press release. Though I highly doubt that is the case....
they seem to focus on their biggest fan bases when it comes to DLC. consoles

i cant agree seeing has how 2k12 has alot less modes/options than 2k11. THey are just bringing old modes back as preorder bonus.

In short, I get the soldier's gripe and hopefully there will be an answer. But the rest of the whiners? Really? Do you REALLY have a problem with this or are you just complaining just to say something? This is all just so ridiculous.

Why is this a preorder bonus. lmao the allstar weekend is PART of the NBA experience. How can you call 2k the best NBA sim when this type of thing is treated as DLC? 2k is making Live become more of an option now than before. smh

This is the part I take exception to.
Don't insult my intelligence by telling me this is a "thank you".
If it were a thank you everyone would get it whenever and wherever they purchased it from.

As a former "mom and pop" video game store owner stuff like this baffles me. No wonder these stores are all disappearing.

Remember they took that out last year to make room for Online association so if they adding this then it don't seem like it. They did say this was an addon so it might be in if this mode don't take up space. But if it not in the game then remember Online associations is the reason why it not in

Crew Mode will be DLC/Pre-Order Bonus next year.

And the year after that 24/7 Mode will return

So, can someone answer this to me... 2K has decided to NOT to include all-star weekend to PC version? But yet, they had blacktop in 2K11, they had My Player ever since they announced it, they have association, even the 'legend teaches you the basics of the game' thing I never used.. I don't see how the fcuk THIS CAN'T BE IN?? Fcuk logic.

Respectfully, I'm not entirely sure where you are receiving your information, but it seems as if you're taking the opinion of someone you know and passing it along as fact - both in the case regarding the absence of Crew as well as the All-Star Weekend rights.

Director of Development at Visual Concepts, Jeff Thomas:
The decision to change online codebases [from Dreamcast-era setups] affected everything about the game's online offerings. As this would be a first run, Thomas directed the team to remove complex features that, although manageable in the old creaky architecture, couldn't be integrated with the new code in time for the game's shipping date—which, of course, is set by the NBA.

That meant "My Crew" got the axe. This year.

"We love My Crew," Thomas said. "But it's one of the more complicated features to put online. If we wanted to have a game this year, we needed to keep the feature set tight and small. When you get involved with Crews, there's a whole thing with data exchanging that gets involved."

My Crew was the online experience in NBA 2K11 where gamers took their created player from the "My Player" career mode, formed up teams and, in an environment supporting 10-player multiplayer, ran some ball. It was like having a regular rec league game, except online (and with guys who had mad skills).

Though Thomas cannot promise anything, he also sincerely did not rule out My Crew's return in future editions, attributing its absence in NBA 2K12 solely to the new codebase.
