Well that is cool I don't really play as them. Maybe they can capture the college feel of okc's crowd, they are one of loudest in the NBA.

Why does anyone care about Jay-Z's association with 2K/Visual Concepts? Besides his uber experience sitting courtside at games, what can he do to help make NBA 2K13 play better than NBA 2K12? Please don't tell me he'll make the game sound a little better because it's not a big deal and it could be done without him.

If anything, I'd like to hear more news about NBA personnel and NBA legends Visual Concepts are bringing in for references.

Until we see what influence Jay Z has I won't be commenting on it. If it does translate to better stadium sounds then I'm all for it. Live did a couple things right and one of them was the crowd noise, organ music, etc.

Hopefully 2K starts releasing more information on gameplay and game modes soon!

What makes anyone on this forum more qualified to give input on the game than Jay-Z?

It sounds like he's been a fan of the series for years.

Plus, he's not only an active part of the NBA environment and experience, but he's a brilliant artist and businessman who's spent years making wildly successful design and creative decisions.

And not only that, but he's not someone who's been on the NBA 2K team before, so he can come in and offer a fresh perspective.

The crowd needs to do more than just get amped at the right moment, they need to actually shut the hell up too. Every game it's a constant cheer. With only marginal spiking of volume when something big happens. I want the crowd to have that lull in anticipation when a big 3 is shot and go "AW!" if it clangs off the rim.

I want to see it go crazy when I hit a huge and 1 shot when down by 3. Show intelligence to know we're mounting a comeback or just stymied the other team's comeback. And most of all...I want the arena to get quite when their team is getting blown the hell out.

Also...I want the women in the audience to not look like Saints head coach Sean Payton. It's really eerie...

                I agree Eman,

I want to add the elite team/players have fans that travel to road games. A player like Kobe and the Lakers gets cheered at Mavs games. They have not captured that yet in 2k basketball. I am talking opposing teams jerseys in the crowd. Chicago fans travel to road games and the year before last were almost as loud as the hawks fans in the playoffs. Knicks fans travel and are represented on the road especially at MIA, philly, Boston. Miami despite having a great team their fans are not that loud.

Re: CNN Article: Giant Leap Forward

I was thoroughly upset when I first heard the announcement
because Jay-Z is a pop artist these days. He's not Jay-Z of 2000-2003.
Any input he gives as far as sound and presentation will reflect
what he thinks is cool, which is pretty awful these days. I can't
even recall the last culture defining thing he did because Watch
The Throne isn't it. The guys at 2k usually do a great job with the
soundtrack and manage to get what's really going on with people
at that moment. This just smells of being long term Jay fans and
marketing guys taking over. If they wanted to be true to their
brand, Rick Ross or Wayne made more sense (not a fan of either).

But really just poll players on what they wear and talk to the
community guys here who your core has elevated and you can't
go wrong. But I work in corporate America so I'm used to the guys
who feel like they know more than the clients and customer base
combined and we end up wasting money and damage the brand.

Yeah the crowd needs fixing. It's one of the reasons I turn my volume down and just play my own music. I think they need to properly capture the atmosphere.

It's more than just cheering when the home team is up, what about when they are making a comeback? The crowd cheers "defense, defense." When it's a game wining shot, the crowd should be quiet, then react to whether the shot went in or not. Or crowds boo-ing star players when they get the ball(idk if they can do that or not) or boo-ing a call the ref made. Where are the beat LA chants or hey hey goodbye chants when you eliminate a playoff rival? Also barely any music is played during the game, expect for timeouts. The PA is really none exciting.

I've been to a couple of NBA games and the crowd isn't properly represented in 2k. It just sounds like noise, hopefully 2k13 can perfect this.

While he is successful the rest is only opinion. I couldn't care less for his garbage music or clothes.

Great thoughts on the crowd Eman. I've been to a few Blazer games in my lifetime(never a playoff game though) and I have to say being at most of those games the sound of the crowd is equivalent to the crowd at a tennis match in some aspects. The stadium is relatively quiet and intent on watching the action unfold and all you can hear are the squeaking of shoes and players talking on the court along with whatever background music is playing. The fans are not standing, shouting, and flailing their arms repeatedly for the majority of the game. Only when something of significance happens like a steal, dunk, 3, foul, chanting for defense at critical points, etc does the crowd make themselves known in my experience at a live game.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

I would assume Jay Z has some of the best audio engineers in the world that work with him on his music and could help 2Ks engineers even if only in an adviosary role.

That is what I think he can provide. He can have his engineers help improve the crowds.

As a producer I have heard about what JayZ does with his Music Quality that is very nuanced that Most people wont easily recognize with a naked ear unless you have been in a studio to see how much is mixed I believe that the sound quality should be absolutely top Notch this year.
