You should join an online league with Sim people. Quick ranked game is just trash, I only play it once a month when I'am too drunk to do anything else.

Re: Why do so many people cheese?!

Because a) there will always be cheese because people cheese in real life (e.g. flopping), and b) this is like asking if i drop a $20 bill on the sidewalk, why would someone take it? Because they can.....

With that said, 2K needs to put bigger focus on balancing PvP gameplay, because EVERY YEAR there's always at least one special move that obviously defies the laws of reality... 2k11 was probably the best at minimizing this, but it still had glaring issues.

I would have liked to send them a message mentioning how much I enjoyed the game.
Thats another big problem online.. Online is just a complete failure.. Hope it gets better for 2k13..

I think it's more like two people squaring up to fight, and right when they start one guy kicks the other in his junk and tries to poke his eyes out.

dont forget the post drive lol. People will iso with their best dunker and post drive over and over. 2k really needs to work spend more time on defensive counters and work on the collision detection. EVERY MOVE needs to have a defensive counter that completely disrupts the animation.

also 2k needs to fix the spin dunk or just take it cause they dont know how to simulate it right.

Just avoid any players who pick the Heat or Thunder, which is sadly majority of time and probability of cheesing is very high since you can easily dominate with players on those teams. I usually like to play against the Lakers since it's easier to stop Kobe.

Re: Why do so many people cheese?!

I like playing cheesers. I can usually tell who's a cheeser after they score by whether or not they try to steal the in bounds pass and try to take a charge in the backcourt at the same time. Once that happens I proceed to stop playing on ball D and simply user one of my big men (Usually Jason Thompson since I play with the Kings). I contest shots if they try and drive into the paint and usually guys just dribble around the perimeter hoping you mess up (the computer never does mess up since they got mirror defense ) then take a 3 if they see the slightest bit of space.

Because I user Jason Thompson though I ensure they never get an offensive rebound. EVER. Why? Because Jason Thompson is 7 foot and has a 60 inch vertical. You are not outrebounding him, especially since I always box out. I also have a computer Demarcus Cousins who is just about 7 foot himself (6'11). If they try and put back dunk they get an over the back call 80% of the time. The other 20% I simply rebound the ball before it morphs to thier hand.

                My Lineup is usually:

                PG: Tyreke Evans (6'6)
                SG: Marcus Thornton (6'4)
SF: Fracisco Garcia (6'8) or Terrence Williams (6'6)
                PF: Jason Thompson (7'0)
                C: Demarcus Cousins (6'11)

You're not out rebounding me, especially since both Tyreke and Thornton are excellent rebounding guards themselves (thanks in part to thier vertical) if they have to attack the defensive boards.

I don't run plays. Why? Because trying to set up a play with someone continually tapping X trying to get a steal isn't the best idea. Instead I turbo past him and whoever happens to step up I pass to thier man or simply attack the basket with Tyreke Evans (who is a tremendous finisher).

Do I play entirely sim against a cheeser? Not if they piss me off by catching me with a charge in the backcourt (they NEVER get an inbounds steal. I simply pass it to my shooting guard. Yet, they still try this the entire game, KNOWING it's going to be a 5 on 4 for the rest of the game (I'm not waiting on the defender. **** that). For those that piss me off sufficiently I try and end the game in the first quarter by playing an absolutely blitzkrieg style usually scoring with 7-8 seconds. They go down the court, jack up a 3, I get the rebound and get out in transition and score again. This usually continues for the rest of the quarter.

My first quarter typically looks like 20-8. By the second quarter I'm blowing them out by 20+ points and then they proceed to quit.

On the off chance I actually get matched up with a sim gamer I run some actual offense and play on ball-d. Why do I play on-ball D against a sim user and not a cheeser? Because a sim guy isn't going to constantly shoot 3's and constantly use Left Stick crossovers trying to find space to hoist said 3.

How do you spot spin dunk and people who get close with kareem or shaq and do a ton of pump fakes? Those 2 are the ones that give me the most problems. Or like someone said post up with lebron or jordan and spin off everytime till he gets clean release

Yeah I hate quick matches, we can adjust the settings, your at the mercy of the random selection of who your playing instead of having a lobby and being able to see some info, stats, etc about the player before playing them. I'm really hoping lobbies is going to be in 2K13. The players that spam the steal button and buzz around holding turbo all game is just annoying, I mean you can't even call plays cause the guy is swinging at the ball the entire time with no fouls being called. We need lobbies, the ability to give players a rating after we play them, and the abilities to pick the type of game settings before entering a match -Allstar, Superstar, fouls, rules adjusted, etc in 2K13.

People cheat because they can and there are no repercussions. Until that issue is taking care of then its always gonna be a velvetta fest in Vermont.

Once you see someone abusing the post up cheese it's best to double team the guy with one of your big men (Center or Power Forward). Preferably a big man that's guarding someone who can't shoot from mid range. Or, you could also user one of your big man and get into position to contest the shot after they use the spin or post drive cheese.

Sometimes it's going to work, but the majority of the time you're going to stop them. As long as your offense is fine you should win pretty handily.

one of the worst cheese is the spin move up and under and the hopstep layup.

there is never any collision when they spin or hopstep wildly in the paint no matter how many people you pack the paint with. If you dont switch to a cpu big man fast enough it will be an easy score or a foul EVERYTIME.

I remember 1 time a guy shot 18 freethrows at halftime doing that crap. I didnt know what to do.

Normally what I do is I bring help with one of my big men, like you said, and then hold the right stick to put his hands up. Once they begin their layup animation, it'll turn into one of those awkward contact layups and they miss it the majority of the time.

If I can't get help there fast enough, I switch to the on ball defender and do the same thing. You have to stay disciplined when they pump fake and just hold the right stick up. Sometimes the shooter will start to make your defender slide off of him, and that's when you have to back up a little bit so that your arms get in the way of shooters arm and it'll do the awkward contact layup animation.
