Why would they? They should just take out the Dribbling abilities because those are one of those things that should be kept strictly to a rating. And there was never a way to upgrade the abilities in association without "cheating". And in My player mode, upgrading dribbling skills were too expensive and a hassle.

i dont think this traits will effect tendencies as much as effectiveness

and i think they will allow certain players to showcase specific animations. For example the article mentioned lebrons chase down blocks well we know lebron has a chase down animation different from everyone else. it won't cause him to do this 'more' but be more effective when he does.

In essence i think this will be a guide of sorts on how to utilize key players and get the most out of gameplay and animations not so much of a rating or skill booster.

It should be a rating. Im hoping Lockdown Defender can counter great dribblers because last year it didnt matter how good the defender was, the ball carrier would win 7/10 times.

It was a hassle in MP. I understand it not being easy to obtain great abilities. But, it shouldve been tied into ratings. So, if you have good Off-Hand Dribble and Ball Security, it should be able to unlock higher abilites. Like if you max Shot Low Post, it should automatically go to great. It didnt matter how high it was, if your post abilities were poor, you would miss those shots.

You didn't like how it added more playing time to your my player ? I actually liked having to max my "Shot Mid Range " Then my "Shot abilities " actually made me work towards something else.

Yeah, It will most like just improve the rate of success pulling off a skill.

I dont think it will be like something where a player's steal or 3pt boosts to 99 when they shoot corner 3's or attempt on-ball steals

I actually didn't mind about the shot abilities. It was realistic. Some people don't have a pull up game, and some people don't have a post game. It is what it is. But to upgrade each dribble move at a time? Dumb. In real life, my dribbling skills didn't change whether I did a crossover or a spin move. But I don't really have a step-back, but pretty good in my pullup and spin shot and things so at least that aspect was realistic.

It didnt really add more playing time for me. Some of the Issues like Draft Glitch, Teammate A.I. and gameplay issues(like the ones that have been fixed), cause me to barely play MP like I use to. I only really worked on abilities once I got a career milestone that had alot of XP.

The gameplay issues were a big reason I stopped playing since we could edit sliders.

Supa Hot Fia: When a player like Melo, lebron, Joe Johnson, and kobe Get hot, they're shooting ratings get Maxed, and have 30 feet of range.

Just look at the beginning of this clip, Lebron goes off.

I mean cornerman can be replicated with hot spots, dead eye can be replicated with shoot in traffic, lockdown is already covered by on ball d, and many of these suggestions like speed already have ratings for them. I hope the traits don't dumb down the game by taking away precise ratings and actually make sense as an on/off toggle.

Frankly, this new addition has me a little worried. It might make the distinction between players less nuanced and less realistic.
I agree 100%. I am also worried about how these signature skills will be implemented. I just don't really understand. For like the "Chase Down Blocker", that particular skill is all about timing and I would much rather have the user have to time something like that. Hopefully, because someone have that signature skill, some unrealistic type stuff doesn't happens. I am with you and anxious to see how this turns out.

I'll edit my previous post, I change it and call it Long Range and say that it just adds 5 extra feet behind the line to their range without it being diminished.

The one I thought of a few posts above would be OP.

I'am kinda worried about thoses signatures skills too tbh. Like the one for rebounding for the likes of Love or Rodman. Are we gonna see scripted rebounds where other guys just won't be able to grab the ball to let the guy with the skill takes it? Or is the guy just gonna stand out by his better positionning awareness to get more rebounds?

                                Forgot about this one:

Palm the Ball: A player who has the ability to protect the ball, dunk, ball fake and perform other actions like rebounding by palming the ball.
