Im confused, how is scottie pippen in the past two games on the bulls but now all of a sudden he cant be a part of the dream team? That doesnt make any sense to me...

He was on that team you know, just not included on the roster due to contract negotiations falling through. I don't think (at least I hope not) existing legend teams will be deleted, only more added. Just thinking he stipulated he would only allow his likeness to be on the 92 DT. But, I could be wrong.

Nobody really knows at this point whether we will have legend teams this year..I hope so, given that it was the legends that brought me back to begin with. We do know there will be legend players because prior to the Dream Team announcement it's mentioned in the all star weekend mode as well. But that doesn't necessarily = legend TEAMS. I agree with others that the legend teams were a success and there will be a meltdown if they drop them. I just hope the focus on retro NBA wasn't 2k compensating for NBA lockout issues.

This is a cool addition to me and it's good to see Barkley finally make an appearance in a next gen game. Sorry for the loss of Pippen but once 2k started in with these legends I knew it would be hard for them to keep up with the demands of the fanbase when it comes to specific player or team inclusions. Knowing that 2k has to individually bargain with every former player in order to make these teams a reality, that can prove to be a tough task. Not every former player is sitting on a mountain of cash lighting Cuban cigars with burning $100 bills like MJ could. Also not every former player is a gamer and values the importance of being included for authenticity's sake just for the fans. For some it's about getting the most money they can especially when they see an opportunity for some leverage(Pippen testing how much 2k is willing to pay for a complete DT roster).

Ultimately this is a business and knowing the unpredictable financial nature of trying to put these legend teams together I think people should be happy that they have had them for the last 2 years because I can't see 2k doing this for the long haul.

I think sales would drop significantly if 2K shed the legend teams. It would be like getting fed a prime rib or Tbone steak diet, then having it taken away and replaced with instant breakfast. No, I truly believe the legend teams will be back in full force, all though it concerns me that they haven't announced any legend teams being back or any additional legend teams. Maybe in future updates??? I know that's a deal breaker for me personally. I'd still rent 2k13 just to experience the upgraded game play, but I certainly wouldn't buy it.

What's the point of this...unless Barkley is yelling out "that's turrible" every time Croatia misses a shot, how am I supposed to defend without NBA CHAMPION Scottie Pippen.

@theprocess...hilarious and very relevant point. It's one thing if they weren't including Laettner. But this no Pippen stuff won't fly with the fans on any level. He was an instrumental part of that team. Guess we'll see.

While this may be great for some, I for one didnt use the legend teams at all in last years version except when a buddy came over and we just played quick games. This is a cool feature but Im still waiting on some more gameplay or mode features. Cant wait for the shoe insight to come out! (sarcasm)

My brother has worked in the media licensing business for the last 11 years, and here's how he told me this stuff USUALLY goes down:

The Bulls and the Olympic team rights are separate since the Bulls are a part of the NBA and the Olympic team(s) are organized and ran by the United States Olympic committee. The players are from the NBA but outside of that it has nothing to do with the NBA and/or its player association rules and regulations therefore making it a separate entity and the deals for such a team would be a completely different negotiation since the team itself is not connected to the NBA.

Therefore Pippen could sign off on an agreement to be on the NBA related content such as the Bulls classic teams yet he also has the right to say no to any other uses of his likeness on any non NBA related content. It appears that it's possible all the other players signed off for a particular price which included both NBA and Olympic related content, while Scottie may have wanted a separate side deal for him to be included on the '92 Dream Team.

I don't know if this is exactly what happened, but I do know that my brother told me this is how this stuff works when trying to negotiate deals with clients for use of their work and likeness on the same project that includes more than one companies/organizations being represented on the same project. In the licensing world its called "double dipping".
