KG 99 Emotion -
Everybody but Dwight Howard.. He's also a lot smaller than Howard and not even a Center and wayyyy less athletic.. Yet he only averaged 1 rebound less than Howard.. Pretty impressive to me.. If rebounding were a skill point I'd say Love is the best rebounder in the NBA as far as rebound skill wise.. Dwight obviously would get half his rebounds on athletics and size alone.. If he had the rebound skill Love had I could see him averaging 2-4 more per game than he already doesComment

Re: Players you predict/should have a 99 in their attributes
The Problem with 2k12 has been the difference Between Sim Stats and Actual Gameplay Stats. You CANT have them BOTH Great this year WITHOUT Tweaking the Sliders. But if you give too many people High Inside, Close, etc. Shots then Everyone ends up shooting about the same in Actual Games. I am NOT a Big Sim Stat guy, am more about Gameplay, But HOPEFULLY 2k recognized their issues with the SIM Engine and made the proper adjustments.Unless they changed the sim-engine, these are what 99's translate to:
Inside Shot 99 - 60% (hoopdata.com) - Nearly the entire league should have a 99. I REALLY hope they change this scale this year.
Close Shot 99 - 55% (hoopdata.com).
Mid-Range Shot 99 - 55% (hoopdata.com).
3PT Shot 99 - 50% (hoopdata.com).
FT 99 - 99% (hoopdata.com).
Pass 99 - 50% Assist Percentage (Basketball-reference.com, under Advanced Stats)
Block 99 - 6% Block Percentage (Basketball-reference.com)
Steal 99 - 5% Steal Percentage (Basketball-reference.com)
Offensive Rebound 99 - 14% Offensive Rebound Percentage (Basketball-reference.com)
Defensive Rebound 99 - 30% Defensive Rebound Percentage (Basketball-reference.com)
Going by last year's stats alone (I go by a 3 year average in my rosters), the following players would get 99's in objective statistical categories. If no one deserved a 99, the highest rated player is listed:
Close Shot - None (Hibbert - 92)
Mid Range - None (Dirk - 94)
3PT - None (Novak - 96)
Passing - Steve Nash, Rajon Rondo
Steal - None (Chris Paul - 84)
Block - Serge Ibaka, Javale McGee, DeAndre Jordan, Ekpe Udoh, Bismack Biyombo)
Offensive Rebounding - Nikola Pekovic, Tristan Thompson, Demarcus Cousins, Joakim Noah
Defensive Rebounding - Dwight Howard, Marcus CambyNBA 2k18 Roster:

Re: Players you predict/should have a 99 in their attributes
Which is why this site and NLSC have as many roster makers as they do. 2k has done a lousy job for the past several years (since at least 2k9) on the ratings/tendencies/hot spots/hot zones/capabilities out of the box. When the roster is properly tuned according to the sim-engine and sliders are turned to the individual's playing ability, it literally becomes a different game.
People like youALDREADYknow, Vanwolfhalk and myself have a pretty good handle on the roster/playbook side. If you have used Paul Pierce's roster from this year, you know what I'm talking about. He used my roster ratings and tendencies as a base for his project. Spacing, ball movement, eliminating the "shot clock cheese", suction/bumping animations, big men acting like guards with the ball in their hands and accurate sim-stats were possible this year because of people like us who literally spent 100's of hours figuring out how attributes/tendencies worked and sharing our work with the community.
In regards to Bass and KD's mid-range shot, don't let that rating by itself get you stuck. As long as KD is significantly higher in Shoot in Traffic, Shoot off Dribble, Consistency and Offensive Awareness while being given proper tendencies, he'll be a much better mid-range player than Bass.Acts 2:38. Re: Players you predict/should have a 99 in their attributes
I slightly disagree with this, unless you are talking simply about the Inside, Close, Mid and 3PT ratings. It is necessary to find the right slider threshold to fit your playstyle, and to find the right shooting sliders, you also have to account for non-shooting sliders such as On Ball Defense, Defensive Awareness, Offensive Awareness and what difficulty you're on.The Problem with 2k12 has been the difference Between Sim Stats and Actual Gameplay Stats. You CANT have them BOTH Great this year WITHOUT Tweaking the Sliders. But if you give too many people High Inside, Close, etc. Shots then Everyone ends up shooting about the same in Actual Games. I am NOT a Big Sim Stat guy, am more about Gameplay, But HOPEFULLY 2k recognized their issues with the SIM Engine and made the proper adjustments.
However, to differentiate the shooting percentages in-game, it takes finding a rating scale that works with the subjective ratings, also. Consistency, Offensive Awareness, Shoot in Traffic, Shoot off Dribble and the shooting Capabilities have to be re-rated as well. The Capabilities were WAY off this year. There were way too many good/great ratings given out, especially in regards to the post game, that made certain players overpowered in certain areas. With REDitor, we were also able to edit the hidden attribute of Low Post Shot, which was a big help also.
In regards to shooting percentages/PPG, the sim-engine only accounts for Inside, Close, Mid-Range and 3PT ratings. We can tweak the other ratings I mentioned all day to figure out what works in-game. I know we've disagreed on this for a while, but it is definitely possible to have a very good in-game experience and sim stats at the same time.Last edited by slimm44; 08-31-2012, 06:33 AM.Acts 2:38. Re: Players you predict/should have a 99 in their attributes
I feel everything about shoot in traffic etc etc
but when its all said and done, IMO, if KD's wide open with no one around, not one defender, his raw shooting rating should be rated higher than bass. Unless you think that durant isn't as good of a midrange shooter as bass..then you need to watch more thunder games. If he's open and its a spot up shot 15-feet out, its going in almost everytimeComment

The thing is, the scenario that you mentioned rarely, if ever, occurs on the court in 2k. You're talking about a hypothetical situation that fits the situation of both players shooting jumpers for practice in a gym.I feel everything about shoot in traffic etc etc

Re: Players you predict/should have a 99 in their attributes
Here's my problem with giving anyone (besides Scalabrine) a 99 attribute:
If there's legends in the game, the 99 attribute needs to be given to the best at that certain skill, ever. All current players should then be rated accordingly, because if you're giving someone a maxed-out skill you're saying they are the best at that skill. With legends in the game, being the best at that skill means you're better than anyone ever.
For example, John Stockton is/should be rated 99 in passing. Should Rondo be scored a 99 in passing as well? Is he the same caliber passer as Stockton was in his best year?
Just foozle for thouzzle.Comment

Re: Players you predict/should have a 99 in their attributes
How do you rate a player? No I mean seriously. How do you rate quickness of a player? Like what makes him quicker than the next guy. A lot of this stuff is eyeballing it. It's really hard. Especially when it comes to talking about All time greats vs current players. What makes a All time great better than a current player? Besides the rings and history and all the other stuff. When we only think about basketball and what's going on hardwood. I think people will see that players (Old vs New) are very similar to each other.
Just my 2 cents.
Also, I don't mind the 99 ratings.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories
