My Crew is something that our fans are very loud and clear about as far as what they want and bringing that mode back.
2k11 was not the best year for us online, although it was one of our best selling products our servers were not at all reliable with us at the time.
Last year we had a very stripped down version of online game modes and we had built the foundation up from scratch again. 2k13 is a continuation of that effort to make our online gameplay more stable.
Our first and foremost goal is to make online as smooth as possible, and I think we have really done that this year, but we are still building up.
We didn’t have time to add a crew mode this year, but its definitely something we will be looking at moving forward because the demand is certainly there.

This is a cause for optimism that 2K can have ranked lobbies, added features to OA that people have been asking for in 2K14 and future titles.

Crew was basically getting your MyPlayer and 4 other MyPlayer friends to form a crew, then play against other crews. This year, it seems they have 3 on 3 blacktop online.

He might be talking about blacktop mode. It's sorta like a "quick match" with my players on an outdoor court. It doesn't have the infrastructure of creating a crew of guys on your team you want to play with, team stats, etc. It also suffers from the same flaws as quick team up in that half the guys drop within the first half the game.

3 on 3 blacktop with your friends. So a little bit different. I hope you can also get some random games.

CREW MODE is like Retro Air Jordans. & Pick Up Games are like a pair of Shaqs from Walmart.

Horrible comparison. While Shaqs were cheap and somewhat unpopular they were highly reliable, comfortable and offered more functionality than Jordans did. Jordans were about status and style. No one ever took a pair of fresh Js to the court to play in because they were to afraid to get them stepped on, dirty, or creased much like AF 1s. Crew and pick up are two different but similar modes, kinda like ms translator and google translate.

I'm trying to ask him if 3v3 is our limit because I REALLY want to do 5 on 5.

I'm curious to know, what basketball game or 2K game modes did these crew guys play before 2K introduce Crew mode?

I played teamup before crew and before that, 1/2 online quick match 1/2 association mode. Thing is, it's tough to go back to static modes like playing the predictable cpu in Association once you've experienced dynamic ones. Like going from a ps3 back to a ps2. Like going from Megan Fox to some avg looking chick. I want a game format that mirrors the real life basketball experience. The crew format was the closest to that. Teamup in 2k12 is fun but too often it's randoms who quit because they didn't get Kobe and have no loyalty to their teammates to complete the match. That's part of the appeal of crew. Your teammates don't quit because they're are apart of your crew and you grow as an individual my player and as a team -- just like real ball.
