Re: NBA 2K13 Demo Available Now For 360 and PS3, Post Impressions Here
still saw a lot of bad in this demo.
- your AI teammates dont boxout , allowing way to many offensive rebounds
- still a lot of instances where i absolutely CANNOT break down bigs withs guards or quicker players. i should almost always make them pay for the mismatch
- still some sliding, had an instance just now where i hit KD with a mean left to right crossover that dropped him, drove to the basket in a wide open lane only to have serge ibaka slide infront of me and force an unwanted jumpshot
-stepbacks out of contact are WAY to easy. hoping this is at least toned way down on HOF difficulty.
-on ball defense is still a little tough to play when guarding the cpu. KD gets by me way to easy and in turn locks me down like he has the lockdown signature skill. a lot easier to guard human players imo, which leads me to think cpu will once again dominate you. even players who are scrubs.
overall, this game is much improved over 2k12 and with the numerous new animations and control stick, fixed speed, and improved player faces, this can easily dethrone 2k11 in my opinion.Comment

also forgot to add that ld2k and i spoke last night on xbox and he told me, without even asking that a lot of the things in need of fixing in this demo are already done in the retail build like boxing out, players jumping to high, over the back rebounding to name a few. So with that said.. tuesday cant come soon enough!Comment

I'm pretty stoked on this game. I've been reading alot of comments and I agree with some of what's being said but i've got a few points to make.
New Controls - After 5 years of playing 2k it's a big change to switch to an iso stick; but we all knew this was coming and those that don't like it have the chance to change it or they just have to suck it up. Give it a week and i'm not too worried about it.
Graphics/Details - Remember it's a demo people. Does anyone remember the demo for 2K12? It looked like sh*t and the game looked way better. Case in point, did you see Kobe's shoes in the new developers video on Shoe Creator? Dope! Maybe it's just me but i don't care about how the crowd looks or that Westbrook has a mustache.
I can't believe that people would say that based on this demo they'r'e not buying the game. Are you kidding me?! After playing this demo i'm going to go and bury my copy of 2K12 in the backyard.
Online - I don't really play online but this is one thing i would be worried about if i did. If 2K had revamped their online and servers they would be trumpeting it from the mountaintops and we haven't heard anything. They might even be waiting for the game release before we hear anything, which would be pretty bad.
Crew - Don't get me started. Get over it Crew heads, it's gone... make your peace with it.
Lastly, let''s just remember that there's only a year between game releases and minus the rest of this year when they're doing patches and updates, that leaves roughly 7 months to put out a new game. Incremental changes people. Doesn't everyone complain when 2K puts out a halfbaked mode in the game? Compare 2k13 to 2K11 and that's a fair comparison.
Peace.Comment

Re: NBA 2K13 Demo Available Now For 360 and PS3, Post Impressions Here
Well after playing the demo a bit more today
Rebounding
Has
To
Be
Fixed
I can deal with minor BS, but this has to be fixed, my AI teammate collison LOOKs at the ball before wade a second or 2 later got in front of him to snatch the ball
I know it's not because of small ball from heat, because it doesnt matter which team im controlling thunder/heat, this nonsense where I or my opponent get 4-5 off rebs in a row happens way too often.
Rebounding is flawed plain and simple and boxing out is almost non existentComment

Gameplay's smooth and looks nice, and this is coming from a guy who doesn't normally play basketball games and still uses the X button on his 360 controller to shoot (nothing wrong with staying old-school, kiddies).
Again, I don't normally play basketball games...but I'm really considering checking out the retail version once it's out.Comment

Re: NBA 2K13 Demo Available Now For 360 and PS3, Post Impressions Here
i posted this in the controls thread, but i figured i'd copy it here, because it might help those who are struggling with the controls.
this is what made the control click for me - the right stick dribbling is really best when used only for "stand-still sizeups". the right stick should mostly be thought of as the "sizeup stick". once you are moving, it is best to stay away from the right stick, because the left stick dribble moves and right stick dribble moves will be fighting each other.
what i had to understand was that the player automatically does crossovers, stepbacks, spins with just the left stick...i was accustomed to using a modifier for those moves in previous 2k's...so seeing my player do them automatically without a modifier was really throwing me off. i was trying to do these moves with the right stick, but i really only needed the left stick to do them.
what was confusing me is that there is a bit of a redundancy going on - a lot of similar dribble moves can be performed with both the right stick or the left stick (spins, crossovers, stepbacks). what was messing me up is that i'd be driving and i'd want to do a crossover, so i'd use the right stick to do crossover, but my player would automatically do a crossover with the left stick, then he'd do another dribble move from my right stick input...so my player would do two animations when i only wanted one - the left stick crossover and right stick move were fighting each other. once i stopped using the right stick while moving, it all started to work. the only move i use the right stick for while moving is the behind-the-back, because there is no way to pull that off with just the left stick.Last edited by blues rocker; 09-28-2012, 02:16 PM.Comment

This years controls are easier than last years...took me about four games to get them down. No need to blow up, some pick it up quick, others take a little longer. I've actually seen most people say theyre picking them up only two days after the demo dropped. I dont really get the argument anyways when you can switch to last years controls.Comment

Re: NBA 2K13 Demo Available Now For 360 and PS3, Post Impressions Here
As soon as I played this demo, I packed up Madden 13 and sent it back to Amazon. I forgot how awesome NBA 2K is. Wish I could play it with the 2K cam. But other than that, it's awesome.
And the control stick is genius. The previous Isomotion controls were decent, but far too complex for my tastes. This seems much more intuitive. I also like how the players look bigger on the court this year; lets you see the detail in the player models a lot better. My score for Madden 13: 4.5/10
3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.Comment
