Not sure if this has been asked before but...

Did they just give Russell Westbrook the sig shot of Ben Gordon?

    C'mon, man.

Wide open jump shots are rewarded with the ball going in, a la NBA Live 10. Thank God.

The movement of the players also feels real nice. I didn't notice it during my year with 2k12, but in hindsight, 2k12 players were stuck in the mud sometimes.

They might even be waiting for the game release before we hear anything, which would be pretty bad.
If putting online in the demo isn't trumpeting online, what else is? And wouldn't it fall on deaf ears anyway?

Lastly, let''s just remember that there's only a year between game releases and minus the rest of this year when they're doing patches and updates, that leaves roughly 7 months to put out a new game. Incremental changes people. Doesn't everyone complain when 2K puts out a halfbaked mode in the game? Compare 2k13 to 2K11 and that's a fair comparison.

        Peace.
This is SO true. People think patches are free. They take time away from the next product.

Been playing a lot more now than the first day, and adjusting to the controls now. Game is so funner once you know how to control the dribbling! It was pretty frustrating the first day playing it because I kept using the old IsoMotion way and I'm loving how much better and easier it is to pull off moves with this control system. It's a good change! Online is much smoother than last year, didn't lag too much. But for some reason, I suck at shooting vs online, but I don't notice a lag? I'm releasing it at the same time I do it offline quick play, too.

Is it just me or is the COU assist defense terrible. I'm talking about 1 guy dribbling the ball down court against 3 or 3 defenders. It seems like if you take one defender and miss, the cpu doesn't come to help. Their not guarding anyone because no one else is down there to guard yet. They just kind of post up in the lane and let the guy go right around them. I didn't play 2k12, and don't remember this on 11. Has anyone else noticed this?

this is what made the control click for me - the right stick dribbling is really best when used only for "stand-still sizeups". the right stick should mostly be thought of as the "sizeup stick". once you are moving, it is best to stay away from the right stick, because the left stick dribble moves and right stick dribble moves will be fighting each other.

what i had to understand was that the player automatically does crossovers, stepbacks, spins with just the left stick...i was accustomed to using a modifier for those moves in previous 2k's...so seeing my player do them automatically without a modifier was really throwing me off. i was trying to do these moves with the right stick, but i really only needed to left stick to do them.

what was confusing me is that there is a bit of a redundancy going on - a lot of similar dribble moves can be performed with both the right stick or the left stick (spins, crossovers, stepbacks). what was messing me up is that i'd be driving and i'd want to do a crossover, so i'd use the right stick to do crossover, but my player would automatically do a crossover with the left stick, then he'd do another dribble move from my right stick input...so my player would do two animations when i only wanted one - the left stick crossover and right stick move were fighting each other. once i stopped using the right stick while moving, it all started to work. the only move i use the right stick for while moving is the behind-the-back, because there is no way to pull that off with just the left stick.
I made the same discovery by chance yesterday. I think it works best this way.

This is what I am doing as well.

Plus, more often than not, there seems to be an extra stutter when using the RS to do crossovers.

Like what you said, I only use the RS for behind-the-back dribble. And also playing around with the ball when doing the "slow creep".

Re: NBA 2K13 Demo Available Now For 360 and PS3, Post Impressions Here

There are some moves (spin moves, up 'n' under moves, etc) I've noticed inside the paint where the defender instead of staying in front of the ball handler and drawing contact with them will sometimes move or get pushed out of the way. There needs to be a little more contact and collisions inside the paint and more fouls being called I think. Also on collisions inside the paint there should be a little more vibration in the controller to make it feel more realistic.

The only area outside of contact and collisions inside the paint that I hope gets improved just a little bit more is Player Movement. It feels like there is still some sluggishness and sliding happening, where you don't feel as if your getting the traction or quick reaction time on the court like you should at times with the dribbler and defender. While the sluggishness and sliding is much better then it was in 2k12, I still think it should be improved just a little bit more if possible.

Not a big fan of all the gold overlays, pulsating bars (wish we had an option to disable this), or the mic that flashes on the screen on replays that Jay-Z introduced. But, really its minor. I'll eventually get used to it I guess and probably won't even care about it much if the gameplay is as good as it seems.

On-ball defense is so much better, it feels like playing good defense actually makes a difference again and you get rewarded for it. I just love the 1on1 contact and interaction the dribbler and on-ball defender have with each other on the perimeter this year, its a thing of beauty! I also like that they brought back the automatic hand up in the shooters face if your close enough and are holding LT.

Love that there are no more cheesy CPU pump fakes and up 'n' under moves constantly. Live ball physics feels like it was improved upon which is nice. Blocks actually feel and look good again. No more blocks with elbows, armpits, etc.

I'm glad to hear that in the final version that they toned down the offensive rebounds. There were far too many of them in 2k12 and in the 2k13 demo.

New controls are going to take awhile to get used to though since pretty much everythings changed. This much change I'll admit is hard at first to adjust to, but the more times I practice and learn what things actually do the easier it becomes and I begin to relize just how good this new control scheme works.

Overall the game just feels so much more polished then it did last year.

Why would they put in game character faces on the starting lineup before the game? They look horrible, and some of the faces have like white pixels all over them. They should have kept the real pictures of the players.

Who is the genius that decided it was a good idea and ok to take out the real pictures and add these crappy ones.

I can't play 2k12 anymore after playing the demo. It's so boring now. When I first saw the graphics on 2k13 I thought it wasn't that great, but after playing 2k12 again it's clear how much better and polished 2k13 looks. 12 looks like a cartoon with bland colors.

It's been that way since 2K11. I think actual portraits would have been nicer, but it would have clashed with CAPs, including those 2K release as roster updates.

Speaking of which, 2K needs a way for us to insert custom pictures for CAPs. Would be epic for MyPlayer/MyCareer.

I guess you are right about them clashing. The rookies when they were placed in after the lookout always bothered me. It would take awhile for their cyberfaces to show up on the menus and their player cards.

I always hoped they went the Tiger Woods game route and allow us to take a picture of our self and it would turn it into an in game character. Always thought 2k could go above and beyond what EA did and make it even better.

Same, considering EA had this sort of thing as early as 12 years ago. We used to make pretty convincing versions of ourselves in NHL 200x? at work and play at lunch. There are also many face generation systems like FaceGen that are much better than what 2K develops and redevelops in house that they could license.

Maybe the new Kinect with higher resolution will help with 3d face mapping in 2K14.
