i'm actually loving the automatic left stick crossovers, spins, and hesitations. it's nice to be able to do them without using a modifier button. they work so well that i find i don't even need the right stick a lot of the time.
It is strange that LS and RS overlap and even conflict. I thought LS would only control movement and RS would control all dribble moves.

I didn't really get the point of the RS at first since it didn't offer many new moves and took away sig size ups, but one thing it does is isolate dribbling input from whatever you were doing with the LS and help pull off some moves a bit more consistently. In 2k12, I often had difficulty doing behind the back moves if I was moving my player around and his orientation wasn't clear. 2K13 helps a little, but it's unfortunately offset by the fact that between the legs dribble is diagonal back and sometimes you trigger that instead.

One way to fix this and address the overlap of moves on LS and RS is to have spin on LS be spin move and half circle on RS be behind the back dribble. This eliminates the problem with accidentally triggering between the legs and even makes more sense conceptually-- you spin the LS to actually move your player in a spinning motion and move the RS in a around the back motion to dribble behind the back.

It also has the added benefit of resembling the control scheme 2K games have had for years. It also opens up the back mapping on RS though it might be a good idea to keep that open or allow moves only in certain contexts to prevent it from being accidentally triggered instead of the between the legs dribble.

      Re: NBA 2K13 Advanced Controls

just wanted to point out that i was wrong about the sprint trigger not working in the half court - it does actually make you dribble faster, but a lot of the time your player won't speed up until he gets closer to the hoop...so there is still a bit of an "automatic" feeling to the sprinting. the delayed reaction was making it seem like the trigger wasn't doing anything...but once you get used to the slight delay, it seems fine.

        SMH.

Its def not an improvement in terms of CONTROL.
I thought this was what 2k was all about. Control....
Then they take out certain things that allowed us control over little things like bankshots.
2k always takes leaps ahead but a couple hops back...
        Thats expected but sheesh guys....

I dont want to shoot an automatic bankshot with a player depending on tendency unless im playing the computer.
Doesnt make sense as a USER controllered player.

Why take that out? That should only be for the CPU....
        Thats 2k for you lol....

          I agree with illosophy.

I'm all for users having control over the type of shots we shoot, but he does make a point with the sig style statement.

You have to hit turbo to launch out of your size-ups. After that I let the trigger go unless I'm open for a dunk.

it does actually help to keep holding turbo sometimes...it will make your player sprint longer in some cases.

That's true. actually holding the turbo while sizing up works better, than sizing up then holding turbo.

I wish 2k sports put the dunking controls back in like what they did in 2k11. For example right stick to the left for flashy dunks, right stick to the right for power dunks, right stick to the front for normal dunks, and right stick to the back for reverse dunks. It brought more options to deicide which dunks to perform and provided more animations. I hate it when CPU decides which dunks to perform for my player. Just patch it in the game plzz. I want TOTAL DUNKING CONTROL lol.

                    Its good point.
But it doesnt mean it should be ok...

What if instead of bankshots being automatic
it was blocks or steals?...or spin dunks hopsteps & eurosteps??...just because a player does it frequently....?
there's a command on the controller for eurosteps...
everybody doesnt euro step...or throw oops off the glass...
or spin dunk or block shots...u get my point....
but we have the same commands for every player

there was modifier for shooting off the glass
i wish it would have stayed that way...
just a personal gripe with 2k...they always take out stuff for no reason
(maybe mechanics reason idk...but it wasnt an issue 2 change)
ie changing the dpad on 2k12 lol...just saying

Or those automatic toss ups at the end of the shot clock
(EX you're going for an achievement or personal goal of a perfect game and they shoot one of those shots...lol...it shall be painful)

not even a big deal..its just they preach control
but make certain things automatic which end up being pull in/double animations(lunge steal where nobody can bump into you & dunk ons)...which isnt control...its game logic & script...which has always been 2K..

They still have that, it's camera relative.

                        Re: NBA 2K13 Advanced Controls

I think the trigger shooting is something that has been planned for a while now.
Thinking back to 2k11 & 2k12 and the "Flick Flick" controls
With the Flick Flick you could hold the trigger down to modify shots
                        Example. In 2k11 or 2k12
During a drive anywhere on the floor hit the left trigger and pump fake(move the shot stick quickly in any direction) then move it another direction while letting the trigger go and you would shoot.

I cant be the only player that used those controls faithfully.
Sounds like this new shot stick with the trigger is the full version of that.
Cant wait to try it out.
After a while I'd only take layups and paint shots like that because the animations looked more realistic using the flick flick controls.
Im hoping the new shot stick is what Im thinking it is...

Anyone know if we can change the control stick to absolute instead of camera relative? I like playing on broadcast but it's harder to pull off moves accurately I find.
