Not really a problem for me, because it doesn't mean you have to sign into the 2k servers, just means I have to sign in with psn which I always do.

Still trying to figure out whether it is a midnight release or when the store updates. Apparently there is a midnight release list for these day 1 releases but the list has been released yet, so I hope it is a midnight release

And does anyone know how long a game of this size takes to download?
I read these terms right before making the purchase so i backed out.
Scenario 1: You're in the 4th Quarter of "My Player" with 60 points suddenly your isp, PSN, has a error, the game is over. Too many times playing 2k11 and 12 I get randomly signed out because of some unknown error during game play.

Scenario 2: PSN network is down, you can't play

Scenario 3: Your ISP connection is having connection issues such as random disconnections, you can't finish a game.

If we could take the Digital game offline and not have to sign in, I would to download it. I just don't have faith with having to be constantly online without one tiny error ruining a great long game.

In Scenario 1, it wouldn't matter if you signed on when you started the game.

So yeah, you have to sign in on PSN every time you play the game. And only that one specific account for each console, so if you have brothers who have other PSN accounts, they can't use their own accounts for NBA 2k13. You have to share the game in that one account. This is horrible DRM for this game, I don't really see any reason why someone would purchase this through PSN.
Thank you this is what I said already "Every major retailer gives Allstar DLC expect for PSN as it looks right now, which is horrible. Also read the fine print it only allows one account So 2kstore or bestbuy it is." This is the reason not to purchase the game not because you should support retailers this supports developers directly, if psn is down you wouldnt be able to play any disc game online if you haven't logged in the past 3 days or so. Also like someone said this is likely not Sony's doing (tho they my not mind) and more likely deals with 2k's integration of purchasing VC points for myteam and other modes which is another problem onto it self. And No there hasn't been confirmation of midnight download Sony is not consistent with this effort. I believe Fifa/Madden had the option to preload.

Just got an email saying this...

            Hello Jack,

Thank you for contacting PlayStation Technical Support. My name is Jon and I would be more than happy to help you with this question that you have today.

In similar situations in the past, the preordered content wasn't available until the PlayStationStore updated. Therefore, you should expect that the release of NBA 2K13 will not be available for download until the update is done, and not at midnight.

Thank you so much for your time and attention in this matter, Jack. We really do appreciate your support of PlayStation.

            Your PlayStation representative,
            Jon B.
