Re: Y the nick name calling
I am on ps3 also. My players name is Damon Warner. I selected the 1st 2 letters in both names, hit the triangle button to scroll down to the database and selected the full name from there. I did not change his default nickname. The rookie showcase went fine. Both the commentators and PA said my real name. No probs, there. After the rookie showcase, the commentators 90% of the game use, the nickname. The home arena announcer never says my real name. Weird because the away game arena announcer says just my last name, like it had in years past. Like I said, I made the exact same player, put him on the exact same team I got drafted to. Played an offline exhibition game. The commentators NEVER said his nickname. Neither did the home areaa announcer.Comment

Re: Y the nick name calling
No, I want them to mention my players real name during the course of a game. Like 2k has done since introducing the "my player" mode. Certainly, the home arena announcer should use it. I can understand them using it for specific my player functions. Like when you nail a shoe endorsement, etc. Calling the"my player" by his nickname 90% of the game is unrealistic. I don't see a tv broadcast of a basketball game where the commentators and public address announcer says a players nickname all game long. Unless your watching the Harlem Globetrotters or a And1 game. Like I said though. Its a bug. If some people like myself are experiencing it and others are not. Bug doesn't exist when you create a player and play an exhibition game. That's how I know its a bug.Comment

Re: Y the nick name calling
From there, I played an exhibition game. Play-by-play and PA works flawlessly. They said my name 95% of the game. They hardly said my nickname, just like in past 2k's. Started a season, same thing. Started an association, same thing. Even started an online association, again, same thing. The audio for my players name gets the "nickname" only on my career mode. At 1st, I thought the audio did not recognize my players name, even though it's in the database. Clearly, that's not the case. And if indeed some folks are not having the issue, then it's a bug.Last edited by Mr_truthman.com; 10-12-2012, 02:27 AM.Comment

Another clue that its bugged is if you change your nickname anytime after you started my career, the home arena announcer will say that nickname for anyone on your team that scores.Comment

Re: Y the nick name calling
This happened back in NBA 2k11, but i was really surprised when Kevin Harlan actually called me by my name in the game, even though its not on the list on names you can select from when creating your character. AND he says it correctly! my last name is Zheng but Chinese phonetics is weird and its actually pronounced like "Jeng" and he actually says this.
also, in past 2k games, i was NEVER called by my nickname. Harlan always said Zheng and the PA announcer would actually say my full name (common english first name plus last name correctly), and Doris Burke would just call me by my number. In 2k13, Harlan and the PA still call me Zheng, the only difference is that now Burke calls me by my nickname instead of my number.Comment
