This DLC is horrible! The dunk contest could have been so much fun had they just taken a page from Live 2005's book. I was skeptical of the Guitar Hero set up from the jump but its worse that I could have imagined. There is a huge disconnect between the control input and what is done on screen. Dunk options are very limited as well. Missed opportunity for 2k. Noble attempt to give the fans something but could have been something great with a little more thought to the controls.

Re: Anybody else played the 3 PT/Dunk contest?
I have done better without being in rhythm then in rhythm for the 3 point shootout. I have scored 23 and never finished all racks. But i can finish all racks in rhythm but not hit many shots. That just tells you how clunky and gimmicky this mode is. The camera angles the cpu shoot on look much better then the angle they give the user.
The dunk contest is a joke as well. As gimmicky as the controls are they should of allowed you to do them first then let your player act out the dunk in one fluid motion. The pausing mid attempt to dunk then to controls is poorly done. Matching the guitar controls are not that smooth either.
Both modes are actually entertaining when letting all the opponents be cpu. But im more of a gamer that likes to play and be a part of my games.
The all star content looks like it was something just put together for promotion purposes rather then actually trying to put out something solid. I imagine near the allstar break in real life that they will release this as dlc to purchase for the people that did not get it at launch.Comment

Re: Anybody else played the 3 PT/Dunk contest?
I haven't tried the 3pt contest but I had fun with the dunk contest. Had to play a few times before I could win but I didn't have a problem completing a dunk. The easiest dunks are just that, easy. The input commands are basic. The harder dunks (all of the ones in black) are a different story. I've completed a couple but it takes some getting use to.
For the person that says once you've completed all the dunks it gets repetitive, if you've completed all of the dunks already you have a lot of time on your hands lol. Just scrolling down on the list there were a lot of dunks to choose from.
BTW I don't know if I like the scoring on dunks, and I think the cleaner the dunk (The more buttons you press correctly) the better the score. Not entirely sure on this yet though.Comment

Re: Anybody else played the 3 PT/Dunk contest?
Oh.. I don't even look at the meter as it's useless to me. All I need to know is the player release point. I don't even know why they put it there and for what purpose would it serve.
Anyway..As for you pressing the button and nothing happen.. That irritated me at the beginning as well when I first picked up the game. Then I realize this is 2k's little way of telling you that you're going out of rhythm believe it or not, so you need to calm down for 1 second and then press it again. Like if you run to a second rack and before your player is ready you press pick up ball or shoot, it won't do anything and you have to press it again.
Timing and Rhythm to master the 3 pt contest. That's all there is to it.Comment

Re: Anybody else played the 3 PT/Dunk contest?
The 3 point shootout is so sluggish and they take forever to get to pick up the ball when i hit the L 2 and it so slow to pick it up and the dunk contest is blah dont really like it i was pretty dissapointed hopefully they can patch that 3 point shootoutComment

Re: Anybody else played the 3 PT/Dunk contest?
I actually like the 3pt contest... I played with novak and hit 17pts
the dunk contest is extremely hard for me took me a while to understand it
only problem I have is the way you go thru the players like you cant choose the team and select the players through there.. I had to scroll all the way at the bottom to get novak because his player rating is lowComment

The Rising Stars Challenge "Jerseys" are laughable. Why not just give all the players their regular jerseys for the Challenge?"It's quite frightening to sing "Who's World Is This?" without proper enlightment"

Re: Anybody else played the 3 PT/Dunk contest?
3 pt contest is fine. You guys are not understanding that there is a fluidity to it and if you don't follow it, you'll find your player not responding.
Is it the best design decision? Maybe not. But, I'm perfectly fine with it because it really doesn't take much to just get into a flow.
Right Trigger. Shoot. Right Trigger. Shoot. Just keep it going."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Anybody else played the 3 PT/Dunk contest?
Please read my above post in this thread.
Like I mentioned You have to get into a rhythm to shoot well and fast.
Most player release point ARE NOT AT THE HIGHEST BUT CLOSE TO THE MIDDLE WHERE HE AIMS AT THE RIM.
Click button to pick up ball immediately after the ball release.
Keep the rhythm going.
It's amazing that when I get into the zone of pressing release button and ball button, I can close my eyes and know that ball after ball will go in, just like real nba players doing the contest.
I'm sure most people would like the same ol feel control in 2k11 but that's when I can use Shaq to win the perfect score on a 3 point contest LOL NO THANKS! Players do get tired and their rhythm get messed up, I think the 3 point contest this year is spot-on.Comment

If you control all 4 contestants, (which I did) all of the dunks go by pretty quick.Comment
