      Re: nba 2k13 everything Defense

      as soon as you master the defense, you really see what's wrong with the AI offense code : forced shots!

      So many players tend to force shots no matter how they are defended...those stupid step-away jumpers out of nowhere and fully guarded are so easy to predict and block, leading to VERY POOR shot selection and low fg% out of the paint

              I never really play online... I usually just play my association with my Cavaliers...

              I'm wondering how you guys set up your Coach settings and Individual Defensive Settings?

              Hedge, Switch, No Head, all that... I'm not a Basketball guru, I just love the game, but, I'm not sure what all these settings do when combined with other things...

              I've tried setting my Coach Profile up and max out the Defensive Pressure setting, but, that seems to lead to a ton of Fouls on my team and a bunch of Free Throws for the CPU...

                I'm tryna figure out how to change my defense stances like sometimes I'll press just LT and he'll get into a intense defensive stance, or I'll press RT and he'll be in a sprinting stance like he's ready to run or both and he'll be in a strafing stance but I need help in figuring out which is which!

                      It's more of an art than a science. You kind of have to be able to look at the animations and predict where you need to be.

                      What I would do I play some offline games on player-lock, or in create-a-legend, and use the center. Focus on guarding your man. That will give you more practice.

                          Switch to man guarding or closest big to the cutting lane then stand (in way of path) with LT held, you have to kinda see the cut coming before he cuts in order to switch fast/early enough.

                          LT then flick RS left/right.

                              In general for OFF ball D:

                              SAG OFF, if they couldn't even hit a barn door, like Greg Anthony;
                              MODERATE, if they have a rating below 80 from 3 but are decent mid range shooters (70+) like LaMarcus Aldridge;
                              TIGHT, if you're playing someone who has a 80+ rating from 3;
                              DENY BALL, if TIGHT isn't working on the sharpshooter or if it's a star. If it's a star, toggle between moderate and deny ball, depending on whether you're playing DWade or Durant.

                              In general for ON ball D:

                              SAG OFF, if it's Greg Anthony;
                              MODERATE, if you're playing someone who could beat you off the dribble and can shoot the mid range, e.g. DWade, LBJ
                              TIGHT, if you're playing a sharpshooter who has no business taking several dribbles, e.g. Korver, Ray Allen.
                              Great, basic overview...thanks!

                              Two videos I just found a few days ago. The second video shows how bad the CPU hedging is. It also shows that this guy does the defensive settings pretty much like me, but he sags off battier off ball (which is a pretty good idea, as he's the guy that you would feel most comfortable taking several shots) to give him more help defense AND he plays tight (on ball) on good mid range shooting big men (Haslem), a player I didn't mention in my post above.

                              Studied the video and am still not exactly certain how to set the hedge settings / for whom / etc.

                              Can Optik or (anybody else) break that down like he broke down on and off ball D?

                              Thanks?

                              Mental block on this concept for some reason!

                                I played the Wizards vs Suns (cpu) game yesterday and I was defending O'neal at the free throw line with 10 seconds to go on the shot clock. We were standing body to body and he didn't even try to pass the ball but took a forced shot and airballed it.

                                Unrealistic and just horrible to watch.
