Re: OS Roundtable: Where does NBA 2K13 Stand?

Gameplay wise this is the greatest 2k title ever created. It does suck that some of the legends are missing like Kareem, Webber, Dr. J ect. And rebounding needs to be patched. They also can improve on pass and catch animations, although it is way better than 2k12.

Other than that, this game is awesome. They really tightened up player movement which is huge for me. In 2k12, there was way too much sliding and player momentum (2k11 and 2k12) was way out of control. A simple pass to a player coming to the ball would make them go in the back court or their momentum would carry them way too far. Off ball movement is tighter and not as loose also. This was a huge step gameplay wise for 2k.

I love the presentation and the commentary is a little better this year. Ranked online matches are bogus as always, but at least I can play a game without feeling handicap like in 2k12 because they fixed some of the speed issues. Also defense is better once you get the hang of it.

    Bottomline, 2k13 is a beast.

Re: OS Roundtable: Where does NBA 2K13 Stand?

Initially, I was sorta disappointed in 2K13, mainly for cosmetic reasons. I was upset that we didn't have all the Legends from 2K12's DLC, along with missing Legends like Kareem, Dr. J and Webber, but hopefully we'll have them back with hex editing.

But, damn, the gameplay is better than it's ever been in the 2K series. I thought player movement was great in 2K11 and 2k12, but 2K13 takes it to another level.

And the shoe editing/creating...is just awesome. Finally--FINALLY--I can put 1996 and 1998 MJ in the proper colorways of his Air Jordans.

All I need are the afore mentioned Legends and I'm all good.

But, then he goes to validate his opinion by saying that 2K13 is a "fantastic game", something that critics of the game would disagree with. Validate your opinion, fine. You have a right to do that. But, to try and close out your opinion by stating, matter-of-factly, what a game is or isn't, is wrong.

Truth is 2k is never gonna be the game it could be. Just imagine having online leagues where it's 9, 10 human players a team like crew but u play 4 a real nba team. World round leagues 2k could be a giant but the ceo is garbage the stock holders don't no hoop. ANIMATIONS=AUTOTUNE.

Can't say it enough - GREATEST SPORTS GAME I EVER PLAYED even with the flaws, point blank!!
And this comes from a man who HATED that convoluted nonsense called isomotion but TRIED to tolerate it yet it would really make the game unplayable for me, eventually, most years. Analog dribbling just gives me more of a connection and the "feel" of playing is damn near spot on. I'm still gunna need Mike Wang to REMOVE DRIBBLING FROM THE LEFT STICK. I deal with it but it's problematic at some of the most inopportune times. RIGHT STICK ONLY DRIBBLING, PLEASE, MR. WANG, THANK YOOOUUUU!!
Just cuz you pour syrup on ish....

And here is part of the problem...how is it possible when games claim to have online modes and pro editors claim to be grading the game, to not have an opinion one way out another about the online side of the game. This it's why online sucks and has sucked for years for 2k because reviewers still give them high ratings desire the flaws. When's the last time you heard a movie reviewer give a movie that's missing part of it a good grade? Is it possible a book would be a best seller if chapters 4-8 were missing out of every copy. But it's allowed in gaming and it's absolutely ridiculous. the developers obviously don't play online either and seems that if it's part of your job you might invest some time in it...that point is for the reviewers too to hold them responsible.

I really hope they keep shooting and defense where they are. I really would like them to add the missing players as quickly as possible as I still haven't started an association yet. My Player is top notch, the only complaint I have so far are me being forced to play Power Forward at times when I'm a 3pt specialist Point Guard, as well as the freezing issues. I"m on PS3 and really haven't expierienced any freezing issues yet but I still hope they get it worked out soon before I run into any.

                            Pros:
Top Notch gamplay and controls are better than ever
Menus are a lot more crisp this year.
                            Commentary is better than ever
My Career is significantly better this year.

                            Cons
                            Missing Players
Slight step backwards in presentation (very slight)
                            Freezing issues
small bugs that are annoying (such as being forced to play a different position than what you are)
I Agree. They really made this version playable for the below avg. 2k gamer. I like it is slow and I will have I find a slider set. But overall it's good. I don't plan on learning all the advance controls. But they have made it compete me for me and others like me to play it and win, and enjoy.

Re: OS Roundtable: Where does NBA 2K13 Stand?

2k13 stands where wasted potential is.

On the court the game got a great base, significantly improved this year. all they need is to have better contact mechanics. Some post moves needs a polish too from a defensive stand point. Also maybe tie the moves to low post rating? I mean guys like Fab Melo or Hasheem Thabeet should not be able to execute some of the moves.

Besides the general polish and little tweaks, it is time to improve Association/Rosters/Sim Engine etc. Those departments are showing their age. We have basically the same offline association with almost same issues for countless years. More interaction (with players & coaches) and give us something better then fixed potentials. Maybe the potential rating could drop or maybe rise depending on the performance and other stuff. My player has the press conference, assoc. not having the same feature bugs me out. Should I also add that we should have better playbooks and rosters? The things we are constantly asking are so much easier/cheaper to fix then adding new animations and other stuff into game.

If those things were to make in the game, it would be a sim gamers wet dream. Not that it will happen. We probably end up having one more dunk animation with Justin Bieber on the cover.
