Exactly what this man said. :P
In the half court if it's man to man defense I am running Pick and Roll with Kemba ( see below ). Kemba is quick, has a really rated high mid range shot ( 87'ish ), and a relatively quick release. If the defense doubles Kemba then I kick to the open man and I should have enough time to get a clean look.
In the half court if it's zone then I need to know what plays to run, but I can get insanely clean looks for Gordon and others. So that is just a matter of knowing the plays. Again see below.
Defense that leads transition is really a huge part scoring with the Bobcats. MKG and Kemba have elite level speed ( 90+ ). So getting the ball in their hands is really going to allow you to push the ball and get some easy baskets. Gordon is DEADLY in transition. You can get him wide open looks ( so his longer release time doesn't matter ) in transition.
I am having fairly good success with them online. I think I am 7 - 3 so far. It so satisfying to beat people with the Bobcats. :P
My starting 5 so far is
Kemba
Gordan
MKG
Thomas
Mullens
Sessions is the only player that I can't really decide if I should have him in the starting lineup.
So I will breakdown two plays that I have found to be useful.
Kemba - 1 Delay Chest ( Pick and Roll ).
Very good against man coverage. It's a basic PnR play with Gordon coming off a double screen as an option if the PnR is defended well.
So as Kemba my progression is the following.
1) Use Pick and look to score ( either driver or mid range pull up ). If covered...
2) Look for the roll man ( Mullens ). IF covered...
3) Gordon off a double screen for a jumper.
Against a 3-2 zone ( which I saw quite a bit of last night for some reason ). I run a 3pt play called Baseline Double for Gordon.
The play starts out looking for Gordon in the corner after he comes of a single screen on the baseline. If that is covered he runs to the opposite corner coming off two screens to get open. While he is running through those, you will control the point guard and a teammate will set a screen for you. Use it and either attack the basket or just use it to clear the passing lane to Gordon who is now in the opposite corner. This is wide open all day. If Gordon becomes tired you can sub in Carrol and run the exact same play. Also this might be a good time to run Sessions at the point. The Dimer Sig Skill increases the chances of the shot going in if the pass comes from Session. Which in this play it more than likely will.
I am sure there are better plays and ways to attack a 3-2, this is just what I came up with on the fly during an online game.
I hope that helps some other fellow Bobcat users. If anyone else wants to share what has been effective for them I would love to hear it. :P
