I also don't understand how me buying VC and upgrading my player "takes the fun out of the mode". It's actually making the mode more fun for me due to this.

Once again. It's a great idea, but they just implemented it poorly in a few areas in its first year.
It takes the fun out of the mode when people buy the VC, get maxed out 99's, and go online to the 3v3 black top. That is when we care or me personally. I don't care if you guys use it for offline only, but my main complaints are from those who I have to compete with online that have an advantage over me.

I think yall gotta make up your mind. Do you like a progression or do you like to be 99 ovr, unlock everything on Day 1 ?

It's called patience or no patience, and there's options for both

      Patience = Play the game

      No Patience = Purchase VC

I'm not saying I'm in favor of this model at all, but what I am enjoying this year as compared to 2K12 and 2K11 is

      1. No hacks (unlike 2K11)
      2. Better servers (unlike many previous games)
      3. My player online (unlike 2K12)

So while not in favor of the new stuff and sure it needs some tweaks, but if you have some patience and know you're going to be playing the game all year, it's not as bad as you're making it out to be. I'll take this over the Day 1 99 ovr hacks we saw in crew and 40 ft giants ANYDAY. Those things ruin entire modes, where as this just makes the progression to 99 slower or faster depending on the option you choose. The scale of how much things cost is out of wack but also keep in mind that you accumulate VC for any mode you play - and that VC can be pumped into a single mode or whatever.

I like VC because I like playing online rank matches, team up,3v3 way more than playing My Player. Earning VC I could use on my My Player without having to play the mode a lot is great.

patience or no patience?? you still get close to maxing out after 1 season so what's the difference? it's just like how in skyrim you get stupidly over powered fairly quickly. long gone are the days when games were legit challenging like they were on older consoles. this is just what happens when CoD and the like are the #1 selling games. the whole shift to online gaming has definitely changed the landscape and that's why we have things like 'vc'.

i still think that even if you're a rated 99 player you're not going to be easily winning championships on a ****ty team, especially if you're playing team basketball and not trying to play nbajam. for instance: i had a 7ft center that got drafted to the thunder and within half a season of playing i (and the team) were totally dominating and i didn't purchase any vc nor was i maxed out. so what's the difference?

If the thunder had a decent 7 ft. Center, they would be the best team in the NBA, by far.

Progression might be too fast for you, but most gamers now are casual and in the entire games lifetime, lot of people play only 1-3 seasons. I'd assume not many people want to play 5 seasons to finally have their player in his prime.

I concur, it's ridiculous that when the game first came out... You go on Blacktop and folks already had maxed players with fancy clothing. Online Blacktop is pretty useless in my opinion, anyway. Mostly because the PG usually ballhogs, I've played a lot of times where I don't even touch the ball because of ball-hogging. The Blacktop mode is arcadey. They spam steal button, shoot fadeaway 3s to win the game, and do fancy dunks.

I could use any of the methods available to get mad VC, or I can pay money to bling out my guy... but if I just want to play games and grind out my progression, it becomes non-realistic.

After playing a full 82 game 12min Quarter season, I maxed out at an OVR 80... I don't want to cheese or play like a video game ... I want to enjoy it as a sim of a reasonable NBA game.

The way this system has been implemented is flawed and unequal.
I can retort this by saying ONLINE.

I believe that VC is a lot to do with online because your player is going to be online if you use him on the court.

You get a ****load of money playing online. 150 per blacktop, 250 per quickmatch + team bonus (for playing with a bad team), and like 350 for playing a custom game with longer quarters.

I think where it shines is quickmatch because only idiots quit. I've played a lot of quick match... and gotten a ton of VC and only once (seriously ONCE) has everyone quit and ended the game. That is worth VC.

My dude isn't an 80 overall. What is your player rank? I'm like all-star 3. I'm telling you... as much as you might hate it, play online. Get with a good group of people playing 5 v 5. That gets you VC so fast. Even just noobing around in quickmatch is cool.

Blacktop, well I can understand why people would hate that.

Edit: and for anyone who wants to play 2k online in 5v5 with players who actually know how to play, pass the ball and never quit, add me. PSN...

The first week of this game's release I spent farming VC. It was really annoying but there was no way I was going to cave in to 2K's money grabbing tactics when I already spent 65 on this. I have most of the things I want and my myplayer is good now so now I can enjoy the game like I'm supposed to.
