Also sometimes the big man will roll to the hoop and then move to the side of the lane rather than just running through the wide-open middle.

Pick and Fade has been a bit more effective for me with good mid-range shooting bigs like Dirk it's lethal unless he's matched up against a really tough defender (like most things, the roster really overrates guys with defensive reputations. Ibaka is not known as a great one-on-one defender but he sticks like glue to Dirk).
if you see your defender going under the screen you can try crossing him over and going back the way you came to either create space for the drive or force the help d to free up your big man

I updated my post on the previous page. I had the wrong play name for the second play.

You are correct. I misspoke, for the lack of a better word.

        Hey Fellas,

This weekend I also found that playing on the 2k camera view helps out majorly for the PnR offense. I can see the passing lanes better, rather than just passing the ball and hoping in gets through the trees!

I didn't think about that. I always used the 2K cam so I failed to mention it.

There is another good play that I will try to post if I can locate the name of it once I get home.

The general layout is similar to this

It's a staggered double screen on the wing with your shooters behind the 3pt line.

I will probably edit this post and make it a bit easier to read.

We run one similar to this, but its at the top of key. Good play when we have enough time to run it!

              Re: Pick and Roll

Hi guys, I just got this game. I skipped the 2k12 game and simply kept playing the 2k11 game so perhaps this was changed in 2k12.

My question is in 2k11 there was little to NO difference in running the pick-n-roll with the opportunity to get roll-alley-oop dunk. In 2k13 is there a real benefit to running the pick in roll with Dwight Howard over other bigs or is it still more animation driven?

              Thanks

I'd say that the opportunity for the alley is there as long as the recepient has a clear lane and has beat his man! I have Roy Hibbert, he's not built for the alley, but I also have H.Warrick and he's a monster when he can get the lane.

When I played 2K11 I could find ZERO difference between Dwight Howard and Roy Hibbert when it came to alley-oops (pick and rolls) is that still the case or does it better reflect real life of Howard being a real alley-oop threat every time he rolls to the hoop?

Yea he's a definitely a threat every time. But someone like Roy would never be a threat

That is great to hear. I can't wait to play this game. What are some of the most dangerous pick and roll threats this year?

I was thinking Curry & Howard is a nice combo. I am not sure how great of a passer Curry is and how much that matters though.

Felton/Kidd and Amare/Chandler, Andre Miller and Javale McGee, CP3 Deandre/Blake

I'll help you guys heres a few of my moves I posted in another thread a few months ago:

When I run the PnR I look to see what my on ball defender is doing, going under or over. If over and I have a good shooter like CP3, D-Will, Steph Curry etc) I'm setting my feet and shooting it. If I have a real good shooter I get a bit fancy with leaners and runners etc. If they go over the screen I'm driving and checking for my shooters in the wings first(works great off set plays) if no look then I keep driving with my ball handler if I have a bit of space or a big man waiting with the help I'll float it over, if not and I have a lane imma lay it up of course.

Then the misdirection on the PnR of course. Like I stated in my post above. Or I'll call for the pick and when the pick is set do a hesitation and go the other way. or do a hesitation and drive in the direction the pick is set.

Then there's the pick and pop that I run frequently, and then the lob. If I'm playing with my Knicks you're in for a long day I'll run that PnR with Melo. To many options when Melo is the PnR ball handler, the focus will be on him so I'll usually tell Chandler or Amare to roll for a easy lob. Or with the Clippers run LAC Angle 1 I believe it's called. It's a side PnR for Blake and Deandre if the D over commits Lob City! But with Melo and Kidd at the 1 for NYK this year ahhh man.

Another effective misdirection move out the PnR is from the triple threat. I'll call for the pick when it's set, I'll do the triple threat jab step away(when he puts his footback and holds the ball in the air T-mac does this alot) then i'll explode. Once I get in the lane I'll read the defense and make my decision accordingly. But usually it's a layup or a foul from a help defender coming from the wing.

Or I'll use the Jeremy Lin move as I like to call it. Call for the pick when it's set, jab step in direction of the pick and then explode the other way.
I like using this move with Steph Curry and CP3 cause there the only people I seen do this move:

In the suns video you get a good idea on how to use the pick and roll properly. I do alot of passes seen in the above video in 2K frequently.

Does anyone use the "shade/flash" option? Y'know not the full pick like in the video? I havent tried it yet, but is it effective as the full pick?
