Personally I think its terrible. No more of this cartoonist art and old music. We want the professional menu and underground/upcoming artists back!

Re: You guys are hurting my feelings, hating on the Jay-Z presentation.
Its horrible in my opinion. I would rather have a nba style presentation. Now to the music side of it let us just have a feature that other sports games have to customize our own music for the menus. If someone is that into jay z's music then they could have their own jay z playlist in custom music.Comment

Well, at least we're talking about something that's actually in the game. You know, unlike contact animations, playbooks that make sense, realistic game stats and so on.Comment

Re: You guys are hurting my feelings, hating on the Jay-Z presentation.
All I see is negative impressions about the new presentation when, IMO, it's one of the most amazing presentations ever in a sports game.
All this complaining is going to make 2k throw the baby out with the bathwater. It's fine that you hate Jay-Z's music. It's fine that you hate the wonderful thing which is rap and want the flashy bling gone from the menus and want to go back to the same boring menus.
But you also are going to make 2k think you want the good stuff gone. The music videos before each game. The real city footage they show before games. The interesting and varied replay cameras (although I wish you got AND 1s for good three point shots, it seems they only care about flashy dunks).
It seems you want these things gone as well, just because it has Jay-Z's name on it.
Smart guys who can design games, code, and write detailed and nuanced documentation can probably also read and make distinctions.
Oh, and I actually like the Jay-Z music selection, especially as a lot of those songs actually get played at real sporting events this year. I could use a little more diversity, but I'm glad they were able to get in mainstream favorites like U2 and Coldplay.Comment

Re: You guys are hurting my feelings, hating on the Jay-Z presentation.
One thing people here don't appreciate enough imo is the flat-out stellar job 2K's done with presentation in this game over the past 3-4yrs. From the commentary to the real life stat references to the post-game highlights/options to the multiple intros, etc. etc. etc. They've gone so far beyond other sports games it's not even funny (imo). And they've continued to push the envelope year after year. How many here even reference the job they did with the historic teams and era-specific presentation features of 2K12? Not many, because so much time was spent saying how horrible the game was. As if the devs somehow forgot how to make a basketball game. It's pretty much a distant memory because so many here can only speak in extremes; so something has to be the best ever (2K11) or the worst thing imaginable (2K12).
While I do think the use of gold is a bit much in this year's game, it isn't overly intrusive for me. They could've made some things less prominant perhaps. But overall that's nitpicking. I like the Jay-Z inspired presentation myself; I think it infuses the game with a certain swagger. 2K played it way too safe in terms of sanitizing some of the songs but I understand why they preferred to go that route. While I respect someone like VDusen's opinion who takes time to make a nuanced argument and not throw the baby out with the bath water, far too many others can only speak in hyperbole, usually going to the most negative extreme they can and give 2K no credit for what they've managed to accomplish.
If you look at tv now you see the convergence of entertainment (music) and sports. Music video intros at football/basketball games. Hip-hop artists doing interviews of sports figures for ESPN, CBS, or Fox. The traditionalists may not like it, but it's here. I like that 2K's been ahead of the curve.Last edited by spankdatazz22; 12-05-2012, 07:43 PM.HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Frankly I don't want 2K to be ahead of the curve. I want them to emulate what I see on broadcasts and get the tone perfect.
And yes, in all other areas 2K has been stellar. The commentary is freaking amazing, especially now that the season's going and they're saying all the right things in NBA Today. I feel obliged to start an unnecessary thread just to gush about it.Comment

I went back to 2k11 and the menus look so bland. 2k13 looks better IMO.Comment

I liked it at first but now its just stale and repetitive they need more songs. And where is the love for the east coast female MC's.Comment

I don't care about it one way or another, but I will say that OS is pretty consistent on this front. Whether it's basketball, football, baseball, hockey, or any other sport, by any developer, most folks here want the presentation to mimic as closely as possible, various TV broadcast style design formats.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: You guys are hurting my feelings, hating on the Jay-Z presentation.
Jay-Z as the executive producer is a huge flop. Not only did it add nothing to the overall menu design and soundtrack. It made it significantly worse then the previous year. I'm a hip-hop fan, but the lack of variety and old hits I have heard thousands of times makes the soundtrack a DUD. I also don't need to listen to six Jay-Z songs on the soundtrack it's overkill. Not sure how much money 2k wasted bringing in Jay-Z but that money could have been spent elsewhere like on myteam which is a mess.Comment

Re: You guys are hurting my feelings, hating on the Jay-Z presentation.
It's a mixed bag. Appreciate 2K will to show something fresh and new on presentation department, but the result is a little awkward. No problems personally with Jay Z, i think he's good and fit with bb mood (although 2K12 with legends showcase intro was another world). Pre game cuts are also good. Soundtrack is nice but not so natural, i don't see the point to bring in Coldplay, Daft Punk and U2 if not for mainstream purposes. I agree with some critics exposed on this thread, layout in game is bizarre and out of context, bass pulses everywhere, gold, sparkles and gangsta-Saints Row-style, mmm... bizarre. Maybe is better stick to standard television broadcast next time.Comment

Re: You guys are hurting my feelings, hating on the Jay-Z presentation.
The menu navegation this year is way better, but the overall presentation with all those awful gold frames everywhere is really distracting and has nothing to do with basketball on TV. In this aspect 2k12 is much better.Comment
