I'd rather have presentation that mimics a TV broadcast rather than have Jay-Z posted everywhere. 2k took a step back in presentation, they went from having a professional look about their game to having presentation that can only intrigue teens with the gold chains and over hyped hip hop music. The one thing I loved about 2k games was that they always had music from underground artists, which gave exposure for these guys that actually need it.

The resources they used could have went to making the overall game better. I doubt anyone really cares if Justin Bieber or Pauly D is in the game or have a low resolution Jay-Z sitting at Barclay Center. I would rather like to have Spike Lee or Jack Nicholson sitting on the sidelines, real basketball fans, not these hypebeasts.

At first I was a little unsure, but I like it now.

This kind of presentation would be more suitable for a streetball game or if 2K just put it Blacktop mode menu. And the score overlay during the game keep it simple, we don't care for those moving bars everytime a team scores, just keep the presentation clean. And take out those pre-game music videos. And what the hell is up with the voice over in the pre-game montages in playoff games. It keeps saying the wrong conference (West when I'm on Eastern Team and vice versa).
I couldn't agree more. Presentation is great - if you're watching MTV Cribs or something. But it definitely doesn't fit to NBA basketball at all!

Re: You guys are hurting my feelings, hating on the Jay-Z presentation.

I really don't get the crying from those that say they want ESPN/TNT/NBA TV presentation and say presentation is too over the top. I'm playing a game now and outside of the pause screens, the Jay-Z influenced aspects don't seem all that prevelant during a game. Unless I'm missing something. I know you see some of it during halftime with the quick cuts between highlights but most of it seems to be 2K's branding.

The commentary is exponentially better than anything in any game that's come before it, there are more cutscenes/more individual focus of commentary versus the situation on the court, there are more team/individual statistical rankings references than ever before, more, etc. The between quarter music and highlights of what occurred during the quarter are more like I'd see during an actual game than in any NBA2K previous.

And for all the crying about Justin Bieber, Jay-Z himself, etc. being included in the game... I've had the game since midnight release night and haven't seen either of them ONCE. Unless you actively seek them out I'm guessing you're not going to see them much. Seems like people here are complaining just because they're there at all, which is silly imo. I do understand the overuse of gold and such but I still don't see where overall the presentation has taken some huge turn and is now completely horrid, as some here say.

I think a lot of the complaining comes from the same people that for years have been complaining about Clark Kellogg. It's not that he doesn't deliver competent commentary because he does that and then some - he's very good in the game. [some] People complain simply because he doesn't do NBA games on TV - and that ruins "their immersion factor". That's the same mentality of those that voted NCAA Basketball 10 Best Presentation in game - all because of some damn splash screens and music. Funny many people here that can't appreciate the complexity of what 2K's accomplished presentation-wise.
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

I love the concept of integrating hip hop music into the pre-game videos, arena music, half-time and post-game highlight packages, etc. But there are two problems with the Jay-Z presentation package this year: The first is that it's only Jay Z's music being used. I would like to see a mix including established artists, the up and comers, etc. And the excessive use of gold in the menus and overall presentation package comes off as tacky and not slick. There is nothing slick and simple, two attributes of a great presentation package IMO. I fire up NBA 2k and immediately I see that excessive gold overlay, which detracts from the greatness of NBA 2k13. The game should be highlighting it's strong gameplay rather than a presentation package.

I actually don't mind or notice all of the gold. I only look at the scoreboard during crunch time or the shot clock is about to expire. I agree with the guy who said unless you are trying to find ways to complain about it, you don't really notice it.

They also had to edit so much of the songs that they sound awful compared to the way the real song is.

I liked the presentation NBA 2K11 and 2K12 had with the stars and stuff, because in essence these are basketball stars. It had a good fell, the menus did not feel gaudy.

I do not really care about the presentation though, I am enjoying the game regardless but if you want my opinion, 2K11 and 2K12 had sleek, clean menus. I liked it.

when you highlight something why does it always have to pulse? why is the soundtrack full of old played out crap songs, that have more lyrics censored then not... victory i remember being a great song, but man when its censored its absolute trash, im straight shooter, jay z sucks, hes a illuminati puppet, none of his songs have substance, i have purchased every 2k ever made, and this is by far the worst soundtrack ever, even worse than the early 2k's that just had an instrumental.

IMO I love the music but I hear it all on the radio everyday so it gets pretty annoying hearing it whenever I play 2k so I turn it off and occasionally turn it on.
I think all the presentation is crap not commentary but
                        1. The NBA doesn't show mixes of the teams playing instead it should show highlights (not flashy) and have commentators talking about it
                        2. Instead of having to the acting like they're the you know in the lineup preview how about you just show their portrait like it really is.

When my PC runs hotter in menus than in games, too much crap is going on in the menus. I think it looks tacky, this game's soundtrack is a showcase for Jay-Z and friends of Jay-Z (lets face it, he just used a bunch of his songs and the first 5 on his iPod), but his songs are the better ones, which isn't saying much. I hate Jay-Z as a person, a "musician" (my professional violinist wife is a real musician), and especially as a video game designer. Come on, his big creative idea for the Nets was, "Let's make the colors black and white."

Lets take his money and put it toward a physics improvement. Not an overhaul, they keep doing those and there are 50 bugs each time, plus, this is a really good base. I mean take this and add better animations, like some of the interior ones. Don't get me wrong, I like the game, and am thankful for it, but lets make good monetary decisions here.

And if I hear "The World is Yours" one more time my ears may try to kill me.

One of the poorer overall presentations in this generation of sports games.

When I start a game, I want to be pumped up, hyped for the upcoming game. Of all the times I want to be hyped up about a concert, this is the absolute worst time. I do not give a half a donk about silly music videos or live performances when I want to be prepared to dunk it in someone's face. I don't see any correlation between music performances and a sport, at all, although I love both things when they are separate and unrelated.

The music selection is hands down the worst I've ever had the displeasure of getting force fed every time I switch on the game. Songs are either censored to the point of pointlessness (almost anything Kanye), utterly pointless (H.A.M instrumental loop on infinite repeat - why??), or completely out of place (U2, Coldplay). I love the Coldplay song and I'm a huge Kanye fan but I just don't feel either being the right choice for this game. I feel like Jay is selling me his recent discography (where coincidentally he's been sounding more and more like a constipated donkey going E orr dadadada E orr), and not sell me on the game of basketball at all. I enjoyed most of 2K's own selection the past years, can't say the same for this one.

And why bother putting the player portraits in the game if during lineup presentations they're just gonna use cyberfaces trying to look hard in the same poses every single game?
