Re: You guys are hurting my feelings, hating on the Jay-Z presentation.
I don't think it's fair to blame all of the presentation issues with jay. At least for me it's the jerseys having those big arm holes and collars, jersey colors are screwed up, and courts being off. Imo those things ruin the presentation than jay-z's part. I don't know maybe it's me, I never really thought of or cared for the menus or overlays. Plus jay-z helped 2k get the Dream team in the game.ARE YOU LOOKING FOR YOUTUBE CHANNELS DEDICATED TO THE SIM COMMUNITY CLICK THE LINKS BELOW, AND SUBSCRIBE FOR ALL SIM CONTENT.

I still play 2K13 all the time though, and I've had no real issue with being able to look past the designs I really do not like at all. The gold hasn't hampered my gameplay one bit. And for the most part, I've been able to fire up my ipod in time to avoid that same old intro song everytime I hit the start screen. It'd just be nice to have a design that complements the game we're playing, not something we feel we have to fight to ignore.
Lastly, I never thought I'd say this, but I haven't used the Dream Team a single time this year. As a big Dream Team fan, their addition seemed so cool in theory. However, the inability to edit the players as we see fit (giving them non-ridiculous red and blue block shoes in particular) alongside no true life opponent (let alone a mode of their own) has nearly rendered them useless to me. Unfortunately, I must admit if 2K had only offered one classic team (say, the '96 Bulls) and did not allow them to be edited and gave them no era-specific opponent, I think they'd have been similarly unusable. Thankfully, that wasn't the case. I love the classic teams they've provided. I just wish there was more to the Dream Team aspect of the game.Last edited by VDusen04; 12-17-2012, 10:58 AM.Comment

Re: You guys are hurting my feelings, hating on the Jay-Z presentation.
I have to wonder what some of you judge as presentation in a sports game - because the above statement is absolutely ridiculous imo.
Personally I include all aspects of a game's presentation, giving emphasis to in-game presentation like commentary, replays, cutscenes, camera angles, etc. All of which this game does an absolute stellar job with. The things the game does integrating NBA Today with the incredible commentary engine to referencing real world stats and situations is something no other sports game to my knowledge is even close to doing right now. I started to play the Lakers/Sixers game yesterday and the commentators referenced the Lakers unexpected slide. This year there are even more references to real world individual/team statistics, and many are categorized/ranked by position, not just who leads what category. I love that if you play an NBA Today game early enough they have a little minigame that lets you pick the winners of the night's games. I'm assuming all this is included in Association mode also. The game does a better job at giving you updates to live games during your fake game. I was playing a Spurs game and during a timeout there was a shot of Tony Parker with his head in his hands - something I see occurring with real life players during a timeout in real life, this all done in real time, not via a cutscene. Before the players check into a game they take different stances at the scorer's table. I'm not even touching on the presentation improvements done to other modes, such as Blacktop. My assumption as to why they use cyberfaces for intros is just because when you're in year-whatever of Association mode, you're going to have fake players anyway. And I could see people here complaining about getting a mix of real/fake faces. If you look at any player's profile you can see they've done an incredible job capturing facial detail, right down to skin blemishes (as well as full arm/neck/back tattoos, which no other sports game is doing to my knowledge either).
Some of you are complaining about what occurs in a freaking pause screen, and extrapolating that out to the game as a whole. Completely ridiculous imo. I understand if you don't like the pause screens, or you'd trade everything I mentioned above so you can see an authentic TNT/CBS/ESPN screen wipe or network tv music. Actually I don't understand it in the least - but I know that's the only thing some of you will be happy with. Either way, outside of the ticker there's precious little Jay-Z influence in the way the game's presented during games. Most of the incessant complaining is about freaking pause screens or menus. Which even if they were completely atrocious (and imo they're not) still shouldn't impugn the job 2K has done with the way the game is presented imo. The less they listen to the extremists on this board, the better. Saying it's "one of the worst presented sports games this generation"? I really did not get the feeling anyone was referring to NBA Today, camera angles, or cuts. If they were, I stand corrected. It just seems like "presentation" is being used as a placeholder in this thread to refer to the aforementioned weird art stuff (and Jay-Z playlist).Comment

Re: You guys are hurting my feelings, hating on the Jay-Z presentation.
Yeah, I think everyone just has their things. For instance, unlike your own regard, I've never really noticed the arm holes on jerseys. I will say, I do get bummed when a court I use frequently is grossly misrepresented (the Pistons floor in 2K9-ish was inexplicably re-designed to something they'd never used in real life) but the wacky presentation design in menus, pre-games, and overlays only seems to compound those issues already in existence.
I still play 2K13 all the time though, and I've had no real issue with being able to look past the designs I really do not like at all. The gold hasn't hampered my gameplay one bit. And for the most part, I've been able to fire up my ipod in time to avoid that same old intro song everytime I hit the start screen. The presentation issue aren't that big to me when I'm playing the game, I'm just focusing on winning. We are just pointing out the flaws in the game's art(to those who think we are just whining), which is something imo hasn't really taken a leap since 2k9. I'm glad 2k is focused on the gameplay and I have confidence in them and I know they listen to us. But the art team has such a easier task imo then the gameplay guys, and I just can't comprehend why the art imo sucks.
I was a big NFL 2k5 player, so my standards probably need to be lowered. Me playing on the PC also makes me question the art team, as the mods some of these guys put out are beyond amazing. This is just my opinion. I don't think it's Jay-z's fault for why the presentation is the way it is, I just think the Art team as whole makes bad decisions.
And this is not me completely dissing the art team, I just want them to know they need to do better. Just as if I had a gameplay issue, I would let 2k know they need to do better.ARE YOU LOOKING FOR YOUTUBE CHANNELS DEDICATED TO THE SIM COMMUNITY CLICK THE LINKS BELOW, AND SUBSCRIBE FOR ALL SIM CONTENT.
