You can use the right stick in the paint to disrupt shots. You need to make contact with the defender and get your hands up. I've blocked shots with Hibbert using the right stick alone. For MyNBA, MyLeague & MyGM content, follow Coach2K on X by clicking here.

Re: Points In The Paint... What?
I don't care what anyone says. Yeah, every once in a while, but the computer bullying it's way in and scoring at will with NO contact, and my defenders just sliding back is unrealistic.
So Coach2K, your picture did nothing for me. You and the AI still scored too many points down there.Comment

Re: Points In The Paint... What?
Exactly my point. Having 60-80 PIP each game isn't realistic at all.

Raptors 117 total - 54pip - 12 fastbreak = 42 total pip
Pacers 101 total - 70pip - 3 fastbreak = 67 total pip
Again neither number is highly unrealistic.
Now the main thing that could be done is to increase fouls which should provide less PiP and increasing FT #s.
Also the other thing I notice from most users here on OS is that they tend to not shoot too many 3's, again increasing the overall PiP chance. For ex; if you take Coach2ks #'s you see that he does have a high PiP #, but look at his 3's, 2-8, the Pacers (IRL) avg 19 3's attempted a game.
If he had taken more 3's and made more of them, it would decrease the PiP #'s."Most people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them"Comment

Re: Points In The Paint... What?
I use the default rosters and don't have a problem with unusually high PIP. Then again I like to switch a lot on defense and have learned to utilize the various defensive options available, like the RS and making appropriate defensive adjustments in the coaching menu. If anything I've tried to get the cpu to score more in the paint (well utilize star post players more). But overall I'm very happy with how the game plays and don't see it being some major issue. With this game there are a lot of factors that play into why things occur, given the myriad slider adjustments people can make as well as someone's playstyle. These devs aren't idiots; let's give them *some* credit for knowing what they're doing.HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Re: Points In The Paint... What?
I haven't been seeing high PiP totals, for the most part they have been realistic. I'm using Mkharsh's sliders with Beds rosters. The only changes I've made is to lower speed and quickness for both user and CPU, what this does is allow for more separation off the pass, which leads to more mid range attempts. Also I take a decent amount of 3 pt shots and play a balanced approach to my offense, so I normally don't have a problem achieving a realistic total for Pip. On the defensive end, I'll play off guys like Monta Ellis or players who can drive, especially if my defender is horrible and I'll try to play uptight on shooters, i.e. Kyle Korver. This is one way to see a good PIP total for the CPU. I feel a lot of users are playing that videogame defense, up tight, which can leave them suspect on the backside and in the paint defensively. Also I try to only go for steals and blocks in high percentage situations.
Mix good sliders, good rosters, and smart gameplay, and you've got yourself ready to experience some great virtual basketball.Comment

Most of the time giving up tons of paint points is a function of allowing too much dribble penetration, because your bigs have to constantly move off their man to help.
And usually, allowing too much dribble penetration (and getting "no contact") is a function of trying to play chest-to-chest on ball handlers. You need to back up from dribblers and move diagonally to cut off their dribble hand.Comment

Re: Points In The Paint... What?
I tried to play HoF difficulty and noticed they would take more jumpers....I mean once they hit it once or twice they will hit it consistently and its downright cheap. Though Pip is a non issue since the cpu preferred to shoot more J's....
So I played a game on superstar level and...
Mind you this is only one game and I beat LA! Kobe was more content in shooting jumpers....
Only thing I want to see higher would be the foul frequency...
EDIT: I just used Superstar/Sim and default 2k rosters...Comment
